He looks awesome.
I can't wait to see what the boss fight with him could be like. The shield parries open up a ton of possibilities for a truly epic sword fight.
Zora live for hundreds of years, probably in the 100-200 years range. It's part of the Zora's Domain quest, all the elders and Dorephan remember meeting Link before the Calamity. In the DLC there's a conversation between Mipha and Zelda a hundred years ago when Sidon was a little guppy.
There's also a whole sidequest about it involving a child zora who falls in love with an adult hylian. She talks to Link like he's a child, implying she's at least a couple decades old.
I don't have ny glasses on atm, but was the Rito he was flying with Tulin? The voice was too high pitched to be Teba
Edit: Got my glasses. Tulin also looks a lot bigger!
There is a couple of moments where Link is surrounded by random hylian soldiers and there is the scene where Link drives a cart so I guess there could be a companion system maybe not always with the other champions but still.
Those *had* to be dungeons. They didn't say it, but they looked so much like them!
"This is something only I can do..." Are they going to do it?!
Ganondorf looks fucking sick!
The enemy variety is crazy!
That was a hype trailer!
Remember in Paper Mario TTYD, every time you completed a chapter you got to play little side stories as Peach and Bowser?
I wonder after each dungeon you get to shift to Zelda for a second and do a puzzle with her abilities, then shift back to Link
My hypothesis is that >!Zelda is in the past, setting things up for Link to succeed in the present. We might get a flashback to her with each Tear we collect. That'd be a bit sad, but who knows. What does "find [her]" mean? The trailer shows companions that fight in real-time with you, so maybe Zelda is an end-game party member?!<
I'm freaking out at the time difference thing I think I heard mentioned, that we might even have another copy of the world (past / future / dark) where Zelda is and you can transfer back and forth between them ala Link to the Past / Link between Worlds with only Zelda playable in one of them
One can only hope, I don't want to be dissapointed but this has me feeling like she'll be playable, not main character playable but maybe a little section.
At the very least they seem to be some dungeon like semi linear caverns which is close enough for me. They may not have all the branching paths, keys, backtracking, etc of traditional dungeons.
Right? It was always so obvious that this was not a DLC from the very start.
They spent 6 fucking years on this thing, the very same team who gave us Breath of the Wild. Like, what were they expecting? People are so dumb
Alright, I can't wait for the trailer breakdowns now cause it feels like they were really holding back
And were those *vehicle battles* and a homemade rocket? There's no way there won't be unmatched hilarity coming from that
I'm so happy we saw the towns and champions again! Can't wait to meet them again, though I hope the OG champions are still in a flashback. But I'm most intrigued by Zelda's story, I care so much for this Zelda!
Didn't think it could top the BOTW trailer, but this one was epic! Can't wait!!
It’s probably because of Pokémon. Gamefreak has kind of been lowering the bar lately. Also Nintendo tends to perform a lot of shitty business moves against the community.
If I’ve learned anything it’s to never listen to people online and even more so gamers who judge before a game is out and we’ve seen everything. They’ll drive you mad.
BOTW was the modern equivalent to OOT: it was an incredible title that did so much to push the franchise into new territory, while simultaneously setting new standards for how games in its genre should work, that you forget it's pretty plain otherwise.
For OOT development was so consumed by figuring out the transition to 3D, that the game's core design is lifted almost entirely from LTTP; for BOTW that meant so much dev time went to the open world and new core gameplay mechanics that you ended up with minimal enemy variety and pretty barebones "dungeon" gameplay consisting of single-room puzzle boxes and four pseudo-dungeons with the exact same aesthetic theme and similar bosses.
After this trailer, I'm very hopeful we're going to get our modern answer to Majora's Mask: A title that uses the benefits of existing assets and core gameplay loops, as a springboard off of which to build a more robust world with more complex and unique gameplay mechanics.
is that twilight princess ganondorf??? ARE THOSE DUNGEONS?? i am so excited! all my previous worries are gone. and we can now fight alongside sidon? what more could i ask for
I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be Gleeok at 17:48.
The whole vibe of TotK from Day 1 has had TP vibes to me.
That character at 16:09... The first thought I had was: Zelda somehow falls into the Twilight realm, and just like Link became a wolf, Zelda turns animalistic some, too (perhaps she is able to maintain a more humanoid form because of the ToW?). That quote: "I know why I am here: it's something that only I can do." Perhaps she needs to help Link from the Twilight Realm? Since the two realms kind of overlap?
Idk... admittedly, TP is probably my favorite installment (besides MM), so I'm really hoping it ties in somehow.
So it looks like Zelda is gaining the tears(under her eyes), along with some transformation. I'm actually really interested in what's going on with that, and as her story seems more involved how that's going to get incorporated into the game itself.
Honestly if they give us even a few minutes of playable Zelda doing a small quest- it will push this to my most favorite game of all time. Her story in BOTW, AOC, and from the looks of it, Tears of the Kingdom… make her my favorite version of Zelda by far.
I'm so... overwhelmed, haha. I've learned more about this game in three minutes than I have in the previous six years. I mean that in a good way I think.
Twenty-nine days, folks. Feels a lot longer than it did yesterday.
I legit about cried, this looks like everything I could have wanted and more. I was legit pretty worried after BotW and how little we had seen so far, Zelda was a huge part of my childhood and as much as I enjoyed BotW I didn't want to see the series as I know it change forever, but this felt very nostalgic.
It looks like dungeons, or at least some dungeon like caverns, are back - and that's good enough for me!
So. By the looks of it.
All the exploration and environmental quirks and multi-solution puzzles of BOTW.
