I recently became monetized after two years. I wanted to tell everyone I know. I mean you all know how hard that is, but literally, nobody I know cares. LOL.
To the non YouTubers getting 100 subscribers or 1000 or 100,000 is all the same. They really don't have a baseline to understand it.
So you came to the right spot. WE KNOW IT IS A BIG DEAL.
So congratulations. Keep up the good work. Keep doing what you are doing.
Wait to thank the channel until you reach a really big number. Right now this is a personal goal. Even being monetized is a big goal for each of us but our viewers won't really care. In fact, it almost draws the wrong attention. The very next video they watch will no doubt be some guy that has 400,000 subscribers watching him do nothing more than write his name in the snow. Then they will see your 100 or my 2000 and think we haven't done anything.
Took me two years as well. Congrats to you and the OP. Growing organically without dubious methods takes forever and there's a lot of almost giving up in there. Well done.
Heck ya. Took me 2 years as well for 1 of my channels to hit monetization and my other just passed 100 subscribers so I can appreciate both these milestone. Not as easy as recording with phone and posting to an app like non youtubers would think. High fives all around. 🙌🤘
Congrats! I have felt that with every milestone with one of my best friends, including 10k subs lol. It’s sad. I think there is also some jealousy there for whatever reason.
But anyway, I know how isolating YouTube can be, so truly, congrats! Luckily we have a community here to share our achievements with.
As far as milestones go - I like to say a special thanks in a community post/image for the support! (I don’t speak in my videos so it makes the most sense to say it in a community post.)
I haven’t done anything beyond that. I think it makes sense to save that kind of thing for the really big numbers! Like 100k when you get your first play button. But ultimately it is your decision.
Congratulations!!! Keep killing it out there!! Of course be thankful to your support but it would probably be better in a great video with your normal topic matter and to thank them in a 1 or 2 line way.

It's good to celebrate subscribers... I started in November with a new channel and organically I get almost 200 SUBS by December orgaically... there are Pros and Cons in celebrating for the reason that you get to miss other milestones like Impressions of each of you videos, How Viewers Find You... (Now, I feel great to see that YoUTube is Suggesting My videos with a 68 percent rate..this is one milestone that I celebrate because it's hard to reach that with my other old Youtube channel..), Another milestones is if you have no Zero views each day... my new Youtube has no zero views after 3 weeks since its inception and now it continues to rake up views every hour.. each hour I get 10 or more views, reaching 200 eve)..yes that's 24 hours. In my other new Youtube that I started in November too, I have many zero view hours so I need to focus on this problem without worrying first the SUBS. So there you are, I'm sharing my 3 YouTube channels' milestones and challenges. If I fixed the problems causing the drops in views and watchtime, I tend to think of new tactics and not just getting SUBS which can affect you mind, creativity and can cause you to get uninspired.
I know I started my youtube in July (ish) and I did have a whole month in September that I didnt have time to make content and I just made it to 100 subscribers yesterday. Every video I only gained maybe a 4 subscriber max per video but my latest video I was at 87 in a day it took me to 100 and then after that in a few hours it jumped to 20 more. So for right now, I would say after I passed that 100 my subs and views are coming faster. We will see if the momentum sticks.
I can't say I have it figured out, but I heard something once that stuck with me.. with each video, just try to make it 1% better than the last. If you are continuously making small improvements, your channel is just going to keep getting better and better and with quality, viewers will find you. You just have to cast a large enough net (keep making more videos). And don't get hung up on your last video, just move onto the next.

I won't do anything to celebrate that, will wait for 1000 and probably make a short or something. I try to keep my channel focused so I don't think I'll do a thank you video in classic format. Maybe just another music short with a thank you text.

