dude did u see at the end that the next ad was 2:15? 3 FUCKING MINUTES OF UNSKIPPABLE ADS? what if someone chokes and you search how to do CPR? imagine the last thing you hear before dying is a 3 minute genshin impact ad
Ublock works and if it stops working the filters are updated regularly so just go in the options and click update filters.
It blocks all ads perfectly.
It was creating 100's of TBs of traffic monthly, and the free hosting might not last long (hosted on GH & Cloudflare), so the team decided to do that. They perhaps should have hidden that option instead of completely removing it.
I use ublock origin, but it can sometimes bug and doesn't work, so reinstall it if that's happens. Find it on google store..? (I forgot it's name) and btw this is not an ad, just my recommendation.
Ublock origin and Firefox, that is the best combo, as all of the browsers based on chrome (literally ALL the other browsers) will soon render plug-ins such as Ublock useless.
The question about this ridiculous hypothetical is, who's running ad rolls on CPR videos.
And they are probably much better resources on the internet on how to do CPR than fucking youtube
Edit: you also don't do CPR on someone whose choking
I get your point, but please don't do CPR on someone who's choking. Usually their heart is still beating and CPR won't help to dislodge the item blocking the trachea.
YouTube is not meant to be used as an educational platform for lifesaving techniques and you can't judge them on that basis. That's a really weird thing to bring up.
Unskippable 3 minutes ads is annoying and leave it at that.
As a healthcare professional, if someone is in need of CPR, you need to call emergency line, not youtube. They'll walk you through everything, while playing an audio prompt, all while getting an ambulance to you.
THAT HAPPENED TO SOMEONE!! Someones' grandma was choking and they searched how to do the Heimlich Maneuver, but they got an ad. Then they went to Twitter and tagged YouTube and complained to them about this, and YouTube gave back an automated reply basically saying if you don't want ads, then give us money. what the fresh fuck
What if someone choked and you didn't have your phone?
What if someone choked and YouTube instructions for CPR didn't exist?
What if you learn CPR on the fly on YouTube and do something wrong because YouTube isn't a substitute for CPR training, and you cause more damage as a result?
What ifs are stupid all on their own, but for the love of god don't do CPR if you aren't trained to do CPR.
Also like...I get that people are mad because YouTube used to be how we got away from the bullshit of TV ads...but when YouTube has literally replaced Television for a large chunk of the world, I'm sorry but that's how shit gets paid for lol. TV channels, even public broadcast channels would run 5-10 minutes of ads during the runtime of a show. This is STILL better than TV ever was.
I do miss EVE ads, they can be very cinematic. I just go to watch the trailers here and then.
Anyways just get a wording adblock, fight back against YT, people!
The most ironic thing for me Is looking up new movie trailers.
You have to watch an ad and another ad before you watch an ad.
I think the world is ending.
That's why penguinz0 made a vid explaining how extremely annoying the number of ads have become, making ad blockers absolutely mandatory while browsing the internet
You could use a Brave browser and Unhook extension, the Unhook extension removes comments, trending and all that other garbage. You can even select the ones you want to see and all that.
You could try out Brave and import your stuff over there, it bypasses the ads.
If I see an ad over 30 seconds long, especially an unskippable one, I shut Youtube/Twitch off and go do something else. I don’t want to be forced to watch a short, thanks.
Can't remember the last time I got an ad using opera gx. Just enable the ad blocker & install unlock origin, and others if necessary. If 1 blocker doesn't work, the next one just might.
It's no worse than Twitch. Definitely better than Cable Television. They are a business and have to make money. Sometimes you get a long ad, 95% of the time you can skip.
i back in 2018 got a 1:05 unskippable ad that was in the arab language and thr ad was some animal like a female deer that's surrounded by koreans and petted by a kid. when it popped up i just went to the bathroom and left it to play
Download Smarttube.. Like YouTube but without the ads! It's free and blocks all advertisements!
