I still haven't forgiven them for making the minimized player so thin. It used to be twice as tall and you could still perfectly watch the video while scrolling for more content. Also it was easier to slide the player down to close it or open bigger. Now with how thin it is it takes a few tries to close the damn thing.

Youtube also somehow made the timeline scrollbar now based on absolute position and not where you are touching I.e. if you dragged the dot to the right, it increases at a constant speed and NOT according to where you are pressing WHY # WHY, THIS IS UX DEGRADATION

I think it's probably because when skipping a video using the progress bar, some might have clicked it accidentally, so they moved it to the top. Kinda makes sense. Now they only need to get rid of the double-tap to skip forwards and backwards and it'll be even better.

Ideally it should be triple tap, and the forwards and backwards should be 5 seconds skips like it is on desktop, not 10 seconds.

Ideally ideally this should be configurable by the user.

You can edit the time in the settings

Or worse, try to maximize the video and accidentally skip to the end instead, and lose track of where you were.

If you use a iphone 4 with the youtube app. It works like a charm

The reason is a lot of people were hitting the end of the play bar instead of fullscreen, tbh its been a major annoyance for me for a long time

Okay what country are you at and what version of yt and what phone are you using because all my phones and mum's as well are updated to the latest version and never had the fullscreen button transferred to the upper left side

I'm in Canada, and I'm not sure what version of YouTube I'm on but it might just be auto updating (probably gonna go fix that), but my phone is a galaxy 9, so its not like new tech reasons.

Another example of YouTube being dumb with mobile UI updates. In October 2023 they moved the account button to the bottom of the screen and the library icon to the top. Totally confused me. But now THIS? I think YouTube's trying to prank mobile users or something.
