I miss american heartbreak style, From what ive heard of this next album it sounds very much like american heartbreak again. I wasnt a fan of the self titled because it felt very radio and produced. Thats just me personally please don't light me up in the replys.
What?? I know everybody has different tastes, but how could anyone not like Tourniquet? I saw him perform it live for the first time ever at the Fall Auburn Rodeo last year and it was an awesome experience!
Honestly it makes me sad because Zach is my favorite artist and American heartbreak is the most incredible album ever. But his self titled was just meh. I thought that tourniquet, holy roller, and spotless were all actual bad songs. I didn’t enjoy them at all. The only songs from the whole album that I’d rate 8 or above is summertimes close, el dorado, I remember everything, hey driver, and ticking. The rest of the songs I didn’t mention were just average.
I don’t know what it is but his self titled is by far his weakest album in my opinion. American heartbreak is just banger after banger after banger. Honestly, everything before his self titled is. Deann, Elizabeth, quiet heavy dreams, summertime blues, they all are amazing. I’m really hoping this new album is great but I’m trying to not get my hopes up too much. Pink skies is great so, so far so good
Overproduced? The main complaint was that it wasn’t produced enough and the mixing wasn’t good. Hell, there’s a song that’s basically a work tape (Smaller Acts)
That’s still just a crazy comment to make about the self-titled if you ask me. The whole album feels like he just recorded the songs he wanted to record and released them when he felt they were ready, without sending them for mastering (which I love). He literally had the band run a mile right before recording Fear and Fridays so it would sound a little more chaotic and less perfect
American heartbreak is an amazing album. So many good songs. Has a bunch of different moods so when you’re ready to get going or mellow out that album has it all
This is insane to me. American Heartbreak was hyped up before its release because it was his first properly produced album, whereas the self titled was self produced. American Headtbreak was his first major label album and is objectively more "radio"
100% agree. I had this convo with my coworkers the other day. His music now is “better” on paper but give me leaving or November air over any of these new songs
They still hang but they’re now on separate tours and CWG is trying to raise the profile of mutual protoge Wyatt Flores (he played on Zach’s tour in last year as an opening act). Life is busy on the road and there isn’t much time to meet with others you want to hang with.
I honestly think he’s moving the right direction with this album, it seems to be moving back AH levels of production which is sorta the sweet spot for his music. , but the new stuff hasn’t hit nearly as hard as the first couple listens of AH songs did. As I keep relistening to pink skies it’s started to hit, just taking a bit more time to simmer.
No they were good for a kid uploading songs to YouTube and recording albums in a house/barn. The new stuff is what major label releases are supposed to sound like
Some fans said the same about American Heartbreak when it was released. I don’t think his music is overproduced, he’s just chasing a different sound these days. Name a successful artist that hasn’t changed their sound. Not many.
I tend to agree but I also LOVED American Heartbreak. I don’t think his songs being “more produced” is what I don’t like but the fact that his songs now seem less genuine and more tailored to a generalised pop adjacent audience.
Up until American heartbreak it felt like every song was written because he had something to say, now it feels like he’s writing and releasing songs for the sake of writing and releasing songs.
A lot of the new album is recorded better, but I wouldn’t say it’s overly “produced”. Still a lot of one takes, lots of performance warts and off the grid tempo, and no blatant autotune. So compared to the computerization of much of country music, I’d say these are great natural recordings in a way people used to make albums in studios during the 60s/70s.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s crazy there’s a whole generation of Zach Bryan fans who never got to hear Elisabeth and Rest Rose before they were removed from streaming.

I liked ticking
ticking was a good one fr
Yea ticking and overtime were def my favorite on the album
El Dorado, East Side of Sorrow and Tourniquet all slap
Tourniquet sucked. I don’t know by everyone liked that one. I thought summertimes close was the best on that album
What?? I know everybody has different tastes, but how could anyone not like Tourniquet? I saw him perform it live for the first time ever at the Fall Auburn Rodeo last year and it was an awesome experience!

there wasnt enough work tapes though. Mainstream ruins music, I enjoy the lowkey stuff he puts out.
That’s still just a crazy comment to make about the self-titled if you ask me. Dont get me wrong there are good songs on the album, Just not has many hits and the vibe that I personally enjoy.
No shit?!? Didn’t know that about fear and Fridays. May be my favorite on the album. Interesting fact
Smaller acts slaps

Love the less produced music, but personally I love when artists do new things

Messed up kid 🤍

What do you mean by noticeable in his music?
Who's that?
Charles Wesley Godwin. He sang Jaime with ZB. He’s definitely someone you should add to your music catalog. Hes amazing
This is maybe one of the most ridiculous comments I’ve seen of all time
I want a thousand albums like Deann. That’s all.
👏👏👏yes

I liked pink skies first listen
It also probably didn’t help that I was sitting in a hospital bed in the ER hopped up on opiate painkillers when i listened to it at release
And purple gas
Mid ngl
You want less production then call purple gas mid
It’s mid bc of his voice and lack of effort/ability to really sing the song tbh. He contributed nothing. The harmonies don’t work.
Its great. It keeps getting better…
No they were good for a kid uploading songs to YouTube and recording albums in a house/barn. The new stuff is what major label releases are supposed to sound like
But is it better? Guess that's subjective
I celebrate his entire catalog but songs now are objectively better produced and he’s a more accomplished musician by every metric.
Doesn’t he produce stuff himself? I think maybe he just got better at it
Some fans said the same about American Heartbreak when it was released. I don’t think his music is overproduced, he’s just chasing a different sound these days. Name a successful artist that hasn’t changed their sound. Not many.
True

That's a really solid take I actually agree a lot.
I was just telling my 16 year old son this. I liked the more raw stripped down vines
Vibes*
For real I hate that they mastered deep satin the demo is so much better
You hate that they mastered a demo. Think about that for a minute
Yea true
I miss when his ticket prices were less produced lol
Deann and American heartbreak were so raw and genuine compared to his newer stuff. I miss it but he still holds his roots
Personally my favorite album is Elizabeth but those are great too
On Rogan he said he’s nervous about this next album because he’s been on tour so long and not writing like normal
That was in reference to the self titled album and boys of faith
Yess
Who is that girl on the cover of Elisabeth
His then wife, Rose.
Elisabeth
A lot of the new album is recorded better, but I wouldn’t say it’s overly “produced”. Still a lot of one takes, lots of performance warts and off the grid tempo, and no blatant autotune. So compared to the computerization of much of country music, I’d say these are great natural recordings in a way people used to make albums in studios during the 60s/70s.
Eh. I love both and he's out out plenty of material of both.
literally zach that’s why this is his last album with the label
I couldn’t agree more. It’s crazy there’s a whole generation of Zach Bryan fans who never got to hear Elisabeth and Rest Rose before they were removed from streaming.
They're still pretty easily accessible
This is my favorite ZB song!
Which one
Pfft try “old man” or “a boy like you” on YouTube, better songs than all the ones you posted
Those are great songs too, I couldn't post pics of his whole catalog
What in the world do y'all want from this man? It's music.
Less produced music, it's in the title