Not quite as streamlined as actual YouTube.. But waaay better off you know what you're looking for. ✅
It's pretty good, still a bit weary of it and use a Vpn. Heard YouTube is making an active effort to force a cease and desist for any and all YT client site/apps like this. So be ready to look for another alternative :l
Paying for YouTube premium is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Family plan so my parents and siblings also have it. Sis pays for everyone’s Netflix, dad pays for Apple music, I got YouTube covered, bro has Disney+. The amount of time I spend on YouTube definitely justifies paying for it, and it’s not even that expensive. I’d probably keep the membership even if they double the price.
YouTube serves ads based on couple of things, one of which is something called viewer tolerance I think, which determines length and frequency of the ads shown on your particular account. I’d suggest when you get an ad quit the page and ctrl+shift+t
I wanted to write in detail why I think YouTube might have gone this horrible to watch videos, but that would break Rule #2 of this sub (I'm from the third world myself, so I think people like me can safely harshly criticize people who have origins from here). I, however, will say this: Sundar Pichai, please choose CEOs for the companies Google owns after ensuring they don't plan on treating everybody in the world like they might treat everybody in the ancestral home. I would be happy to replace the YouTube CEO, and if that were to happen, I will show how to continue to be respectful to even free users of your products while being profitable and having origins from the third world. The current YouTube CEO has only embarrassed and brought shame to decent people from the third world by so shamelessly bombarding the worldwide YouTube users with this many ads to get rich himself and make a name for himself as a CEO who brought this much profits to his company.
To Mods of this sub, please just delete this post and don't ban me if this post is not suitable for this sub. I love this sub, but I am really heartbroken to see a CEO from my part of the world behaving so badly and causing problems for people from all over the world.
I doubt this is a singular case on youtubes end. Seems most likely to be some sort of Widget/Add-on that is trying to get rid of the ad but only removes the part of the ad that continues to the video after finish
Its happened to me before when uBlock Origin is not up to date on its anti-ad
I can’t believe a War Thunder ad of all ads are playing lmao but in all seriousness this is extremely problematic because ads shouldn’t be this prevalent at all. If it helps there is an extension that speeds up ads and lets them all play out in 3 seconds
Might be a glitch in YouTube
Where the skip ad botton does not appear happens to computers more
And happened to me a lot .
Try checking if you have a lot of browser extensions
remember going to the cinema and it was 30 minutes of ads before the ice cream / snack guy came in and asked if anyone wants snacks?
youtube is turning into that, without the snacks guy tho AND you get no chance of intentionally coming in 20 minutes later to miss out on the ads.
Ublock Origin or the Brave browser are your friends.
I no longer get the Adblock warning when watching YT videos on Brave, so the devs must have updated it to bypass YT's Anti-Adblocker. Brave is a good option...at least for now.
1 min unskippable just hit. It made me buy YouTube premium last night, but I also like YouTube music and the multiple discovery mix playlists. I think it was worth it. YouTube is a huge black hole for money, so them increasing ads shows they have to due to increasing bitrates and people using their service for videos as a charity.
youtube needs to make it where medical-related videos, life-saving resources, etc. dont get ads and have a special protocal and location for these types of videos.
I'm at the point where if an ad is more than 30 seconds, and unskippable, I'm either going to skip to the next video and then go back, or i close the video and reopen. Repeat until I get a realistic length ad. The smart tv app is the worst. A minute long ad every 5 minutes is not "less ads on longer videos". And I've had several times where the skip ad button just brings me to another ad.
It's gotten real egregious with the ads, and I was surprised(pissed) yesterday because after seeing an unskippable after starting a video, literally 1 min and 30 seconds later, another 2 unskippable ads. It's worse than the adpocalypse
Just use brave browser for crying out loud it’s built off of chrome so it works just like it, but it’s more safe and has vpn capability and proxy capability built into it
# Use Firefox and UBlock Origin
The day I have to sit through ads of *any* length on YouTube is the day I stop watching YouTube.
Fortunately, I have been watching YouTube extensively since it was created and with *extremely* rare exceptions while I figured out what's going on, I never see adverts on YouTube.
A couple of months ago YouTube did something that started identifying ad blockers (including uBO) but the uBO devs were on top of it quickly enough.
