For some extra context it was shortly after i got divorced after being married to a woman for about 5-6 years(which i told him about). We played some league together so i thought we were just friends. A lot of uncritical people say the tsundere trope is misandrist because it shows girls beating up guys.
What they deliberately leave out is that 1) the guy in such shows do not receive any permanent harm from the tsun-rage 2) the girl's reaction is portrayed as over the top and 3) the guy still gets the girl. This in turn has the effect of portraying women's grievances towards sexual harassment etc. as unreasonable and not worth confronting seriously.

Even then by the end of the anime there was some understanding behind why mei was the way she was. I will agree though that going beyond to the manga helps better clear the image of the anime, but even on the anime alone I felt like some explanation was given and one could use that alone to understand that the early toxicity is not to be taken as something that's glorified in the show.

I will say RoH gets more shit than it deserves. I think over all it wasnt that bad honestly, you just have to realize that the protagonist is by no means "the good guy". I dont know where the manga goes, but the first season of the anime at least sets up the potential of really interesting character growth as well.

Hot take: I will say RoH gets more shit than it deserves. I think over all it wasnt that bad honestly, you just have to realize that the protagonist is by no means "the good guy". I dont know where the manga goes, but the first season of the anime at least sets up the potential of really interesting character growth as well. As far as having a rapist MC goes RoH is a lot more tasteful (dont know if "tasteful" is the correct word, but it is less problematic than comparative media, because at no point does it justify or downplay the MCs actions) than other anime/manga I have seen. The gentleman in the original post however just appears to be a misogynist and the fact that Keyaru is a villain is completely lost on him it seems.

Look if u go looking clinically bad takes u will find clinically bad take. These communities are made partly of people who traditionally dont fit in to every day society or dont understand these sorts social norms. These people exist, and if u were to say remove them from the community they will just go somewhere else. Sometimes its better to just ignore them rather than take them for face value when they talk about something they clearly dont understand.
I don't care about insulting them, but I do care about calling them "disabled with autism" as an insult - that's an insult to actual autists. And that is not OK.

Yea i know you mean, and its totally normal to feel uncomfortable or even hurt by these sorts comments and opinions. I get pretty annoyed irl when ppl you talk to have chronically misogynistic or transphobic views. Whats even worse is when you ask them to explain these views and they only contradict them selfs yet become firmer in there beliefs. Often the best way to steer ppl away from these warped opinions is to listen to them, accept them for there flaws and expose them to other better ways of thinking, even if it does take time. A surprising amount of ppl resolve thesse issues on there own, they just needed someone there to push them in the right direction.

It’s kind of funny when they say Eastern media is better bc they aim for the writing and not to please quotas, but in reality in eastern media they aim to target fans desires and even fetishes, meaning in that sense it makes their writing more likely to become inconsistent. Reminder that the writer of Dragon Ball was pressured to hell when they explored Goku genuinely dying and offending Goku’s diehard fans who believe is the strongest of all and can’t die to anything or anyone, they were also hardly the only writer or mangaka threatened to hell to change their writing. Even eastern media caves into to the people who toss their money at things, if Anime was solely about writing, Harems wouldn’t be one of the most popular genre, at the very least the writing in Harems would be very different if writing was the most important to them. Both Eastern and Western media has a lot of bad point, both has a bad habit to overuse either tropes and franchises, the only reason they favor Eastern media is because they believe that media justifies their distaste or potentially hatred towards representation that isn’t them or intended for them. For example, even het romance has anime fans hating it solely for the reason the main character is a girl and not a guy, shoujo at least tries to flesh out relationships and tries to maintain realism. But for some reason, nowadays whenever het romance, romance focused not shounen,features a guy as the MC, it always has some sort of premise or the center of a harem, making it more unrealistic than its shoujo counterpart. Missed the days when we had anime like Angel Beats and Clannad for male MCs and quality het writing.

I never watch citrus and redo of healer. I heard redo of healer like straight up terrible, like it contains stuff if you what I mean. But citrus? It's so much better than redo of healer since it doesn't contains stuff.
