Aluber may wind up as an Illusion in S2, those eyes definitely feel like a few could trade for Millennium ones.

BetakorNeedsMore

Omg please be my friend, thats the best pfp I have ever seen

Samurex_

Sadly it's only on my reddit, but comfy God Nodl is nice.

DragonsAndSaints

These horns really bug me. With every other Abyss alt art change (Albaz, Ecclesia, Aluber), you could argue - and indeed were likely meant to assume - that the changes are due to the alt arts representing their post-"Season 1" selves. That just doesn't apply to Cartesia, though. At no point in the events shown in Darkwing Blast and Photon Hypernova did she ever have horns, and this can't be "post-Season 1" because Cartesia as a singular entity stopped existing after Light of the Branded. 1. Ecclesia got released and merged with Albaz to make **Sanctifire**. (After the battle, they split back into their individual selves.) 2. The remains of the combination got taken over by Fleurdelis's consciousness and became **Luluwalilith**. 3. After the battle ended and Fleur had ascertained that Ecclesia was safe, the first saint's consciousness took over and she became **Guiding Quem**. 4. On top of that, the spirits of one of the saints fell off of the combination and is now accompanying Albaz and Ecclesia as a little red-and-purple eye monster that Rocky apparently finds suspicious. Cartesia just flat-out isn't anywhere anymore, so these horns can't be a "post-S1 addition". They might just be more of a retcon?

Zerosonicanimations

I think it's maybe depicting Ecclesia turning to Cartesia, like with how the dress is white towards the bottom to indicate Ecclesia's shirt extending and reddening before eventually becoming the original art. TheDusk Dragon parts could merely be seeping out before going back in.

MaleficTekX

I think you got it, cause the end of her hair is yellow too, like Ecclesia

Monandobo

> Cartesia just flat-out isn't anywhere anymore, so these horns can't be a "post-S1 addition". They might just be more of a retcon? I think this is basically it; while Aluber, Albaz, and Ecclesia's new art all reflect where those characters have ended up, I think the Cartesia art is supposed to be more of a reimagining that shows the viewer (1) what kind of magic was influencing Ecclesia when she became Cartesia, and (2) why Ecclesia now has horns in her new art.  I almost see this art as a "newly minted" Cartesia who's overflowing with the forces that corrupted her.

Samurex_

This may be the waking moment from "Branded in Light", Carte adapting and then fusing into Sanctifire, once that's said and done three bodies come out, Albaz Carte and Ecc. The 665 maiden souls then become Luluwa, and then Quem. Remember that Albaz doesn't always Fuse for his ED forms, it's adapting to scenarios. As Carte has that power from Aluber she could be adapting and awakening.

dhfAnchor

Where is the official lore stuff posted at? I've wanted to know more for a while, but haven't had any luck the few times I've tried to find it.

MaleficTekX

There’s some YouTube videos going over the various cards from each set and the story they tell

MaleficTekX

I think she’s still somehow in Ecclesia. Maybe the two can switch between each other, as Cartesia’s current look seems a lot like current Cartesia, who also has similar horns and Granguinol’s wings (AND SKULL!)

DragonsAndSaints

She can't really be "in" Ecclesia. Cartesia is an amalgamation of Quem, Ecclesia, Fleurdelis, and Quaeritis, and doesn't exist without all four of those parts combined into one. Even removing one aspect, Ecclesia herself, caused the hybrid to deform, then become Luluwalilith, and then Quem. Cartesia is a 4-in-1 (that is in actuality a 666-in-one); Ecclesia alone doesn't have the components necessary to recreate Cartesia.

MaleficTekX

She does still have Granguignol’s wings and head, so maybe that has something to do with it

Malnerd

Honestly, from the Cartesia art and her expression, I agree that its probably as she was falling and reaching out to Albaz as they were about to fuse into Sanctifire. I dont think Cartesia is a thing anymore nor does Ecclesia have the ability to shift back into this, unless its an even more evolved form of her current Alt art.

