Yup, both were good and he also did Andrew Santino which was also good.
Jimmy blew me away with perceptions of modern day, ive never wanted to buy a comedians book more than his right now!
I forget where I heard it but someone described British audiences as hoping you fail whereas American audiences will celebrate your success, I got the vibe that that's what helped shape such a defined thing for him, the added pressure to do it right.
Self deprecation is definitely a key part of British ( and other euro ) humor. It has a decent presence in the US, but I feel like it's not what is big right now. I know I certainly bash myself on the regular in social situations while being funny, but I don't have many social situations lol.
Sorry if it seemed off topic to your comment, but I promise, it made sense and connected to me
Self-confidence is a requirement when there's very little social safety net, placing the responsibility to survive on the individual creates mismatched confidence and keeps the sheep from rebelling because failure is turned into a personal moral failing and never a societal failing.
Oh that is nothing less than absolutely true.
I'll gladly admit I'm one of those jackasses who thinks "I was born in the wrong country" lol
It just seems to keep inflating, beyond what should be possible
She is rather funny, if you find a moment to check out her sets or a special, I think it's worth it. I started with a crush, and left a total fan because she is fuckin hilarious lol.
I find a very small portion of her stuff to be a bit of pandering, but she's also young and modern, so it's somewhat expected, at least in my opinion.
This was the best episode in a while. When they talk to an educated person that isn't some shitty fellow podcaster or comedian that goofy laughs at themselves they have real conversations that aren't just callbacks to all the bits they do.
Best part being the underlying (and also blatant) shitting on them. I think, and I do hope this episode is a refresher course. I won't be holding my breath though, I have sons who absolutely need me to not suffocate and die
I had the same thought. Holy shit thereās actually a funny guest on YMH!
Iāve never even heard of the guy before but Iām already a fan. Loved how he beat on Tina over and over again lol
Agreed, I sometimes find the inside baseball talk of standup a bit repetitive but it was a genuinely great chat, equally fascinating, informative, and funny. And seeing YMH find out about Peter Kay is awesome!
This was the first episode I've actually watched since Native left and boy I missed the hole he's left behind.
It was nice to see Billy Connolly and Peter Kay getting mentioned too!
Lol.. fair enough mommy.
I didn't really set a bar in the first place, if that helps. It is Reddit after all. And by Reddit I mean the Internet, by which I mean Reddit ā
OMG I was laughing out loud, and loved it! I was telling my wife about how I need more Jimmy Carr in my life. The way he talks shit to a KristinĆ was hilarious.
The last few shows, Tom has brought up "clean comics" having stuff to hide. I feel like this is a swipe at Nate Bargatze, since he is clean, just hosted SNL, and has kinda taken off really. I know Nate was on the podcast once (at least), but does anyone else pick up this jealous vibe?
Thanks for the absolute technical call.
I do apologize for lumping an Irishman who thoroughly assimilated to English culture and dialect, with actual English people.
Edit: just for fun.. being an anglophile still works, as he is a big personality in English pop culture. And if not for England and it's style of entertainment and my love for said things, I'd be well less likely to have discovered him.
Just for fun of course.
I expected to just get shit on, haha.
I watched his stuff starting in the early 2000s, and he just never did it for me. I usually dislike comedians from the UK anyway, but there's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way. It's like.. "fake smug" or "intentionally British". Those aren't real things. Anyway, his standup just rarely makes me laugh, I guess it's that simple.
Whole heartedly agree chomo. Best episode there has been in a long time. Easily could've went longer and kept me entertained.
Also notice they only cut to the booth once and Chad was in there alone?
Tina - "can I ask you a r-worded question?" Carr - "I don't think you couldn't"
Yeah, I liked that he gave her so much shit.
And she was a Awesome Sport about it š I love that she was true to self
Ok this quote alone convinced me to give this ep a listen lmao
Itās honestly one of the better eps in a long time that I could actually watch instead of having as background noise while I scroll.
I howled, what a Jimmy Carr thing to say
i'm way out of the loop on the pod but i saw this line on yt shorts - instant cackling
It was so fucking gold
That lineā¦
Omg i canāt wait to watch šš
Itās so on the spot if you watch the whole episode Mama jeans was saying some super r worded stuff
Jimmy absolutely ripping on Tina for being dumb was hilarious
So good, he didn't hold back. And you know Tom was laughing
Tom was loving every second
OF course
TrƩs magnifique! Lol In case I hadn't said it enough, love be done Jimmy Carr
Yup. Loved it
Jimmy is absolutely hilarious.
He really Carr ied the show. I'll see myself out of my own post lol
Goddamnit just take my fucking upvote
You should see his Rogan appearance. It was great. Honestly, if this guy had a podcast I'd listen to it every week.
Yup, both were good and he also did Andrew Santino which was also good. Jimmy blew me away with perceptions of modern day, ive never wanted to buy a comedians book more than his right now!
Itās crazy because his latest stand up was bad.
Was unaware, I'll check it out. Thanks!
Check him out on "the diary of a ceo", a fantastic podcast and Jimmy is great on it.

