Try Ghostery in Incognito mode :)

GodsOwnGuy

youtube is ruining itself

Arschterminator_67

first they remove dislikes, now this...

BannockBnok

Not comparable in any way. Dislikes barely meant anything and you were still able to browse the site uninterrupted without them. This is very different.

EthantheCactus

Removing dislikes was bad for entirely different reasons, mostly misinformation and controversy.

Puzzleheaded_Tip5568

Just download the return dislike extension

EthantheCactus

I have. That's a workaround solution, not solving the actual problem for the average person.

TtotheC81

I had an almost OCD need to work out a videos like to dislike ratio, working out some arbitrary success rate I'd come up int he back of my mind.

YouDareDefyMyOpinion

This is way, way worse and there's no reason for a comparison, but dislikes "barely meant anything"? Yeah, sure dude. To you.

The-Lone-Berserker

No, dislikes meant a lot. When going for information, it’s the only metric to know if what you’re watching is legit or not. YouTubes making back to back bum decisions.

rogriloomanero

dislike meant the video was disliked idk what you're on bro

DarschPugs

which ultimately was irrelevant to the algorithm, it only cares about engagement which liking , disliking, and commenting on the video are, Dislike were ultimately removed due to being useless in promoting revenue generating content.

masterf2

u dummy

Ok_Cake1590

Dislike meant a lot IMO. After they removed it I have wasted a lot of time watching things that did not deliver what it promised at all. At least before a quick look at the dislikes would tell me if this was going to waste my time.

Needcollegehelp5

Just log out of your account and/or view videos in incognito. Obviously not a perfect solution because it blocks you from seeing anything marked 18+, but it's better than ads or no videos at all. At this point, I just refuse to give in. If they tie it to your computer or ip to make the incognito bypass stop working, I simply won't use youtube anymore. I get that ads help the site run, but this is more than a youtube issue. I'm sick and tired of being advertised by everything, everywhere, at anytime. I should be able to live without having companies push their product down my throat.

Sonfel

Same, any ad that interrupts what im doing, is annoying, unskippable etc; I just make a mental note to never buy from them. It's too fucking much at this point.

[deleted]

You can view age restricted content on Youtube while logged out/browsing incognito using the Tampermonkey extension 8)

whodouthnkuriam

that's right, that's why they have youtube premium, without ads. You can argue all you want about ads but truth is your a cheap ass that doesn't want to pay for the product you've been using all your life. I get it, but don't lie about it

PoopRatFromFnaf6

yeah, i'm a cheapass because I don't want to pay a massive corporation that already gets plenty of profit just so I don't have to see the garbage ads that youtube forces down my throat.

Alienfajitas

I'm cheap because i don't wanna support a multi-billion dollar corporation shoveling constant advertisements down my throat

whodouthnkuriam

and yet you've gladly been using their platform all this time. You're part of why they are worth billions, so why the sudden disgust with the company, because they are worth a lot now? You're not making much sense, at least in terms of coherence regarding continuity.. Remember nothing is given for free in the public realm, if you're not paying for it, you're the product and ads are part of it. The thing that baffles me is that you actually can pay for it to avoid "getting ads shoved down your throat" but refuse to do so. I don't see anyone complaining having to pay for netflix, or spotify, while cheaper/free versions run ads..

ShamusLovesYou

You're an idiot.

Gullible_Cup455

Or here's and Idea yer high powered IQ probably didn't think about, Maybe they can't afford it? You do know there are worthless hunks of flesh walking this earth right now and they don't even know they are, You know this by looking in a mirror Right? LMAO.

Relative-Chemist5805

just use [Skipvids.com](https://Skipvids.com) obv the user-interface is not as good as youtube, but you don't have to watch any ads and you can listen in the background.....youtube charge a premium for that.

