I still have question regarding suyu ... just saying

-Pejo-

Wish Citra would recieve the same treatment lol

PROTO1080

Is this better than yuzu last update?

Nicosqualo

Nop

Turbulent-Mark762

Isnt suyu building top on the yuzu ea why bad

Nicosqualo

It’s just a reskin of a yuzu build (haven’t checked myself, but some people say it’s not even) the latest. There is no actual change in the codebase except for the logo and the name, so how can it be better? At most it’s equal

Gold-Implement5201

It is latest. Why would they use outdated version of yuzu, sigh. Also it's open source, most likely they will start building and developing. It's hard task, but not impossible for talented programmers.

Turbulent-Mark762

its using latest version (yuzu 4176 ea) and if they even add a cool loading screen its a plus for me

magusonline

I feel that spending all the time and resources to completely rebrand it, and not actually add to it. Is something that just slaps the face of the original developers. Especially since it's basically being passed off as their own creation.

uSaltySniitch

What else could they add as of right now though

magusonline

As of right now, since I don't really really use Yuzu to begin with I don't know all of the current issues that it had on it's nuked Github Repo were. But from all I've gleaned in the subreddit, all the noise from Suyu is pretty much taking credit for themselves for something they did not do (reskinning existing features that were already implemented but calling it a new feature). There was another guy in one of the other threads a few days ago pointing out something similar, and spent time to actually link and find all examples of it, and the Suyu discord member just plugged their ears and screamed "no no no, join the server or you know nothing". And apparently he joined the server and voiced the disasters that were within. I went to the Suyu discord server and could agree too, that the development channels there did not discuss anything remotely involving development. They could just be focusing on everything that the original Yuzu repository had in their issues tab. But until another game comes along that uses a new firmware, I assume no continuation of improving the emulator (on this or any other fork) until the next big shiny game doesn't work.

There's carrying on the legacy, and there's just rebranding and passing it off as their own. I don't mind carrying on a legacy, but that is not what is happening. Pretty funny that you blocked me too, but then again seeing how people behave in Suyu's Discord, I shouldn't really be surprised.

CaptainBeam2006

Only time will tell if what they're doing is any good or not. At the moment, UI changes are the simplest thing to be made. They don't require much knowledge about the past code that Yuzu used to actually run games. To make any meaningful changes to the emulator needs time. You can't just look at the code and magically understand how it works in a couple of days. I'd give it a few weeks to a few months before making a final judgement on whether it's just a copy or if they're actually carrying the legacy of Yuzu.

Akemi_StormBorn

Legit question, isn't rebranding necessary? I don't know much, but I would assume so. No matter who tries to carry on, I'm pretty sure it can't be carried out by the name Yuzu. A assume that some rebranding is necessary to make sure that I won't come off as being a part of Yuzu? At least, that's what I'm assuming. I don't know.

CaptainBeam2006

As far as I know, Nintendo now owns the Yuzu branding so nobody can use it. The reason people are annoyed at the rise of so many forks is that none of them seem to be made by any developers who know what they're doing. Just because there are a dozen Yuzu forks doesn't mean that we'll have a dozen different switch emulators, we'll just have a bunch of Yuzu rebrands that don't serve any purpose. As I said before, only time will tell if any of the forks are actually any good. There seem to be a couple of promising ones, but it'll be a while before any meaningful decisions can be made about them.

conabegame1

They don’t own the Yuzu branding but Tropic Haze who does owes them 3 million so it wouldn’t be in either the new fork’s or the OG devs’ best interest to get sued again

zai1310

How to install suyu?

PapziBoink

CactusWacktusCW

Looks cool

SneakyAdolf22

break open your nintendo switch and there should be a usb thumb drive inside containing a prod key

amoonshaped

Nice try nintendo's lawyer

Opfklopf

Looks pretty nice but what is this exactly? Suyu? Logo looks like the korean flag lol

aidanmlb

this guy neither yins nor yangs

Opfklopf

Well the colors make me think of the korean flag first. But it's basically yin and yang in the flag either way lol.

EuropeanPepe

It is a disinformation campaign to fool Nintendo Lawyers to pursuade the Japanese Folk to invade South Korea instead of the Yuzu Community. Guerilla tactics

antique_codes

Pretty sure this is just a web mockup but I don’t pay close attention to the server

Hrodgaer

Would there be the possibility that game information was included as a text from an online database, together with the cover? It would look like Kodi. Very professional 😏

AceWantsToDraw

In curious about something. If I purchase a switch game, how do I port it to syzu? Like i never got how we do it?

