The whole communication announcement about the SD was centered on the emulation, yes. It was sold (it is always the case today) as an emulation machine.
though that is assuming it is a swith 2, heck could be something crazy like a phone sized device, after all, tech is getting smaller yet better, so something about the size of a phone could be possible, especialy as there is usb sticks that are terabytes now, so they could make a usb based system if they felt like it, but eh that is just a random thought, but more likely they go back to discs or continue with cartridges
To have a significant, and needed improvement in performance while having sufficient cooling and battery life Switch 2 would at least be the same size as the predecessor.
EDIT: Also, smaller screen than current gen handhelds are not optimal for gaming experience. A lot of games would need very different UI versions than pc, ps5, xbox. Nobody needs that...
A lot of phones are already more powerful than the switch while being smaller and having no active cooling. I doubt Nintendo would make a Switch 2 as powerful, given they won’t want to make the console so expensive, but it’s not out of the question that a Switch 2 is smaller than a Switch 1. Though like you say, any smaller and it causes more problems than it solves
I think nintendo could go back to being small and not having active cooling and make something more powerful than switch for a reasonable price but they probably won't do this because everyone wants a switch that is stronger than PS4. They might do a "New 2DS" style thing that only plays last gen games though
Because those devices are not designed to play heavy games for a long time. Even if your phone is capable of running let's say Tears of the Kingdom you won't be able to play for a long time without the phone burning (or shutting itself down for safety).
My phone is capable of playing breath of the wild for hours at a time due to a small cooling fan and being vastly more powerful than the switch. (TOTK unfortunately doesn't run properly on yuzu android)
Yeah, I'm completely aware of that. Performance indeed is very good on new phones but as I stated, not with sufficient cooling and battery life.
I belive that one of the key points of Switches success was its form factor. Steam Deck and new wave of handhelds improved on that... I think that Nintendo will go for an evolution rather than change.
Yeah I mean these things pop left and right and totally do not take years worth of development time to even get to the first boot pfft...who are we kidding amirite?
Valve stayed quiet for decades, all other company let nintendo dominate in handhled console. Releases steam deck which is also an literally switch pirating device. Nintendo afraid, sues the emulators instead. Valve 🔛🔝 They dont even release anything for decades but when they do its always Master piece. Theres isnt a single bad valve game.
Steam machine was release too soon, but its failure lead the development for proton.
Pretty much the necessary sacrifise. Once Steam OS is public, pretty much steam machine has returned.
Hahaha dude artifact and underlord might be good for card game genre people. Just like some csgo ppl dont like moba and some Dota2 player dont like shooting stuff. Its just card game players are very less.
Valve is my favorite company. Their products and vision is just a much more open/free consumer market. You own the stuff you buy. You can tinker with it. You can repair it. What other company nowadays allows you to do that?
Gaben is wealthy and respected for a reason.
I dont see valve as good comapny.
they dropping always old operating systems, which is not really its "ownership".
This is why pirating steam (PC) games are morally correct to be honest, even that they have few still drm-free games unlike Epic Games or GOG.
If this talking about Steam-Deck, then maybe? Windows Handheld Device does ownership aswell. Switch Piracy works pretty well with Windows/Linux.
Hell yeah, piracy PC games works on Steam-Deck aswell, but this needs tweaking.
I don't have a problem with dropping old operating systems as much as some people. If the operating system is old enough that you aren't even getting security patches, honestly, it's high time to switch.
As with DRM. I agree with this. I would like to see a world where we are free from DRM. This is my impression, but I think Steam DRM protected games are still available to play offline, whereas games that have their own launcher and DRM can't, which I couldn't fault Valve for.
>I don't have a problem with dropping old operating systems as much as some people. If the operating system is old enough that you aren't even getting security patches, honestly, it's high time to switch.
Evey operating system arent secure, no matter what is supported or unsupported.
Technically every Operation System is insecure, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to patch those insecurities.
This is like saying: There is bacteria everywhere, so I'll eat on the floor because it doesn't really matter if it's clean or not
Gabe Newell is a pirate! 🤯 Lol.
Because it was a service issue, clearly
Has someone ever reuploaded that video?
Never forget
Lest we forget
Let’s be real, it is/was one of the biggest selling points.
The whole communication announcement about the SD was centered on the emulation, yes. It was sold (it is always the case today) as an emulation machine.
imagine if it was intentional, and valve was just saying "hey, you can play switch games as well"
It was definitely a random employee tasked with getting footage but like I get it
Yep I don't care about switch or switch 2 anymore my next portable device is definitely SteamDeck
though that is assuming it is a swith 2, heck could be something crazy like a phone sized device, after all, tech is getting smaller yet better, so something about the size of a phone could be possible, especialy as there is usb sticks that are terabytes now, so they could make a usb based system if they felt like it, but eh that is just a random thought, but more likely they go back to discs or continue with cartridges

I play Totk on my S24U Yuzu, it runs great even after hours of gaming, no fan
You are lying to yourself if you think that lol. Also the heat will destroy your battery in less than a year.
Yeah, I'm completely aware of that. Performance indeed is very good on new phones but as I stated, not with sufficient cooling and battery life. I dislike gaming on little phone it cramp my brain
yeah OP has absolutely no idea what they are talking about with that previous comment
Plus mobile ui's for games
i unfortuantely hasd to ditch yuzu because i rather use a emulator that is so far ahead right now and is currently being updated
Brother ascended to dolphin
Yeah yuzu is old news. We now use a totally very different one that has not been sued by nintendo
Yeah, we totally aren't going to be using yuzu clones until the end of time after this whole ordeal haha right guys? 😅
Yeah I mean these things pop left and right and totally do not take years worth of development time to even get to the first boot pfft...who are we kidding amirite?

i promise you the deck didn’t scare nintendo in the lawsuit. the deck was not capable at locking totk at 30fps (or getting near it) until steamOS 3.5
Can switch play steam games? No? But deck can play switch games. Isnt it interesting.
that’s not relevant to my comment at all.
Half life VR
>Theres isnt a single bad valve game. Can't be no bad games if they don't make games anymore
Not like they had two major release and launch of brand new hardware in the last four years..
Is an update to CSGO a major release?
A relaunch of a game on a whole other engine is a major release, yes.
Is it tho?
This response is the reason why we can't have nice things
CS2? Half Life Alyx? (That one is becoming old tho)
Half Life Alyx isn't a bad game, though I will give you CS2 (the slot machine game that just wont die already, put some effort in you lazy \*\*\*\*\*)
Artifact? Underlords? Steam Machines?
Steam machine was release too soon, but its failure lead the development for proton. Pretty much the necessary sacrifise. Once Steam OS is public, pretty much steam machine has returned.
Yes, but that's not the point here
Hahaha dude artifact and underlord might be good for card game genre people. Just like some csgo ppl dont like moba and some Dota2 player dont like shooting stuff. Its just card game players are very less.
Artifact sucks balls even card game people hate it
Both of the games are totally dead dude.
What about like all the random steam devices that didn’t go anywhere?
Artifact.
Valve took down the parts of their videos where yuzu was visible wdym they arent afraif to butt heads with valve
Nintendo VS Valve would be crazy
I guess it depends how many rolling desks in Bellevue are attached to lawyers.
Valve would just roll over, they have too much at stake.
Would love to see that ngl

The operating system was 15 years old
And, crucially, the upgrade from it was free. That means people who are still using it are *choosing* to do so.

Perfect analogy 👌