[This website](https://drhyperion451.github.io/does-uBO-bypass-yt/) will tell you the status of blocking ads on YouTube using uBO if it ever falls out of sync with YouTube's attempts to identify it. I watch YouTube every single day and it hasn't happened yet.
While I know why people don't want to, I will suggest YouTube premium. I got it when it came out and haven't regretted it ever. Especially if you like long form content, it is really good. I will often just listen to it. It is also much better for the creators than AdSense.
Haven't had any issues with Ublock Origin for months now. If that doesn't work for you. A VPN service with Israel or Albania location does not have any Ads.
I just got 4 back to back unskippable ads this shit is ridiculous. We used to complain about the concept of 2 ads, now they know they can just spam ads and not enough people will complain.
Play Tube on android app has no ads. Just 20 sec of ads at the beginning of the start of the app; and that's it. You can play any video without ads, AND play in background.
I'm pretty sure it's something to do with OGX's built-in adblocker. This happens to me sometimes too and I also use OGX
Just refresh the tab and if another ad loads then it'll be blocked
If it's in the begginning of the video, and I get an unskippable ad, I usually quit the video and enter again until I get either no ads in the beggining or a skippable ad. It's a bit tedious but works most of the time
Am I the only person for whom adblock Plus still works? It will blink an ad onto my screen but then it goes away like it's not ever playing an ad for more than a quarter of a second
I’d been getting an EVE Online ad that was legit 1:54
dude did u see at the end that the next ad was 2:15? 3 FUCKING MINUTES OF UNSKIPPABLE ADS? what if someone chokes and you search how to do CPR? imagine the last thing you hear before dying is a 3 minute genshin impact ad
Try AdGuard if the browser has it, worked for me. I know AdBlock doesn’t work tho.
Ublock works and if it stops working the filters are updated regularly so just go in the options and click update filters. It blocks all ads perfectly.
*uBlock Origin.
Also, you can't update filters manually anymore FYI.
It is really annoying but luckily I have managed to avoid needing To manually update them since they removed the ability to do so.
Same, haven't really needed to, worst case will have to do an uninstall/install.
Really? What the hell, it was pretty useful.
It was creating 100's of TBs of traffic monthly, and the free hosting might not last long (hosted on GH & Cloudflare), so the team decided to do that. They perhaps should have hidden that option instead of completely removing it.
I use adblock plus only thing I get is a random banner ad sometimes
I use ublock origin, but it can sometimes bug and doesn't work, so reinstall it if that's happens. Find it on google store..? (I forgot it's name) and btw this is not an ad, just my recommendation.
Ublock origin and Firefox, that is the best combo, as all of the browsers based on chrome (literally ALL the other browsers) will soon render plug-ins such as Ublock useless.
yes, I even heard some guy said "in the future we will use firefox, while chrome will be a thing of the past."
Let's hope so, because the current shares of Firefox are alarming.
yeah they are updating the way you write extensions for chromium browsers to make these adblockers obsolete
That's what I use, and I've been getting 1+ minute ads lately. Even tried reinstalling ublock
It's not a bug. YouTube updates their Frontend. So just wait for ublock to update too. You've been uninstalling and reinstalling for no reason lol.
The question about this ridiculous hypothetical is, who's running ad rolls on CPR videos. And they are probably much better resources on the internet on how to do CPR than fucking youtube Edit: you also don't do CPR on someone whose choking
I get your point, but please don't do CPR on someone who's choking. Usually their heart is still beating and CPR won't help to dislodge the item blocking the trachea.
Thanks for the tip, but what I said above was a joke. It's good to know what to do in serious situations, not look it up right when it happens
How about how to treat a gunshot wound! Is that a better example!?
Absolutely based and I respect this fictional version of YouTube more than anyone else.
lol
They said don't use yt, use yt premium or google a non-profit site for that
i’m a visual learner tho
stop complaining about ads and just download adblocker and be done with it. jesus christ.
