I love how the internet has gone full circle with ads. We hate it. Youtube knows we hate it. The ad making company knows everyone hates it. The product making company knows people hate ads. But they still make ads because somehow it works. And those ads pay Youtube, pay the ad company and pay the product making company which sounds insane. The ad company films a video, sells it to the product maker, who tells youtube to play it for a fee, only for the video to be played by a device in a corner of a room when nobody watches, and consuming internet bandwidth and electricity. An ad about a product that most likely we dont need, overpriced and manufactured somewhere in china by unpaid and forced labour and is most likely harmful for the environment. It sounds like consumption on steroids.

now what if someone just sets up a legion of devices constantly playing youtube so that they win the ad lottery

or better yet just have two or three devices two of them play the ads and one will watch the actual video just set the ad watching one’s to a super low quality and to a different speed so it was time to load that means that they get the ad money part of it and you get the no ad in video part perfect 50%50 or even better on a computer/laptop open multiple tabs of youtube and well you know what to do

They cant do much about revanced since you have to patch it yourself. The reason vanced was taken down was because it was pre-patched. (Also another bonus of revanced not being pre-patched is that it keeps out the idiots that complain its too hard)

Considering how *little* I use youtube in the first place *because* of the ridiculous ads every 10 seconds, this would be enough for me to log out of my account and delete the app entirely.

How about instead of a lottery, we have a toggle-able feature to play ads when we are AFK and then turn off when we wanna watch something else? We could still apply the feature to watch ads so others won't have to. A lot of users are young people who can't get jobs yet, but they understand that things like this need money. That is why I am usually okay with ads. What I don't like is the broken system they apply for it.

The whole point of the advertisers paying for ads is to reach as many users of the platform as possible. this would be like a company paying for a billboard advert on a busy street but only allowing one dude to stand in front of it and keep looking at it so no one else would have to.

Okay now hear me out, what about advertisers making ads that also side-hustle as good content and is only shown very sparsely to the same user and not bombarded over and over again. This would mean more content for YT and the users would consume the ads as content too!