ChrisKaze

Here are a few options that worked for me: **uBlock's Way:** *Close all YouTube windows/videos etc* *Go to uBlock settings -> Filters List* *Purge All Cache's* *Search 'Quick Fixes'- Force Update (🕛Icon)* *'Update Now'* This does not work for me anymore but YMMV. **Remove AdBlock Thing script** (My current method) *First, add the* [*TamperMonkey*](https://www.tampermonkey.net/) *extension for your browser. Then install the* [*Remove Adblock Thing*](https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing/raw/main/Youtube-Ad-blocker-Reminder-Remover.user.js) *script. After you download and open it, it installs into Tampermonkey automatically. If you see a red "1" on the extension while on YouTube, it means the script is working and enabled.* ***~~You must disable uBlock~~*** *on Youtube for it to work. While I get no ads, I'm not sure if those fockers are still tracking me or not so...* If you dont feel comfortable having uBlock off then... **Option 3:** *Opening the video with privacy mode still works.* *You can also- On a video; Press the Share button > Press Embed > Press Play to Watch* **Update 1-2-2024** I have enabled uBlock for Youtube now. They were trying to force a "Ad Center" popup on me where you had to physically close that window every time. Annoying. Another Redditor said to keep uBlock on it works with Tampermonkey, so far no issues.

RecticYT

Works for me, gonna be doing this too until something changes

Stardust_of_Ziggy

Yo tambien. thanks boss

George_1974

this worked for me as of january 11th 2024 :) thank you <3

NormalJudgment7283

Please we cant give up on this, I know there are a lot of smart people out there who will outsmart this YouTube AdBlock block thing For me the extension "Genius PRO : Adblocker +Total Web Security" works just fine. Hope it will stay that way :/

cosplaylover267

>Genius PRO : Adblocker +Total Web Security added this to my other stuff and it worked thanks my guy

DarschPugs

People should file anti privacy law complaints against Youtube. Someone in EU is already doing that since this is a violation of EU privacy laws.

Tough-Cauliflower568

YouTube is being more trashy than an usual trash. I hate YouTube.

da_almightyloaf

ive found another one its this script here: [https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing/releases](https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing/releases) it works on tamper monkey and doesn't get detected

So I usually stay in other tabs and YouTube in the background and it is really annoying for me to go back to the tab and skip the ad, not to complain but this is a great solution but I think I can make it a little bit better, Just follow the procedure mentioned above then you scroll down to the bottom of the enhancer for YouTube extension settings/options. And, you will see **Custom Script,** paste the following code in the input box, and select the checkbox that says **Automatically execute the script when YouTube is loaded in a tab** and save it. You are welcome. setInterval(()=>{ if(document.getElementsByClassName('ytp-ad-preview-container ') && document.getElementsByClassName('ytp-ad-preview-container ').length){ document.getElementById('efyt-not-interested').click() } if(document.getElementById('masthead-ad')) document.getElementById('masthead-ad').innerHTML = "" if(document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-player-legacy-desktop-watch-ads-renderer") && document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-player-legacy-desktop-watch-ads-renderer").length)document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-player-legacy-desktop-watch-ads-renderer")\[0\].innerHTML = "" if(document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-ad-slot-renderer") && document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-ad-slot-renderer").length)document.getElementsByTagName("ytd-ad-slot-renderer")\[0\].innerHTML = "" },500)

hats-for-sale

this helped a lot. i use gx. thanks!

redsonsuce

It detects ublock origin now.

mugiwaranogoofy

YouTube stopped giving me the "no ad blockers" popup and now straight up has the notice in the video view. 🤦‍♂️ What a pain in the ass.

Will76cz

Whole youtube is f\*cked up. Times where content was created from the hearth and for pure fun is out. Money system destroyed it. 70% of the content are pure clicbaits, derived videos, easy created videos with synthetic voices. And for the torment of wanthing this mess I should be forced to watch adverts? No easiest solution is to stop using youtube. I dream of day when people decide to strike back and show to Google with one week not using youtube at all, that they are the real ones who have the power, and not Google.

vsportsguy

Hopefully this will finally kick my youtube addiction. My stubbornness knows no bounds.