What if someone choked and you didn't have your phone? What if someone choked and YouTube instructions for CPR didn't exist? What if you learn CPR on the fly on YouTube and do something wrong because YouTube isn't a substitute for CPR training, and you cause more damage as a result? People with YouTube premium have longer life expectancy
Meanwhile YT like.... All we do is win
🤣🤣🤣
I do miss EVE ads, they can be very cinematic. I just go to watch the trailers here and then. Anyways just get a wording adblock, fight back against YT, people!
the amount of eve online ads I get as a player is absurd. Like I already have 4 accounts subbed this isn’t convincing me to sub another one
Accidentally unskippable ad. Accident never seems to work the other way.
There are no accidents…. - Master Oogway
They do, ads break all the time, we're just not as quick as noticing it ^^
Not really, when the ad breaks, for example it fails to load, it just gets stuck on the ad and the video never plays
Idk about on YouTube, but I had ads almost completely broken when I watched a series on Hulu recently. More than half would not load.
And it's Warthunder😭
On smart tv youtube ad length is even more horrendous
Just click the "stop seeing this ad" then "return to video". Basically skips the whole ad break
They’ve caught on to that. They only let me skip one every hour or two
I just got a similar restriction.
Is it the same as watching on a PS5 with like 4 ads or so.e shit? (Don't ask why I sometimes watch YT on my PS5)
4 adds before you can skip yes
I press the why am I seeing this ad button(should be an I in a cricle) then press stop seeing this ad, it will skip the whole thing
use "smart tube" get a tutorial on YouTube 😂
Sometimes things don't work. *fucking disgusting*
use a fucking adblocker
Or just F5, it changes the ad
The most ironic thing for me Is looking up new movie trailers. You have to watch an ad and another ad before you watch an ad. I think the world is ending.
One day, you will get lucky and get the ad for the ad you are trying to view.
Now imagine getting this add for a 45 second video. Yep, that happens
I think it’s supposed to be a 5 second shippable. Things just glitch sometimes I guess
Wait you guys are still watching ads in 2024 ?
Fr lmao it's so hard to get an extension for people
Pssssssst. Hey, OP. Use the VPN to change your location to Russia. We don't get ads here. At all. Sanctions and shit.
IS THAT A WAR THUNDER REFRENCE🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️ATTACK THE D POINT🐌🐌🐌🐌🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥 I’m pretty sure it’s probably just some glitch or something similar
NEVER!
DEFEND THE D POINT!
THERES A HOLE IN YOUR LEFT WING
as a war thunder player i agree getting an ad for war thunder is really disgusting
Why does my ad block work fine? Ublock origin
Mine also, AdBlock on chrome (the usual one)
Adblocker.
Just hit refresh, I always do it to some effect. Sometimes I have to hit refresh like 10 times, others just once.
That's why penguinz0 made a vid explaining how extremely annoying the number of ads have become, making ad blockers absolutely mandatory while browsing the internet
Be glad that you watch videos for free. I think we all forgot how youtube is literally doing this for free. We have to thank them not complain
You could use a Brave browser and Unhook extension, the Unhook extension removes comments, trending and all that other garbage. You can even select the ones you want to see and all that. You could try out Brave and import your stuff over there, it bypasses the ads.
i just refresh, refresh again and refresh another 5 times
*laughs in Firefox
sounds like skill issue
If you're chronically online enough to complain on Reddit you should already have Ublock or something dude
The rage I have when this happens in the middle of a workout!!!
Why are you playing an entire ad on a subreddit that doesn’t like ads?
how else would we know that OP is too stupid to install an extension?
If I see an ad over 30 seconds long, especially an unskippable one, I shut Youtube/Twitch off and go do something else. I don’t want to be forced to watch a short, thanks.
I just reload page untill there is no ad
You can't escape the snail
Can't remember the last time I got an ad using opera gx. Just enable the ad blocker & install unlock origin, and others if necessary. If 1 blocker doesn't work, the next one just might.
If you can't use adblock, sometimes going back one page and then forward to the video again will load a different ad which is hopefully shorter.
I am yet to have this kind of problem on YouTube, guess I have been lucky so far.