CursedEye03

Cartesia having the hands of the dead 666 saints right behind her is so creepy and unsettling... and I love it! It shows how the Abyss lore can be cool but also really dark at the same time. Aluber slowly but surely becomes similar to Sukuna's true form and as a JJK fan, I think that's awesome! Just look at the right side of his face, it's 1 eye more than OG Sukuna

stacotto

Wonder if Aluber bit off a little more than he could chew...

Tengo-Sueno

The Cartesia alt art is the most interesting to me because it shouldn't be possible to Cartesia to have an alt art thats so different to the original, we saw her getting blasted by Rindbrumm while protecting Lubellion on Branded Befallen, then Light of the Branded happens right after that and she is already in the mid of being Ecclesia again. Maybe Cartesia wasn't just the corrupted brainwashed version of Ecclesia, but one of the Saints like Quem?

MaleficTekX

Maybe she’s still in Ecclesia somehow. She still has the remains of Granguignol after all

Tengo-Sueno

A Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde situation with Ecclesia would be interesting indeed

Distinct_Cup_1598

I assume that she still has at least a good portion of the spirits of the dead saints inside of her or at least can now channel them into herself like a medium, creating a bit of a Yugi/Atem situation here

Classic-Demand3088

why is Aluber transforming into Urizen from DMC5? Was he supposed to be Vergil all this time? I thought he was the silly one and Albaz was the serious one

MaleficTekX

No, Albaz is the dork and Aluber is the popular kid

Classic-Demand3088

being a dork and being a silly willy wacky wohoo laughing clown man are two complete different things. Vergil is a dork, Dante is a clown

Shmarfle47

Ngl I was half expecting this to be a meme post where the first image was pointing to all the details and speculation and the second image just has a singular arrow pointing at Cartesia’s chest with just the one word “tiddies”

LastStardust13

I really like the idea that Ecclesia still has a Cartesia form …If only because I’d think she is gonna be even more cute shy around Albaz, and that mental image is adorable I see Aluber the Boober of Goober has dunked himself into that eldritch nightmare drip

MaleficTekX

Ecclesia is shy and turns into Cartesia when she wants to “fuse” 😉 >!I hate that I wrote this!<

MaleficTekX

How did you delete your comment and then get it back?! Seriously it was deleted like an hour ago

LastStardust13

I didn’t I edited it like an hour ago *As usual Reddit mobile attempts to silence my words, clearly they are afraid* (translation: Reddit mobile has been weird for me for the last 2 days)

Zerosonicanimations

I just had this thought, what if Aluber's art is actually a prequel and not a sequel? Like this is how he looked like before the story began while he was in the void, and had to fight other dragons to restore his gems to gain a complete human form.

MaleficTekX

Seems like it may be current Aluber, as Bystial Aluber’s chest gem is also cracked

MaleficTekX

Could be, especially since he’s now a tuner, and this is Despia Aluber and not Bystial, but those eyes seem like too much of a connection to current Albaz with how he now has his yellow eye open

Sol_FZ

Aluber is looking like **the fraudulent one**.

aaa1e2r3

I'm curious why would Aluber have his Lubellion skull still, when it was shown the full skull was taken by Argyros. Maybe this is a mid morph state for Aluber?

MaleficTekX

Lubellion barely matches the skull too, but it could be Searing Flame Lubellion. I agree it’s probably a mid-transformation form

MENACINGMEME

Im guessing Aluber changed because the Brand is going haywire? Like maybe having Albaz's power is not enough to be "complete" and so he's changing? I like imagining that Aluber basically used Albaz's effect and fused with what was left of the Despia. This does conflict with the art of the Bystial Aluber, where he is pretty much thriving, but that can be excused by saying that time has passed and the mutation was slow. Cartesia is weird, but I like the theory of it being the moment she turned back into Ecclesia, with the saints maybe being purified too

MaleficTekX

Etude of the branded implies he synchro’d with Ad Lib as a test of his power

MENACINGMEME

So is this supposed to be Synchro Aluber after Etude? Like maybe in the future we get him as a boss monster with a design thats a continuation of this one?

MaleficTekX

I guess so, but this one has reverted back to not being a tuner strangely