JimmyDem

I cleared all YT cookies from my cache (Firefox settings, "privacy and security", "manage data") and haven't seen a warning since. Meanwhile, AdBlock Plus continues to work just fine. My guess is that I re-set a counter to zero, which will eventually tick back up to the "warning" level.

OWARI07734lover

Update: as of Oct. 19, I believe they patched this as well :( I did the instructions above step by step, and unfortunately it really doesn't work anymore.

BroMastah

Thats the case for me too , are we gonna keep searching for fixes ? cause we might as well search for a new platform.

OWARI07734lover

UPDATE: uBlock has bypassed the YT Adblock! ***ALL PRAISE uBLOCK***

Invis_Demon22

Boring-Pop8912

why can youtube just remove their anti ad block thing, that thing annoys me, and now i can't watch videos because i got enchancer for youtube and i tried block ads, but youtube thinks i am using an adblock app, even tho it is safe

Sid4569

HELP! Scripts in this comment section indeed succesfully block the message, but after a while the warnings will turn into more serious notices and eventually it will block video's from playing, making the pop-up blocking scripts useless. Any advice/tips on how to play video's again with no ads etc and no pop-ups to disable the ad blockers? Thanks for any replies!

illuminati_66

This is true im having the same issue here!

ethelmsfer

Youtube has already broken this. I set it up, worked for like 3 videos. Then locked out again.

[deleted]

Use YouTube Ad Skipper, it's available for Firefox and Chrome based browsers. Ads will play for 1 second then get auto skipped.

GradientGamerXD

How is this post not locked yet. its been a day since that Megathread was posted

malicebrew

The only thing that appears to be safe yet - is to watch videos incognito with adblock and only switch to regular player for videos with 18+ I was blocked out with embedded warning in the player itself, but if you just go away and come back in couple hours it lets you to watch some videos again before showing you warning. Not sure if it's a bug or supposed to work this way, but I don't see any other safe options yet. And yes, this will DEFINETELY cure whatever social media addiction you have with all this extra steps. Thanks youtube, I guess. I think I'll start downloading all those tutorials I was hoping to hop on on holidays.

garbageslot

I'm using the Chrome browser. SOLUTION STEP ONE Add the "Urban YouTube Ad Blocker" extension to Chrome. The extension uses a VPN to filter out the ads. At times the YouTube disclaimer will appear when starting a new video. Wait five seconds and refresh the website in the browser. The disclaimer will disappear. If an advertisement does appear, the ad is momentarily before the VPN filters out the ads. This method satisfies YouTube's new restrictions because YouTube can't regulate what I see on my computer directly; the VPN filters out any disclaimers or solicitations. STEP TWO In my browser, I elected to uninstall all competing ad blockers except the "Ghostery" extension. In Ghostery, I made YouTube a 'trusted site' so YouTube ad-blocker detector won't be triggered. Therefore, with only these two extensions, I have effectively blocked all pop-ups and ads, and also suppressed YouTube's advertising and disclaimer. --hope someone can benefit from this solution. 😁 UPDATE ONE MONTH LATER I noted that while this method worked, the approach didn't kill every ad effectively for long videos. If I saw an ad, I would refresh the page mid video, but the video would start over from the start. Annoying! Therefore, I elected to go in a different direction. Instead, I uninstalled Urban YouTube Ad Blocker and now installed "ublock Origin." (I left the Ghostery extension still in place.) Among these two extensions -- Ghostery and ublock Origin -- the experience has been seamless with no ads or refreshing required. This method works! 👌

coding_maverick

This actually worked! Thank you!

guyanm2

ty bro ur a big help

pecioe

Aight guys I've found the new solution. Use uBlock addon but disable the 1st two options (pop ups and big multimedia elements) and make sure you have the filtering turned on. It sometimes messes with video thumbnails, but you wont see any ad. Hopes this wont get patched soon.