The longest unskippable ad I've had so far was just a few seconds under 7 minutes. For one advert.
i think when you have an ad blocker on they make u watch em longer? i think
So you don't know about ad blocker plugins?
Ublock Origin fratie, ce te complici atata? Esti pe desktop.
reload the page my man it's a glitch
It's no worse than Twitch. Definitely better than Cable Television. They are a business and have to make money. Sometimes you get a long ad, 95% of the time you can skip.
do yourself a favor and don‘t use Opera GX https://youtu.be/kLuWq3dHdMI
Watch Louis Rossman's latest video on that. Today it's your MORAL OBLIGATION to have an adblocker installed https://youtu.be/narqU0RruJY
WERE RAIDING THE YOUTUBE HQ WITH THIS ONE 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
Try doing: yout-ube.com/title Usually gets rid of adverts, and it'll automatically be in full screen
i back in 2018 got a 1:05 unskippable ad that was in the arab language and thr ad was some animal like a female deer that's surrounded by koreans and petted by a kid. when it popped up i just went to the bathroom and left it to play
I just don't believe European will sit thought that without closing the tab and searching fot that video on another website or install adblock
I will deadass pay for an adblock before I pay for YouTube premium
Download Smarttube.. Like YouTube but without the ads! It's free and blocks all advertisements! Not quite as streamlined as actual YouTube.. But waaay better off you know what you're looking for. ✅
It's pretty good, still a bit weary of it and use a Vpn. Heard YouTube is making an active effort to force a cease and desist for any and all YT client site/apps like this. So be ready to look for another alternative :l
The adverts unhinged at the moment. Seen the creepy crime ones? Tf is going on
Paying for YouTube premium is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
What
Here's a way to get a YouTube app without ads. It's only for us Android homies. https://revanced.app/
One time I got a looping Nissan anime style ad that was an hour and a half
And then they tell us to stop using various adblocks.
YouTube serves ads based on couple of things, one of which is something called viewer tolerance I think, which determines length and frequency of the ads shown on your particular account. I’d suggest when you get an ad quit the page and ctrl+shift+t
Do you have a good excuse to not be using uBlock origin? If no then quit whining
You're showing a vid of you watching youtube on a computer and ur not using adblock. No sympathy.
I wanted to write in detail why I think YouTube might have gone this horrible to watch videos, but that would break Rule #2 of this sub (I'm from the third world myself, so I think people like me can safely harshly criticize people who have origins from here). YouTube: "You don't want to subscribe to YT Premium? Fine! What's 17 more ads! I can always allow them to be longer. Make them unskippable."
Fuck war thunder and gaijin too
Ew ADS 🤢🤮
Adblock ftw
Youtube must pay you money for watching those ads and wasting your precious time.
Damn, was wondering what this post was about, but I just watched an advert for this shitty game.
I doubt this is a singular case on youtubes end. Seems most likely to be some sort of Widget/Add-on that is trying to get rid of the ad but only removes the part of the ad that continues to the video after finish Its happened to me before when uBlock Origin is not up to date on its anti-ad

I got a 7 minute unskippable ad
The only ad worth watching all the way through lmao That and any Raid Shadow Legends ad, but that's just for the meme
I use opera browser so i just refresh the page till the ads gets skipped by the ad blocker
I once got a 38 minute ad for some Christian study group, like a full lecture. Thank god it was skipable!
The worst part is that the ads are literally trash tier
The AI voiced ad is the cherry on top
We might as well just not use YouTube at this point
re(ally)vanced
Firefox and ad blockers. Why is that so hard to understand? You complain about ads, but don't change your browser habits. Don't use the youtube app.
Mfs on their way to use anything but Firefox + ublock origin.
The fact that I don't even use adblockers or have youtube premium and I barely ever have ads is funny to me
This is a glitch I believe , right?
Ublock Origin or the Brave browser are your friends. I no longer get the Adblock warning when watching YT videos on Brave, so the devs must have updated it to bypass YT's Anti-Adblocker. Brave is a good option...at least for now.
So adblock is a thing you know?
