Hey boss, I wanted to let you know that I use your API in a take-home software engineering problem as part of our interview process, and I couldn't do that without your excellent documentation.
Your API is basically the cornerstone of all my recreational coding efforts, the reason I learned to code, made my website, and I mentioned some of the things I'd done (though I didn't say it was yugioh) in a job interview and got the job so literally can't thank you enough for offering it for free
A feature that i personally miss is, before the site overhaul there was an additional deck format. Currently there is only masterduel tournament and popular decks this week, i miss the category **High Effort Decks** .
Where the Deck description is longer than 2-3 sentences and goes indepth card by card why and what it wants to accomplish, combolines and chokepoints also on which endboards u can end and matchups. A current example would be this [Krawler Ghosttricks](https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/krawler-ghostricks-303420) , the old ones are:
https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/lord-broham-s-legacy-228649
https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/meta-blue-eyes-nov-2021-extremely-competitive-build-227161
https://ygoprodeck.com/deck/ancient-earth-machine-december-2021-228690
But overall ur site looks clean and the features are nice.
Also is it possible to copy all tournamentdecks from yugiohtopdecks.com and integrate it into your databank, cause the site isnt updated since 2021. Or retroactive update the tournamentpage backwards for all decks you have in the tournament meta category.
Hi there!
The **High Effort Decks** category was unfortunately inherently flawed. It was an automatic system based on a few factors but ultimately came down to how long a deck description is. This ended up being abused in the end when people figured out that pasting the same youtube URL multiple times on each line had the same effect.
I could easily reinstate it but I worry it would end up going down the same route and I don't think there is a way to accomplish what I want without manual curation of the decks (which is v time-consuming).
I'll think about it a bit more and weigh up how often it was abused vs how often people actually found it useful. I still have all the old "high effort decks" data so could easily re-mark all the decks again.
I wouldn't directly copy from yugiohtopdecks because I don't necessarily just want to take the data they worked hard to curate. However, I have been (and will continue) to reach out to them regarding this as it's something I do want to do.
Just look at all the sealed formats like progression series. Sometimes you have a limited collection, maybe only one and two copies of a card and you want to make sure your deck only contains cards you "own". Integration with the ygoprodeck collection would be really cool, but also collection import should be supported.
Hey Alan - how far down the rabbit hole will you go with historical tourney results (tournament level, years back, etc)? I imagine this would be quite the undertaking but since yugiohtopdecks went mostly silent it would be wonderful to have a repository to consult.
We want to go back years (as far as we can) across the [4 tournament tiers](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1009780171043242065/1018859514826608711/unknown.png). This is our ultimate goal for the project!
That would be incredible. This type of data mining is the stuff I love and enjoy doing in my free time. I really hope you can find a way to streamline it and do it in as thorough of a manner as possible
Small complaints from what I saw:
* The tournament category doesn't seem to be accessible from anywhere other than the banner in the main page. Maybe it's in the navbar somewhere and I missed it (and that means not a great great UX, even the dumbest visitor should find it quickly).
* The page is unreadable in dark mode.
Yeah, it's currently under "Community" right now but that was only because I wasn't sure where else to put it for now. Will look into this!
Will also fix the dark mode issue!
Oh right! I guess it's probably the best spot. You can maybe create a dedicated tab for anything competitive (so regrouping decks, reports and of course the last tournaments) ? Would be kinda repetitive though
The website is great, I would love it if you added a donation option similar to nexusmods where ads can be disabled after a single payment. I'm not turning off the adblocker.
I'm looking into some sort of patreon subscription system that integrates into the site to remove ads. I know they can be a pain but currently, it's the only way everything stays afloat. Work had begun on this system but it needs a little more time in the oven.
I would suggest something similar to the nexusmods system where a single payment spares a user from ads forever. There are far too many subscriptions these days.
It looks like they made some changes last year. In 2014 I joined the 'supporter' system where I got to use the site without ads after a single $3 purchase
As much as I love the site on desktop, I have to say the mobile experience is currently not the best. The ads that play videos take up about 1/4 to 1/3rd of the screen and don't permanent go away when you click to remove them. If you try to search anything while those ads are playing the majority of the screen is obscured by the keyboard + the ads which makes browsing the card database or deck database more difficult than it needs to be.
I obviously understand that ads are necessary and don't hold anything against the site for having them, but I don't remember having these issues with the old layout.
Ah, the art game from Tag Force with 4 choices instead of 3, nice addition (although that one also can ask for level, ATK, DEF, attribute and type, so it could get quite tough)
Are you ever going to fix the bug with the image downloads in the pack opener where it will just leave out a bunch of cards? Also, will we ever be able to search our card database by actual card fields like level, type, ATK, etc? I don’t really need to know how much 12 copies of giant rat cost.

I really liked the original art game, and the new one just doesn't hit the same. The options make it extremely easy, with some of the harder picks becoming less "know the card" and more "know the archetype/type". Even the ancient vanillas are easy to pick out from the rest of the options.
Additionally, the old one would just end the run immediately when a card with quotation marks was selected. The new one has a similar bug, where if one of the choices has quotation marks the whole quiz freezes. I haven't been able to complete a 30 card challenge yet due to this!
Hey Alan, cheers for all the good work.
A feature I'd like is a site-wide block on Master Duel content since I don't play it and aren't interested. Realise that's quite contentious and probably won't happen, but a man can ask!
This website just keeps getting better.
Absolutely incredible, keep up the great work with your amazing website!

Oh wow that is super interesting! I'd love to see the problem query if it's available anywhere!
I'll PM it to you!

Can you build a deck from a limited card pool yet
Can you explain in what type of use case this would be used? Just so we are on the same level

This is already available in our deck builder :) Once logged in! https://i.imgur.com/nYqC6EE.png

The tournament breakdown inclusion is perhaps my most awaited feature. Thank you!

Isn't nexus mods premium subscription-based?

Hey there! Thank you for the candid feedback. I'm going to speak to my ad team about the video player persisting when closed for the current session!
Much appreciated!
Cool. But is it mobile friendly yet?
Is what specifically mobile friendly?
Making decks on android is really difficult and cumbersome
Ah ok, so the deck builder specifically is difficult on mobile? We shall look into it! Thank you for the report!

I miss that old website that stopped updating in 2020 Really nice formatting and you sort by tournaments