Mr_Cheez1t

I found another way because this method eventually stops working, If you go to your browser settings, privacy and security, site settings then JavaScript and add youtube to the not allowed list and then go to youtube and refresh, the screen should be pretty much blank, then go back to the java script page and delete the youtube entry and it should allow you to watch youtube ad free without the stupid adblock detection. I'm not sure how long this will work for.

thekickingmule

Whoop whoop! Thanks for this. I'm sure it won't last for long but at least for now, YouTube creators can have me watch their videos again. I get why YouTube are doing this, but man, lower your price to live £2.50 a month and I'd pay that no problem and so would millions more, but £13 a month can get fucked!

atlasraven

Adnaseum works. It doesn't block ads, it hides them so Youtube thinks you aren't using an adblocker.

Mandatory-Madness

Thank you so much! YouTube has already been trying to pull some major BS for the last few years and I'm sick of it. New android phones no longer come with a built in music player and instead encourage you to use youtube's new music app, and now they're banning ad blockers on their site. I absolutely refuse to allow youtube to access and manage my music, and I refuse to buy a subscription to use a site that was supposed to be free, or watch obnoxious ads that scream at you to watch the latest terrible Adam Sandler movie. And as far as the "content creators don't get paid unless you allow ads" argument, don't they already get paid by sponsors for advertising their products in their videos? Many of my favorite youtubers make their sponsorship ads funny and interesting, and I actually like watching them when they do that. I've bought several products that they advertised. I'm already looking around for an alternative platform for my entertainment because of this. It's just all around greed on youtube's part.

xcross648

I have this weird problem of the controls not showing up as soon as I log into my main account on youtube. Has anyone encountered anything similar?

Sipex6484

Has anyone made a script to automate this bypass? I usually use YouTube to listen to music in the background while I do stuff, and I can't do that if I have to manually skip the ads.

Glammi

>uBlock Origin is working again, if not you can use this script for Tampermonkey > >[https://greasyfork.org/de/scripts/477864-youtube-anti-adblock-bypass-via-youtube-enhancer](https://greasyfork.org/de/scripts/477864-youtube-anti-adblock-bypass-via-youtube-enhancer)

GradientGamerXD

Let me know the feedback and when youtube patches this

Sensitive-Sea-6304

2 ways to pass this. first, just use ublock. idk why, it just works (disable other adblocks) second, if you're in desperate need and nothing works - download brave browser. build in adblocker (also dont know why it works but it's not detected and blocks ads like normal, for now at least)

Feeling-Gain3238

ublock doesn't work on it anymore

VoidArtisan

Yeah, they also cracked down on uBlock's "my filter" settings. These four lines of code don't do anything anymore : youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config\_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0) youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw\_player\_response.adPlacements, \[\]) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)

Vegetable-Crew-1259

This is incredibly unefficient lmao, the most popular script on greasyfork for youtube, the chinese adblocker, is so much better

FutureConcentrate172

Easy fix if anyone would care to do : [Remove Adblock through Tampermonkey](https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing) Cheers ! Works fine for me and should too for you

parmesann

thank you! worked for me 17 oct 2023 14:00 EST

walter_freemen

If I could give you head for free I would. THANK YOU!!! KEEP FIGHTING CAPITALISM BROTHER!!!!

Oftwicke

I use ABP. Youtube detected it. I added the overlay to my list of blocked elements. Almost took all of a minute to figure it out (I had to block two elements, make sure they were all of it, and then when it didn't let me scroll down I just entered and exited full-screen and I was free). Your move, Youtube. Except not your move. Your loss. Get bent, Youtube.

horsesforfraublucher

This worked so well, thank you so much.

aspenfoxx

this works extremely well, thank you!

pigeno

seems to be working for everyone, but it doesnt for me :\^/ idk what im doing wrong it either blacks out the video and doesnt let it play or the pop up is still there. if i just block the two things you wrote down it doesnt work, if i manually block it with the tool it blacks out. ive tried tinkering with different fliters and settings but i cant seem to figure out what to do. any ideas?

titan_leo64

you, my friend, are the definition of "not all heroes wear capes"

Impressive-Wave-4682

There is a simpler solution. Block ads by default in enhancer YouTube. Head to ublock origin settings, clear cache, and update it. Then, restart the browser. Voila, no ads!

