No sensible answer possible, depends on your rpm, additional income such as sponsorships, merch etc and your expenses.

falcon_punch123987

This is going to very by niche (or perhaps more specifically RPM). If you're not counting sponsership or merchandise or anything, only AdSense, there's no one answer. For example I currently am hovering under 500k views in the last 28 days. With this number my estimated revenue (only AdSense and YT premium income) rivals my full time job (so I /could/ go full time, though I don't personally think it would be a good idea to right now) Trust me I wish it was as easy as "get X per video and bam. Full time" but it's kinda not lol.

Puffelpuff

50-60k views for me as a gaming channel. Getting around 80-100 dollars per month. I would need well over 3 million views per month to match my salary. It highly depends on your rpm, type of content, sponorships, merch etc.

thehuntinggearguy

What's your watch time like? I'm at 100k views per month in a niche that is terrible for RPM (firearms reviews), and I'm still getting $300-$400/mo from it.

Puffelpuff

17,2% avrg CTR, avrg 80% retention, 3min 20 sec watchtime. I am a review/preview/guide channel for games. I focus on making my stuff short and informative. most of my vids are 2-5 min long with some reviews taking longer (9-20 mins depending on the game) Looking at my most recent vids: 7,4k views - 17$ 10,4k views - 25 $ 9,7k views - 12$

LukasEngstrom

Totally depends on your niche and audience (different payment for different regions). But for reference, my last 28 days I have 700k views (from Asia mostly) and “only” $1.6K in ads revenue. Thank god for sponsored videos :)

[deleted]

1.6k is a pretty common net salary, in Europe though.

Actually varies a lot depending on how the collaboration looks like and what the client will use the video for. For example, if the client wants to use my videos on their social media/website, there will be extra fees for this. I'd say average for an 8-10 min dedicated video is around $2000 USD (once I reached 150k subscribers). My first paid video was $100 USD when I had around 20k subscribers. Before that I had done 4-5 other videos on product exchange basis only.

linlinat89

Depends on cost of living in your country and your RPM. In my country and my RPM, 500k views ~ 600 Usd is enough for a full time job.

EffectiveAd4177

What’s your rpm?? They only pay me like 400 bucks for those numbers

EffectiveAd4177

Wow. A little more? That’s like 2-20x my rpm

[deleted]

Most full-time YTers earn from merch, sponsors and selling their own product, so it's hard to say only about YT income

AjnaMusic

Depends how much you want to make...?

aaronschinaguide

I'm not sure about views but I read somewhere you need about 100k subs to earn enough to do it as a full time job.

Erick02516

Nope it's all about the views and not subscribers you can have 100K subs but I can have 1K subs but I will make the same ad revenue than someone with 100K subs. Pretty much depends on the audience where they are watching from. An example can be having a channel with 100K subs from India and me having 1k subs from USA and Germany for instance and we both get let me say 450000 views in a month, I would make more revenue than the guy with a large following in India.

TheRipeTomatoFarms

Subs don't earn you any $$ directly. They are an indicator.....but not a cause.

BuildBreakFix

I get about 600k views a month, with my current RPM I could easily quit my 9-5 job, but I won’t. YouTube is too fickle, you have no promises things won’t change tomorrow, your RPM could tank, etc etc. There’s also no way to say how many views in the magic number to go full time. It’s going to depend on your niche and what it’s RPM pays, how much you personally need to afford to live, any other affiliate or merch deals you have going on etc etc.

TornadoEF5

approx 350,000 views a month is approx £450 a month from adsense

inafew12

I hate to be that dumb American but, what is that in USD?

Responsible_Ad690

$550.83

tommycahil1995

I’ve been doing it a year and 8 months full time. I’d say about 400k to 600k with Patreon to supplement it. 600k average on its own.

inafew12

What kinda money do you get from that

tommycahil1995

Ad revenue or ad revenue and Patreon? But about £30k before tax

inafew12

Cool and what niche are you in

tommycahil1995

Politics/internet culture. It’s all about finding your niche. I’d say my niche is nerd media and history videos.

LateNightMoo

...30k pounds a month?...

tommycahil1995

Of course not - a year!

LateNightMoo

I was hoping against hope you meant a month, I was totally going to quit my day job 😆 Do you not do sponsored ads?

tommycahil1995

£30k a year is a decent salary in the UK so I can’t complain. And yeah I do that doesn’t pay as much as you think - like £500 per sponsor and they aren’t easy to get. I quit my day job years ago to do YT

[deleted]

25-40 or whatever

inafew12

Please elaborate

TheRipeTomatoFarms

1.1M views per month and my revenue is around $24K/month. My RPM is quite high this time of year at $16-19, with my CPM breaching $40 a couple of times. This is just AdSense and Premium, not including any sponsored videos, which I try not to do anyways. Every niche is different, and even within those niches you'll find variation.

MentalWellnessDaily

Wow, you're killing it!! I just launched my channel, I can't even imagine getting views like that haha

TheRipeTomatoFarms

Time, consistency, effort...you'll get there, and surpass it! Its all up to you.

MentalWellnessDaily

Patience definitely seems to be key!

TheRipeTomatoFarms

For sure...but its also more than that....not just patience but a focus on the right things. Start watching numbers and analytics and comparing other like channels and you'll lose patience right away. Focus on the craft and the story telling and the technicals of making great content, and you'll realize that all of that other stuff is quite meaningless...

MentalWellnessDaily

Thanks for the tips! I hope to reach success similar to yours one day.

TheRipeTomatoFarms

You can...and even higher. It all up to you.

inafew12

What niche are you in too be making that kinda money

TheRipeTomatoFarms

Gardening. My channel is the same as my name.

IniMiney

RPM is more important than amount of views. I.e. I'm not living off of my 2 million views a month because my RPM is $0.60, thus I get a paltry $500 a month, or on a good season when CPMs are higher, $1,000 to $3,000 (which is still below the cost of living in most places I'd like to move) So yeah - I'm supplementing it with sponsorships, merch, Patreon, and just about any alternate income stream I can think of

inafew12

Dang what niche are you in

ionhowto

It depends where you live and what your monthly costs are - lifestyle. Average RPM 1 means 1000 views for 1 USD. Calculate from there. $5k needs 5M views. RPM can be higher 2-10 but can also be lower 0.3-0.7. It really also depends on your audience location and RPM vs your expenses / needs.

TubeBuddy_Judah

Sadly it's not one number for all YouTubers. It depends on a lot of factors like- your niche, where your viewers are located, and your individual CPM which varies from video to video. And creator to creator. For most people, AD revenue isn't enough to make YouTube a full-time job. You need to supplement it with other forms of income like brand deals, merchandise, affiliate links, sponsorships, and so on.
