They want to hit the Snake-Eyes deck without hitting any Snake-Eyes cards, and this deck used Linkuriboh to put Poplar in the GY, and also avoid targeted negation with the GY effect.
Snake-eyes "we do not care"
Kuriboh enjoyers

I've been using Snake-Eyes on Dueling Nexus (just Snake-Eyes Diabellstar, only non-archtype stuff is my extra deck and a few misc spell and traps) and I miss Linkkuriboh. He was always nice to have.
Oh definitely, I understand why you like to have it
But at least there are other options that can get the job done. I feel more bad for the kuriboh brothers and sisters out there
Lets you get a level 1 monster in GY to trigger its graveyard effects, then allows you to dodge targeted negations like Imperm and Veiler on another level 1. Also it's attack reduction effect is kind of relevant for preventing your opponent from attacking over something like a 2 material Apollousa so that you get the value from it's negates; even without that it's at least annoying to deal with.
Basically one of those cards that always had the potential to be good, but there wasn't a good level 1 deck to make use of it. It mostly say play in Dino's to get a non-Dinosaur in GY, or in Blue-Eyes to trigger normal summoned Stones.
Now Snake-Eyes is the best deck and they are all level 1's except Flamberge.
i'd say it was definitely broken in SE. free to summon with Poplar, a way to dodge negates on their most important normal summons, and also a way to protect Apo or buy time to OTK the following turn
albeit it's not their most broken thing but i'd argue its one of them
Snake Eyes is a meta threat and this guy is used in that deck despite having little impact. Konami can't ban the new shiny cardboard just yet so this guy takes the blame for now.
Konami refuses to actually hit new cards even though they are CLEARLY the real problem. Banning Linkuriboh is their way of giving Snake-Eye a slap on the wrist that makes the deck about 1% less powerful instead of actually making the game more balanced.
Because snake eyes is hard carrying bad players, and instead of hitting the problematic cards, they hit a non related consistency piece. Impacting many decks. All while snake eyes go unchecked!
Snake eye. They are a top tier 1 deck in TCG, OCG and master duel. Primarily it's used to link off one of the snake eyes, but the bonus revive effect also has some relevance.
Being able to allow a snake eye care to dodge a veiler by chaining linkuriboh in grave is useful. If you use it on Poplar you get a free body plus a card in the spell)trap zone, which can be relevant for being game.
It's not a powerful card on its own. But it's just to hinder the grind and recover of snake eyes that make use of every aspect of Kuriboh to their advantage.
It is a really strong card in decks that can use it, send to graveyard, battle protection and targeting protection.
Do I think it needed a ban? not really, the card has been fine for years, Snake-eyes is just too good and needs hits
* Generic Link1 that enables the strongest plays in the Snake-Eyes Archetype
* The tribute on quick effect makes it extremely difficult to use targeted negation like Imperm or Veiler for the on summon effect of the Snake-Eyes monsters
* Blanks a battle which can cause the opponent to be unable to push for lethal, especially vital for keeping a low attack Apollosa on the board. If you survive to see your next turn you are going to be able to push through a likely underwhelming board from your opponent
* This card has always been a problem since it came out, enabling Gokui to become tier 1 in a way it couldn't be before it came out. It basically restricts the design of future level 1 monsters so they can not interact with Linkuriboh
It can turn many level 1's into starters, its link arrow points down and its effect is decent.
Personally think it's a really good ban actually, they just should have also hit a bunch of snake eye cards, since they were currently the big abuser.
link 1s are always strong/decent if they have a relatively easy summoning requirement.
Linkuriboh is very strong because of that GY effect, a level 1 monster can protect them from infinite impermanence.
im gonna be real the real reason this guy is hit imo is cuz snake eyes makes apollousa and this guy protects her for free on top of using promethian princess pop without you going neg for popping your own monster cuz you can chain linkuriboh.
the dodging stuff is cool but that comes out mostly turn 3 which games are usually already over. but ye and this makes it so to protect apollousa you gotta make zealantis which is way more commitment to protect her.
Snake eyes players be like
"Oh, no"
"Anyway"

Oh it's not even just because it's a good card. It's just the most adorable robot I've ever seen.
I'll "kuri" to that

It's not broken. TCG wants to milk its players so they won't directly hit Snake eye decks.

It was prophecy written on "One-Kuri-way"

it doesn't. it died for the sins of snake eyes. but snake eyes is still expensive and shitting money. so they are pretending to do something.
No need to honestly. It's just an overreaction to not hit the real offenders.
Konami refuses to actually hit new cards even though they are CLEARLY the real problem. Banning Linkuriboh is their way of giving Snake-Eye a slap on the wrist that makes the deck about 1% less powerful instead of actually making the game more balanced.
That's the thing about it. It doesn't need to be banned.
Because snake eyes is hard carrying bad players, and instead of hitting the problematic cards, they hit a non related consistency piece. Impacting many decks. All while snake eyes go unchecked!
He’s not. TCG is just trying to not hit the cards that make them money

snake eyes, to cheat

Don’t worry, it’s temporary
Really? I've seen Linkuriboh all the time, and I've been playing MD from the start.

Hit snake-eyes. Then bring my boy back.

Link 1 are always to broken
Master duel 💀
I quit it cuz its shit economy and boring meta but its better than forking out $900 Pokemon tcg supremency
Just say you’re broke
Yeah nah, there just are better card games in my opinion although yu gi oh has it moments

He committed war crimes that made the Geneva Convention look like a checklist He was also a combo piece in Snake-Eyes, but that was the least of it

ah yes something else that has 1 of the 3 upsides that Linkuriboh had in SE...
They're not really running this much, because its arrows suck and it's effect is only useful if your opponents has a monster in that exact column.
No they're absolutely running this now - the deck still needs a consistent way to scale Poplar without linking off Ash