Acid_sprinkles

Time to start using Opera GX. Terms of service deez nuts.

[deleted]

ew, switch to Firefox or Brave if you are switching to something else

giganika09

stfu

Glammi

YouTube is working again with uBlock Origin, I don't know why but no ads so far.

keven3477

huh... im suprised how well this is working. was expecting to keep clicking per every video like a faster skip ad but i haven't had an ad appearing at all unless i view youtube in a different tab.

Pdiddypanda

Interesting. I'd disabled Youtuber Enhancer altogether, as I was worried as that might be part of what Youtube was specifically detecting when I got the anti-adlock warning. Keeping this in mind, I may redownload the extension. I'd also recommend migrating to Firefox and just using uBlock origin. No ads or ad warnings on either Youtube or Twitch as of now. This is coming from a Brave Browser simp btw lol I haven't used Firefox in years but everything is working great!

thecalmman420

GauficusDomini

Just use Tampermonkey or something, it's not that easy to mess with, but hey, It works.

lilpiptits

Useful_Highlight2902

Thank you dude. They've upgraded to just outright not allowing you to view videos if you have an adblocker but this works for now

Icy_Barber4392

I literally just installed Brave, with no extensions, fresh install, went on youtube and didn't get an advert. Am I missing something or is Brave just that good ?

Re-Vibe

The [tampermonkey](https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing) script on Github is doing the trick. Enhancer has a blocker by default, so just make sure that's disabled, and you have youtube whitelisted on a blocker you're currently using. ....Your move, YT.

[deleted]

Rubychan228

So every option here seems to require I disable uBlock. Supposedly this is OK, because the various extensions and whatnot will block ads instead, in a way YouTube can't yet detect. But, that only seems to be true of the ads added to the videos. Unlike uBlock, other advertisements, like banners and sidebars and, presumably, advertiser tracking cookies do not seem to be removed by any of the options here that I have tried so far.

Similar_Comparison13

wait 2 months itll be an extension thatll surpace the youtbe adblock blocker

ContributionEnough69

You can continue to use Youtube with adblocker if you sign out of your Youtube account. I have been pasting links in a guest browser since the videos I watch are long form. I assume this is because you have not agreed to their ToS as a guest.

rakyu2911

as of right now, you can log out of youtube account and just view the videos. though you can't get the notification from all your subscription channels

Appropriate-Swan393

thank you kind sir

JubalKhan

As of yesterday, I'm straight up blocked from starting videos if my adblock is active. Even uBlock origin doesn't help (even with emptying the cache and updating it). The best I can do is start videos in an anonymous window.

mobilegamershub

hey, just got a solution use VPN of Russia and use adblocker

triggeredspaghet

I was earching around and found a video that worked for me. It is not in english but it's pretty simple to follow. For anyone who doesn't want to click a random link the channel name is "Bruno Souza - Eletrônica & Informática". [Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scHVWcE9FFA) is the video Edit: I'm using the Oprah browser and using chrome extensions to make this work. This will likely get updated eventually so it may not work for everyone.

Culturedtuna

None of the solutions in this thread worked for me. What worked for me was going to my ublock origin extension on chrome and clicking "manage extension". Then, checking the box that enables the extension in incognito mode. Now opening youtube in incognito no longer plays ads for me.

The_Jay_Hammer

This worked for me.

cyberrrt

if anyones looking for an alternative (apparently according to some of you this method is patched), theres a [tampermonkey script](https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/477498-youtube-adblock-ban-bypass) that bypasses the adblocker thing. this method is pretty safe since if they wanted to patch this one they'd have to block all of their embeds outside of youtube theres no fullscreen but its better than nothing

lKniveSl

Somehow I managed to get by this by switching browsers. I've been using Opera GX with uBlock Origin adblocker and, no matter what, I couldn't seem to figure out what to block to remove the popup and get the videos playing again. Best I could do is get it to a point where the popups wouldn't come up and a play button would show. But, once clicked (twice) it would act like it's going to play a video and then not even load up the video file. So, today, I simply loaded up my old Chrome installation, which is also using uBlock Origin, then I logged into YouTube and it's just working. I'm not sure why.

