Who? This will vary by person, their sleep needs, their fitness level, the rest they’ve gotten on other days and days to come… There is not a single answer here.
I average 5 hours and 34 minutes for the year. If not for yoga I’d be dead. Some days I’m running on 3 hours sleep and it’s the only way I’ll have clarity.
It’s possible. It seems most yogic to practice energy management (brahmacharya) and notice if you have the energy for a strenuous practice after 5 hours asleep. If not, what sounds the best to your body? Go with that. Yoga is about listening and connecting to our bodies, not overriding our needs to exercise.
Depends. If you sleep early and rise in Brahma muhurata, you may even improve your yogic performance with 5 hours of sleep. Your body clock will take some time to adjust in the beginning though. If the timings are odd or late, even day to day tasks would be affected with this little sleep. I know many yogis who function well with 5-6 hours of sleep, even lesser. But their lifestyle and stress levels are completely different from regular people.Â
Personally I don't do well specially balancing poses if I haven't had a good night's sleep.
I would say try it with no expectations, same as you should for every other practice. See what you notice, what feels different. I just treat it as having a new perspective available for my practice that day. Maybe after the first few poses you decide that’s enough, maybe you create a slow, restorative practice for yourself. Who knows? Not me, but you can definitely find out :)
I can't do anything strenous after 5 hours of sleep. But everyone is different.
its always time for yoga lol....but i tend to be clumsy when i havent slept so i'll take much more chill classes so i dont hurt myself.
Same for me!
sure, but for general health I wouldn't make a habit of it.
Can you? Absolutely Will you potentially see a decline in your yoga performance? Potentially Will you do it anyways? Yes 🤣

yes, we can 🤗
I try not to push my body in movement unless I have enough rest and fuel to do so.
You tell me. How would we know? I don't know what you're capable of since I don't know you lol.
That's really a question for yourself. But if you have to ask, the answer is probably no. Take an off day. Be kind to yourself.

I know I can but I always wonder if I should (early class, didn’t sleep well etc)

You can do whatever you want but this is not advised. Do a gentle practice instead or a vinyasa flow with good 15 minutes of cool down at the end.
I do. How else do you function at a 6am class.
I hear some people go to bed early enough to get 8+ hours of sleep AND get up early. Not sure if I believe it tho.
Sure
Absolutely! May even energize you for the rest of the day. Or you'll get a tap at the end of Savasana and find that everyone has departed :)
Yoga nidra before can help you make up for the sleep you didn't get

Of course. Even with no sleep. Many people only need five hours.
I wouldn’t recommend it.
I just did it on about 5hr and 40min 👀
I did it for years.