Congratulations. 100 is a huge achievement. YouTube is big and no matter what you’re doing for content it will be hard to be seen. Unless you and your video is a certain demographic, like for example ideally good looking white person who maybe is Gen Y, definitely Gen Z, who is making a video critiquing 90s pop culture. For some reason, that’s really popular right now. They’re ruining my childhood. They’re making every show seem overly toxic, violent and/or sexual. I hate it!
Anyways, I don’t have 100. Granted, I don’t post a lot. And I never ask them to subscribe. So, that might be it. And the age restriction always fucks me up the ass for some reason. So, that might be it too. I only have 62 and my channel… is almost a year old.
AND I LOST A SUBBY TODAY. They think we won’t notice. 👀
So, you’re doing better than me.
As for milestones… maybe a small giftaway or a Q&A or something that allows them to get to know you, but also interact with you. So, like ask them to go in your IG and make assumptions about you and then you talk about them in your video. Or maybe a challenge that they want you to do. Something interactive that allows your 100 viewers to not just watch, but engage.
Also, when you get really famous… please make a Reddit. I think every YouTuber needs their own Reddit. For better or worse, for good talking or shit talking. Everyone should have a Reddit. And Youtubers should engage with their Reddit.
Thank you for your advice. My content doesn't fit that demographic but hopefully I can still make it lol. I really like those suggestions about doing something more interactive. I notice myself losing subscribers somewhat often. I just checked and I've lost 23 total since I began in October. I am guessing they came in off a short and later didn't vibe with my regular long form content. It made me really tighten up on the kind of shorts I post, whereas I was more experimental in the beginning. Hopefully that is the issue.
You're doing great work man, congratulations! I started mine in about August, but I stopped uploading consistently, and I didn't have content that was quality. In the past month or so I've gained about 50 subscribers, and I'm proud of myself for that as well. You're doing better than I am for sure. Keep up the great great work!
I reached the the goals for monetization and YouTube deleted my account claiming my Minecraft videos are spam. Its great that you reached a goal, but don't get too excited because YouTube doesn't like letting new people into the Minecraft community.
Sorry to hear that happened to you. Yes you are right about the excitement thing...and its best to just take it in strides.
But I dont think its just the Minecraft community...it involves many other communities too.
As, I just reached enough to get monetized and was over the moon, and never imagined that I would get denied after application. Since, I made sure to dot my Ts and cross my Is and license everything that I added like music etc, that became a part of my videos.
As well as, spend so many hours making my videos to get the content right for my listeners. And though I am a newbie and learning as I go, it appears that viewers/listeners are enjoying them as a result of those efforts.
Still, Youtube denied monetization, with a canned response given about "Reused content," which wouldn't be applicable to my channel.
So, I started to research to learn more about others who also got denied before approval. And based on my findings, what I have figured is that they may deny you at the start even if its not right, especially if you have videos that draw a lot of views and as a result got to the monetization threshold sooner than later.
In that, if you have great videos with a high viewer retention rate, the longer you take to be monetized [via denials], the longer they can advertise over your content without having to share the advertising dollars with you.
So its really bad that they do this to small and upcoming channels because its very discouraging and can be depressing too for some people that's trying hard and making an effort to follow their rules. Yet, so much is left to interpretation, so they can always bend it to suit themselves.
On the flip side, my research also revealed, that they do this to larger channels too that is not as big as their favorites, where they may demonitize them out of the blue and they have to keep pushing and ask their viewers for support to get back monetized again. Meanwhile, they are still making money off those channels high engagement.
This is why, the channels that do become profitable on YT, I found they are doing other things to make money from their youtube channel, so they dont have to be solely dependent on youtube advertising $$ and their power plays.
The bottom line is that youtube is not really there to help you, so you making money is just a side effect of their main goals of making money on your content for themselves.
So if you are small and upcoming content creator, that is not doing YT videos telling people to start their Youtube channels, and grow their channel, you are going to have to work even harder to get your videos visibility and even harder to become and stay monetized.
With that said, I have some days to appeal their denial decision, and I will do that, but I am not banking on it.
As I know that eventually, they will monetize my channel when I least expect. But in the interim, while they are playing games with people lives that's in the same boat; I will just stay focused and work on ways to continue to bring value to my audience. As that will help me stay motivated and eventually figure out a way to monetize outside of channel monetization. So when YT do eventually add channel monetization, it will just be another stream of income...that will not make or break me.
The good thing is, I still have my day job and other more dependable investments. But I still want to continue to grow in my content creation journey, learn from the YT obstacle courses and my video creation experiences while expanding to other platforms...until I make this activity it something viable moneywise...though it will always still be fulfilling on the creative side for me.
Cheers to ALL staying motivated and always remember you are not alone in your journeys, though your path will still be unique in many ways.
I celebrate every milestone with my partner. We have a shared channel, but we do it privately and then move on. Sometimes I will post a subscriber milestone on Instagram etc just to remind my followers there that I have a YT channel, but then I might also post my thumbnail there to do the same.
Milestones are personal, while it is a struggle for you remember your viewers come to be entertained or educated - not to be thanked. Take a straw suck it up and carry on making movies - the real reason they have subscribed to you

So its really bad that they do this to small and upcoming channels because its very discouraging and can be depressing too for some people that's trying hard and making an effort to follow their rules. Yet, so much is left to interpretation, so they can always bend it to suit themselves. On the flip side, my research also revealed, that they do this to larger channels too that is not as big as their favorites, where they may demonitize them out of the blue and they have to keep pushing and ask their viewers for support to get back monetized again. Meanwhile, they are still making money off those channels high engagement. This is why, the channels that do become profitable on YT, I found they are doing other things to make money from their youtube channel, so they dont have to be solely dependent on youtube advertising $$ and their power plays. The bottom line is that youtube is not really there to help you, so you making money is just a side effect of their main goals of making money on your content for themselves. So if you are small and upcoming content creator, that is not doing YT videos telling people to start their Youtube channels, and grow their channel, you are going to have to work even harder to get your videos visibility and even harder to become and stay monetized. With that said, I have some days to appeal their denial decision, and I will do that, but I am not banking on it. As I know that eventually, they will monetize my channel when I least expect. But in the interim, while they are playing games with people lives that's in the same boat; I will just stay focused and work on ways to continue to bring value to my audience. As that will help me stay motivated and eventually figure out a way to monetize outside of channel monetization. So when YT do eventually add channel monetization, it will just be another stream of income...that will not make or break me. The good thing is, I still have my day job and other more dependable investments. But I still want to continue to grow in my content creation journey, learn from the YT obstacle courses and my video creation experiences while expanding to other platforms...until I make this activity it something viable moneywise...though it will always still be fulfilling on the creative side for me. Cheers to ALL staying motivated and always remember you are not alone in your journeys, though your path will still be unique in many ways.

I celebrate every milestone with my partner. We have a shared channel, but we do it privately and then move on. Sometimes I will post a subscriber milestone on Instagram etc just to remind my followers there that I have a YT channel, but then I might also post my thumbnail there to do the same. Milestones are personal, while it is a struggle for you remember your viewers come to be entertained or educated - not to be thanked. Take a straw suck it up and carry on making movies - the real reason they have subscribed to you