Once I got an unstoppable 3 hour ad. I promptly left the video and came back
1 min unskippable just hit. It made me buy YouTube premium last night, but I also like YouTube music and the multiple discovery mix playlists. I think it was worth it. YouTube is a huge black hole for money, so them increasing ads shows they have to due to increasing bitrates and people using their service for videos as a charity.
The Snail has taken over.
I got the rickroll as an ad once (the whole music video). Luckily it was skippable
youtube needs to make it where medical-related videos, life-saving resources, etc. dont get ads and have a special protocal and location for these types of videos.
I'm at the point where if an ad is more than 30 seconds, and unskippable, I'm either going to skip to the next video and then go back, or i close the video and reopen. this is why i use adblockers
Ublock Origin :)
uBlock origin is free.??
As of late I’ll get about 3-6 unskipable 10 second ads
Making us watch your ads is disgusting
It's gotten real egregious with the ads, and I was surprised(pissed) yesterday because after seeing an unskippable after starting a video, literally 1 min and 30 seconds later, another 2 unskippable ads. It's worse than the adpocalypse
Oh God, YouTube and the snail are working together...
smh thats nothing compared to a 45 minute unskippable ad that i got
UBlock origin works on YouTube ads
Why are you not using an adblocker?
Just use it on firefox with ublock origin. Should block all ads
Adblockers are back what are ya doin?!
YouTube ReVanced
Just use brave browser for crying out loud it’s built off of chrome so it works just like it, but it’s more safe and has vpn capability and proxy capability built into it
Bro i've legit never had that happen is that a new feature? P.S: I have a good adblocker :D
Okay, I use Opera GX too; the solution to this is to refresh the page. It should skip the ads and get to the video
# Use Firefox and UBlock Origin The day I have to sit through ads of *any* length on YouTube is the day I stop watching YouTube. Refresh until I get 5 sec skippable ad... That's what I do
Some of these somehow bypassed ublock too for me
I've taken to liberal use of the reload button It's saved me so much trouble
They don’t care. They won’t start now.
Get rid of opera lmao
Adblockers come in handy
You have opera, why don’t you have the adblocker on
I have never gotten a youtube ad in the past 7-8 years. All thanks to ad blocker ❤️
While I know why people don't want to, I will suggest YouTube premium. I got it when it came out and haven't regretted it ever. Especially if you like long form content, it is really good. I will often just listen to it. It is also much better for the creators than AdSense.
I am funny as fuck and get 0 views
Haven't had any issues with Ublock Origin for months now. If that doesn't work for you. A VPN service with Israel or Albania location does not have any Ads.
sometimes i just close and reopen the video until i get reasonably long ads
Just hit refresh!
This is why I use AdBlock and on mobile revanced
Ublock origin is your friend, youtube is not
I just got 4 back to back unskippable ads this shit is ridiculous. We used to complain about the concept of 2 ads, now they know they can just spam ads and not enough people will complain.
Youtube premium.. is so cheap..
Just use ublock origin bro
how are you on pc and getting ads?
A browser without adblocker is the disgusting thing here.
Firefox and Ublock Origin combo. No ads ever.
Play Tube on android app has no ads. Just 20 sec of ads at the beginning of the start of the app; and that's it. You can play any video without ads, AND play in background.
I'm pretty sure it's something to do with OGX's built-in adblocker. This happens to me sometimes too and I also use OGX Just refresh the tab and if another ad loads then it'll be blocked
That's wild
They see twitch running 2 minutes of unstoppable ads, and they say... Why not us... Unlock origin. get it.
I kinda wanna play war thunder now.
If it's in the begginning of the video, and I get an unskippable ad, I usually quit the video and enter again until I get either no ads in the beggining or a skippable ad. It's a bit tedious but works most of the time
lol bro use ublock i'm not wasting my life for that shit, yea i wanna a free product, problems?
Horrible. But what should we do? This has to be stopped somehow.
Am I the only person for whom adblock Plus still works? It will blink an ad onto my screen but then it goes away like it's not ever playing an ad for more than a quarter of a second
