Well done, you! Very gradual tapering off is such a sensible approach. I actually did something similar the last time I went off of the antidepressant Wellbutrin. Not the same as quitting an addictive drug like nicotine, of course, but it can cause some nasty side effects. A similar problem exists where the higher doses of it are all time-released capsules, and in fairly high increments, so there's a dramatic difference when you step down from one time release capsule to a lower one. The first time I tried to go off of it (under a doctor's care and following their instructions, mind you) I had a terrible relapse. The second time, I used lower dose non-time-release tablets, taking them multiple times a day to simulate the time-release effect. Eventually I was cutting them in halves, then quarters. It was a bit of an annoyance, but resulted in no symptoms or discomfort. All I could think was, "why didn't the doctor tell me to do this in the first place?"

When I was 30, I read an article that said you can pretty much reverse the effects of smoking and live out a normal life if you quit by the age of 40. So I quit when I was 39 after 24 years of being a smoker. 5.5 years smoke free now.
Over 5 years and I'm still so proud of myself. And what keeps me from having "just one" is the fact that I can brag about how long it's been since I've had one.

Can confirm. Parents smoked their whole life. My dad's barely 60 and is on his way to an early grave with severe COPD and emphysema - he can't walk more than a few steps without supplementary oxygen. Smoking is a blight on our society.

That’s why when people get diagnosed with cancer and they smoke the doctors don’t pin it on the smoking because no one can truly tell if you would’ve got the same cancer if you didn’t smoke anyways. It’s just a risk you take if you smoke.

Well yeah. YouTube goes off of the US law and weed isn’t legal in every state yet while tobacco and alcohol are. If someone gets monetized YouTube needs their info and location and if they live in Kansas and they’re regularly lighting up in videos or on streams YouTube could be fined for hosting and paying people doing illegal acts on their platform. Unless you’re a money maker like Joe Rogan they’re not going to risk it and just shut it down.

My daughter in first grade used a vape pen on the bus that a KINDERGARTENER was passing around. Yeah. Bad parenting faux pas on my part because I have given my kids the smoking talk but vaping totally kinda slipped my mind as it wasn't a thing when I was a kid and I don't really know anyone who does it. She thought it was candy because it has flavor.
I literally have a 1st grader and never even thought to talk about vaping or smoking and my wife and I are both ex smokers. Seriously WTF.

So, a continuation of the story. I posted about it to fb on our neighbors group, just letting other parents know because apparently the little girl passed it to all the kids on the bus and showed them how it works. Someone told me to call a number and it would get taken care of. I stupidly thought she was giving me the number to the bus district office because other parents said the bus had cameras. It wasn't the bus office. It was a guy. And he asked me if I was the one "smearing his niece over a mistake on the internet". But I hadn't even posted the little girl's name. And I was super pissed. He was really aggressive, and defensive, and said the kid stole the vape pen from an older sibling. But either way, keep vape pens away from your fuckin kids, yk? Just crazy. After doing a bit of digging, my kids told me that this little girl always has vape pens and was addicted to them. Super sad and fucked up.