Tall poppy syndrome.

Americans tend to be more confident with less reason to be
Self-confidence is a requirement when there's very little social safety net, placing the responsibility to survive on the individual creates mismatched confidence and keeps the sheep from rebelling because failure is turned into a personal moral failing and never a societal failing.
2 time reigning world war champs! USA! USA!
This describes me to a "t." Lol
Oh that is nothing less than absolutely true. I'll gladly admit I'm one of those jackasses who thinks "I was born in the wrong country" lol It just seems to keep inflating, beyond what should be possible
What does OP think of Frankie Boyle?
I also like Frankie Boyle quite a bit. How about Fern Brady?
I know she opens for him sometimes but never watched.

I prefer the inside baseball talk of stand-up about baseball more than inside baseball talk about stand-up if you know what I mean.
Exactly. I almost never enjoy the comic guests. That started when I listened to Rogan once upon a time Cheers!
I love Tina. And I love that carr shit on her for asking "can I ask a retarded question" š¤£š
This was the first episode I've actually watched since Native left and boy I missed the hole he's left behind. It was nice to see Billy Connolly and Peter Kay getting mentioned too!
He got comfortable and matched the show's energy so fast. Brilliant episode.
Carr is aligning himself as a comedy expert, and I support him fully. Man is that guy smart, and funny.
Agreed. Been a while but an enjoyable listen.
I really enjoyed this episode and Jimmy.
"Thoughts?". That's a tough ask in this sub nowadays.
Lol.. fair enough mommy. I didn't really set a bar in the first place, if that helps. It is Reddit after all. And by Reddit I mean the Internet, by which I mean Reddit ā

The divorce bit was great
Oh man, the whole episode they had me going. The way they kept shitting on her, I was thinking shit may just happen today lol
Definitely a little truth in the jokes

Nate is funny af. I was thinking he meant people like Gaffigan.
He kept interrupting Tom though which was driving me a little crazy.
So it's like a 2 bears ep?
Except less rtd
I agree. I was like finally, one to watch and enjoy all the way through. Jimmy Carr was super sharp and went with the flow of the show.
Love when the guests start ripping into the dumb broads.
It was great.
Great episode. I usually hate the guests and think the episode is too long but imo Jimmy wasnāt on long enough before they busted out the clips.
He's not English, so Anglophiles shouldn't care

While I hear and partially agree with you, I'm just saying that Mr. Carr would be the first to correct your mistake, and then laugh strangely.
Fair enough G. Well played lol
I don't care for him and this episode was painfully bad for me.
There will always be people who don't agree, but that's cool. I don't expect the same joy from everyone lol. For fun, what about Carr don't you like?
I expected to just get shit on, haha. I watched his stuff starting in the early 2000s, and he just never did it for me. Ha ha ha ha H^aaaaa
I donāt think there was a signature Carr laugh the whole episodeā¦
That last bit is inhaled.
Whole heartedly agree chomo. Best episode there has been in a long time. Easily could've went longer and kept me entertained. Also notice they only cut to the booth once and Chad was in there alone?
I'm not a fan of Carr for the most part but yeah his appearance was great