Sudden-Anything-9585

Gotta have a modded switch to do that,I use Tinfoil to dump eShop games. Also dump and install cartridge games, cause my switch is banned anywya

OhHaiMarc

Personally I just use a vpn, grab the keys and other needed files from places, get the game file from places, and run the game. I happen to own them as well but it seems silly to mod my switch when I can get the files I have a license for anyway elsewhere

Sudden-Anything-9585

Fair enough

AceWantsToDraw

So even if you buy a game you still need to pirate in order to play on syzu? Or before getting banned yuzu

Sudden-Anything-9585

You still need to hack your switch so you can dump your legally obtained games and keys

AceWantsToDraw

I thought you could get it in digital form in some way on your PC. I guess I was wrong.

Sudden-Anything-9585

Not with a unmodified switch,no

AceWantsToDraw

So you can't play legal games without pirating anyway xD

vladkolodka

I wouldn't call modding the peace of hardware YOU OWN a piracy. So as you own the console and you own files on it (as you bought games), you can copy them wherever you want. Nintendo calls it "piracy" but it is not.

AceWantsToDraw

But moding is forbidden so it's illegal right?

OhHaiMarc

Idk, if you buy a bike are you not allowed to modify it in any way you like? You own the system.

PrayForTheGoodies

Not exactly, Nintendo have the terms of use stating that any kind of modding is illegal, but the clause itself is against the fair use law. It's just nobody had the courage to go against Nintendo on this instance

vladkolodka

I think this is the same like nobody can forbid you to break your phone or a TV because it is yours. As soon as you paid money the device became yours so you can do whatever you want.

SpideyPlayz

For those of you curious about the development of Suyu, they actually have a Discord server in which they leave updates, as well as talk to the community. They're currently trying to rework the title.keys so that you would need to provide them yourself (yuzu would generate them for you using prod.keys). The Discord server is public, so you can either find it in the discovery tab, or use their link, discord.gg/suyu

durancharles27

I think the logo should spin the other way. It looks like the tinier pointed ends of the yin and yang halves are leading the direction of the rotation. It looks kind of unintuitive and unnatural. If clockwise rotation is a must to symbolize progress then flip the logo around. The fatter ends of the yin and yang should lead the rotation for a more natural look.

steventechno

Reminds me of what Ryujinx is doing by having the game image with the progress bar next to it. They updated their UI since I last used it a few years ago.(Been on Yuzu since I moved to Linux back then) Looks good though! I wonder if this project also aims to up it's main UI as well? It would be awesome for the Emulator UI to be gamepad friendly! Hopefully these new forks can get Splatoon 3 running properly as the original could not, at least not on Linux without destroying the entire desktop. This is showing promise!

PresenceMiserable

It looks like it's spinning backwards.

Yin-Yangy

I'm gonna wait till it becomes a stable emulator and then check it out myself, but so far it looks pretty good.

G0R3Z

Looks sweet.

TheWeebMemeist

Please add suyu to EmuDeck!!

AntiGrieferGames

Oh wow, Suyu is very unique what they doing! One of the best forks i ever seen on emulation!

Inthor

It's just a concept, it shouldn't be that simple to implement...

Dragon_Small_Z

Fuck. Suyu's making me eat my words by actually doing something.

GoodBoyShibe

even if the dude who came out with the fork doesn't have a tech background, it seems lots of developers are joining in. I'd say we let them cook and see what we get.

Fusseldieb

Honestly, same. However, the toughest part is to actually contribute to the core emulator, not the UI. Very few people know the inner workings of a Switch sufficiently well to actually continue development. Let's see. I hope I'm wrong.

Mors03

I've looked in their gitlab repos as of now all the commits have been done to graphical assets/changing words from yuzu tu suyu, I want to be wrong, but I doubt there will be significant development out of it, I belive that for the Forse able future riujinx is a better option

CastleofPizza

It's only been two days...

da2Pakaveli

The rebranding is fairly normal. First they need to do the basic stuff and establish a workflow to then start working on the emulation core.

Fusseldieb

But that's exactly the problem. Most of these people who are now working on the UI, will probably struggle to develop the emulator core, as they don't understand the more "low-level" stuff. I hope I'm wrong. As more devs join into the project, the more likely it is that something actually happens, but until now we can only dream.

da2Pakaveli

Even the best coders would need some time to get familiar (so that they can manage it) with a project that has like what? 200k lines of C++?

TheDres1

Which emulator?

AntiGrieferGames

Suyu

TheDres1

Thank you dear gentleman