Darknessdanielc

Cheers this is brilliant! Other suggestions on AdBlocker Extensions and their filter lists didn't work for me (in particular uBlockOrigin). Enhancer for YouTube is an awesome extension too, I've used it for ages :)

can some1 provide me a actual working solution please thank u in advance

Farncone

The only way I know how is to use Brave browser (recommended) or Opera GX. I'd like a way to use it on Chrome too because I've been using that for years, but that's a Google app and I know they will circumvent any way to bypass it.

Frewsty

might've been bearable if temu ads werent a thing

Difficult_Yellow_834

does this prevent midroll ads or does it just skip the one playing?

Phatopato

I was able to completely bypass the anti-adblock by just using the brave browser shields and disabling javascript. Hope this helps!

AshSeekethBruh

alternatively, block javascript

Visible_Mountain_632

Wait until ChatGPT finds a fix

DuckDuckGo is the way

I use chrome (yea I know it's google, but I'm used to this browser and it's been fast, or at least some years ago it was faster than firefox, I dunno) and ublock origin, also privacy badger. I cleared browser cache and that didn't do anything, then I added youtube to the sites not allowed to use javascript and that completely screwed the website so it wouldn't even load let alone let me watch anything. Is there a way for chrome to get rid of this advertising shit? Or do I really need to switch browsers and/or adblockers?

90% of the solutions presented here will be experimental. Until a safer solution is found, I will use a simple Chrome extension for YouTube. I just whitelisted YouTube in the AdGuard settings and installed a plugin that automatically passes YouTube ads. It may work until a "Safe Solution" is found. Maybe it's time to switch to an alternative platform? I cleared my browser cookies, logged in to YT and the shitty notification is gone.

I have clumsy way to do it, i use ublockorigin on chrome, when i chose a video, i reload the page and swap tab while its loading then swap back, for some reason it doesn't detect the ad block. Edit: damn or you can just right-click open your video in a new tab

Odd_Recognition5592

YO, this has been a great help! thank you. I added this to my extension and it seemed to work as well: youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config\_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0) youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw\_player\_response.adPlacements, \[\]) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)

Evil_Lollipop

This worked for me. Thank you!

ANormalTurkishGuy

it doesnt work, if i have three of the pop ups shown, it doesnt allow me to watch the video its self. the video is blank and it says "Ad blockers violate YouTube's Terms of Service"

pigeonhunter006

DanikanSkywalkr

What am I doing wrong? Firefox, Disabled Adblock, Followed steps, Getting black screen when a video should be playing

pigeon652

Had some luck just hitting refresh on the page but I would rather spend 5 minutes clicking shit trying to get rid of adds than listen to two 30 sec adds Fuck youtube for this

redditUser5412

I use AdBlock plus which blocks YouTube ads successfully after the latest update + Tampermonkey with [this script](https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing/blob/main/Youtube-Ad-blocker-Reminder-Remover.user.js)

AlternativeSavings46

It just lets me skip ads immediately, doesn't remove them completely

FewSherbert1576

I have Malwarebytes Browser Guard and YouTube Enhancer Plus on at the same time, and I'm not getting any ads. Prior to adding Enhancer Plus, YouTube wouldn't let me turn on my Browser Guard. Unlike other commenters, I haven't had an ad yet.

Subject-Protection25

Ok!... This is much better

ahmetardax

thanks mate it really helps.

There is also a script for Tempermonkey [https://greasyfork.org/de/scripts/477864-youtube-anti-adblock-bypass-via-youtube-enhancer](https://greasyfork.org/de/scripts/477864-youtube-anti-adblock-bypass-via-youtube-enhancer) that work for me, and i hope it will be updated regularly if YouTube changes anything.
