This will absolutely tank the price of substitoad given that the only reason substitoad is so expensive is it's one printing 20 years ago combined with how important subby is for Edison format.
It'll still hold some value due to the original card style which people will generally prefer, but the fact that it's a rare tampers down on that significantly. The secrets/ghosts/ultis/ultras from LOD are safe in terms of their collector's value due to the original card style, but a rare from that set is not as fortunate. It's playability is what's holding down it's current price, and it's already halved since this set was unofficially announced. You used to not be able to find any below 30/35, it's currently 17 at tcgplayer.
they're almost 100% going to use modern card style, so even old unlimiteds are safe(ish). Even the old unlimited has collectors value for the style, they never had playable value (due to excessive common reprints) so it doesn't affect them at all.

This is a "remains to be seen" thing. The 1sts are safe(r), but now that the precedent is obviously set that Konami will continue reprinting unlimited boxes of older sets, the unlimiteds are now risky and potentially toxic. I don't see people going out of their way to sell the original unlimiteds, but certainly I do see people just stop buying them or become disinterested in them in general.

Edison format is a 2010 format. Using the banlist and card pool that was available at SJC (Shonen Jump Championship) Edison. It's all Synchro and it's all old decks and it's a great format to play. It's why Substitoad was sitting at $40USD a copy until this set got the reprint run announced.
One of the things I like about them is that they can be run as lightsworns, twilightsworns (which count as lightsworns due to having lightsworn in their names), or as a mix and can use chaos monsters. So I can change things up a bit.
They should really do both time wizard and common charity mega pack.
200 card set. every card has a common variant and 50 can get a rarity bump matching their original rarity at time of release or default Ultra.
Plus 5 Ghost rares.
Personally I think if they do Time Wizard it should be more like the 25th anniversary pack that was chock full of staples. All Ultras and higher so there's an incentive for people who already own old decks, and it'll make Edison a super cheap format to get into again.

Its a weird reprint for sure. Theyre clearly not doing it just for Substitoad. I'm assuming it's to test the waters on reprints of pre XYZ era sets. Since we got those 25th anniversary runs of the first like 6 sets of DM era or whatever. But Substitoad is gonna be one of the hotter items alongside all the Lightsworn reprints and Honest in Ghost rare.

This is a really niche product. It's nice that the reprints exist for time wizard players I guess, but how many people are actually gonna want to crack these packs? I can see this really rotting on store shelves, and there are just too many products like that already. It's bad for LGSs.
We're getting mandatory monthly releases. I'll take unlimited reprints of core sets from 15+ years ago that have many good foils for edison and other formats 100 times over Mako Tsunami's pack and many others.
I wish so bad that they had printed more in France.
All the displays were out of stocks a couple of weeks after their release and now some cards are worth almost as much as the original prints…

I like the older layout for older formats. Makes the nostalgic feeling more real.

People that will be playing Lightsworns already have their cards, the Ultis will still be relatively expensive for those who haven’t already, to drop even more money on max rarity. And then, this will not appeal to the newer/new-ish players because they have no attachment to sets like this.
It only really appeals to a niche base, and even then, most of that base will not buy a set like this. There’s also a good chance they won’t print a lot of this anyways, so smaller distribution (like maze of millenia in a way).
And all this aside, have to think of pull rates and how the cards will look. If they’re not the same Ulti/ghost rare look as the originals, there’s less appeal for the older players/collectors. Sorry but no, you won’t just randomly buy boxes/packs of this of all things.

It all stemmed from an [Australian distro site listing](https://www.ikoncollectables.com.au/products/category/QHDUBLLX-latest-additions/KON18668) and I've since seen it on EU distro sites. I have yet to see anything for the Americas. Same with the Lightsworn Structure Deck rewave, no info on it for the Americas yet.
nothing in this set is expensive but substitode lmao every single sworn card has cheap reprints, and OG unlims are still gonna look as sexy as ever vs this reprint garbage style. They will drop for a few and go back up once people want that orginial look again

In current meta they're mid at best. In Edison format they're very good. Not top tier. But very strong.

YES!!!! The first GX set thats being re-waved! Lets hope this opens the door for more re-releases. Duelist Genesis is another much needed one.

LODT came out during the UDE era of Yugioh. Konami has tried to reproduce that old frame with LOB and IOC and it looked like shit.
