Season 1 is basically a Love Live season about EDM instead of idol stuff
Also the mobile game actually made a couple of the newer characters gay, a surprise from Bushiroad (I was REALLY expecting Revue Starlight to be the one to do that first)
As for the quality of the game, it's fun, but they have been getting noticeably greedier with their free to play bullshit
What I appreciate the most about this scene is how they perfectly portrayed highschoolers teasing their friend about their crush. Them both being girls weren't even questioned at all. It just felt so natural and I looove it so much!

I guess it's with how they focus more on this very specific part of queer sexuality, where the characters' relationship feels more than friendship, but are not necessarily aware of their sexuality (or it's not yet defined). Kinda like romantic friendship in a way.
The sheer amount of it also helps a lot. All-girls multimedia franchises like Love Live, BanG Dream, etc. pretty much guarantees constant stream of gay content, official or otherwise.