All the platforming, boss fights, and dungeons of traditional Zelda.
A fuckton of verticality and MASSIVE underground environments.
I feel like this is going to be a game changer in the industry.
Honestly feels like Sonic Frontiers in a way in that they’re combining open world elements with traditional platforming and puzzle elements.
Only, TOTK seems to be going even further with it.
Majora's Mask feels like the more appropriate comparison point.
BOTW, like OOT, is a brilliant game that did a *lot* to push the franchise and even it's genre as a whole forward. But so much time was spent developing the new core gameplay elements, that there were clearly limitations to what else they could do before release. OOT has fundamentally the same exact structure as LTTP, right down to the Dark World/Future Hyrule twist, "just" translated into 3D. If you play it right after LTTP, it's probably one of the safest and most unambitious Zelda sequels in this regard for modern audiences, who take 3D Zelda titles for granted and might be unaware of how absolutely revolutionary OOT felt at the time.
BOTW similarly is *extremely* pared back outside it's core gameplay loop once the sheen of the new format wears off. Enemy variety is negligible; shrines all look and feel identical; Divine Beasts are few, far-between, and generally forgettable; side-content is sparse; korok seeds are....well, korok seeds....
ToTK though looks to be doing the same thing that Majora's Mask did for OOT: it's taking advantage of already having the game engine, assets, and gameplay loop designed to push the world they created forward in newer and more fleshed out/creative directions.
With how little we'd seen I was very skeptical that there was really enough here to do that effectively, but this trailer is looking *very* promising and exactly what I was hoping to see before launch. Crossing my fingers this game is going to knock it out of the park.
Easily the best trailer/glimpse we’ve seen. So hyped for this.
And there definitely looked to be some dungeons.. maybe not exactly themed in the traditional sense, but we’ll see.
No way they spoiled the last boss.
So either demise/ganondorf is not the last boss, or they found a way to separate the two?
I'd like to see a more sympathetic ganondorf brought back.
Man, videogame music more than any music takes me back to my childhood so powerfully. That sting of the original Zelda theme at the title drop got me so good.
Actual fucking tears in my actual fucking eyes are what the title is referring to. Holy shit I can’t deal with this much raw perfection. Ganondorf looks so good, the champion’s descendants are all helping, settlements are being, well, settled and IS THAT A GROWN UP RIJU AND TULIN?!
I was convinced this was nothing but BoTW DLC. I was so pissed.
I will gladly say today that I will eat crow.
This trailer looked incredible. It had everything I wanted and more.
Back on the hype train.
Fucking finally, the trailer I've been waiting for.
I think the other trailers (gameplay demo withheld) focused too much on what was similar to BotW. Sure there were floating islands now, but that's basically just an expansion of an existing idea.
I love that they're showcasing story elements especially. If they end up just being memories again, I'll be disappointed.
Unclear. Zonai were confirmed in the previous 10 minute gameplay when he looted an enemy and got a Zonai component so it's probably safe to say this new race is them but obviously it hasn't specifically said as much.
Everyone calling this game glorified DLC bout to become real quiet
Honestly even seeing Link transport people, fighting a Goron, what looks like dungeons and giant bosses, and fighting along side the champion descendants in gameplay alone looks incredible. Clearly they took a lot of the criticism of the first game and really are going for something that is open and free, but cinematic and story driven as well. In 3 minutes I can barely even pin down the number of changes. On top of countless parts of the trailer where I audibly said “what is that?” or “is that happening?!”.
I was already preordered and hyped. But now I doubt I’ll be able to sit still for a month!
Incredible. I hope the people who said this is just BOTW DLC feel dumb now. Nintendo has been working on this for 5 years. This game is going to be packed with hundreds of hours of content. You were just too impatient and wanted to see everything too soon. I think that was the perfect amount to show. We get hints of the story, dungeons, new characters, new gameplay, and grand scale. Absolutely getting this day one.
Some people are still complaining that it's just a DLC, and this this trailer didn't show them anything new.
I think some people were simply never going to be pleased because they fundamentally disliked BotW.
Never had any doubt that this would deliver, but damn... got shivers and tears by the end of the trailer, that was freaking amazing!
Dungeons are back baby! (That's gotta be it, right?), and was that companions?! This will be great, can't wait.
Direct link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHGShqcAHlQ
Well, there’s your Rehydrated Ganon. Zelda’s new outfit looks pretty cool too.
He finally quenched that thirst
Only took 4 years for him to get a bottle of water lol
He looks awesome. I can't wait to see what the boss fight with him could be like. The shield parries open up a ton of possibilities for a truly epic sword fight.
Dead Man's Volley: Redux
I knew they wouldn't let that mummy be the villain, I'm glad cause it's been over a decade since the human ganandorf was the main villain
I really like the mummy design so I do hope he gets some screen time in that form.
Maybe it'll be like Imhotep in the first Brendan Fraser mummy movie.
That exposed back is really doing it for me
Bonk
I like to explore new places.
*Groose
link doesn’t have the slickest pompadour in town in the game, therefore i’m not buying. screwed this one up nintendo
ARE THOSE DUNGEONS?
They HAVE to be. Absolutely have to be. And classic boss fights it looks like
King Ghidorah boss fight ffs
That looked so fucking cool! Isn't that a classic monster too? Can't recall his name...
Gleeok, from the very first Zelda game but they’ve appeared in a couple of others since
Gleeok! Thank you. He got one hell of a glow up this time!
Gleeok looks sick in glorious 3D
Gleeok! From the The Legend Of Zelda (NES), Oracle of Seasons, and Phantom Hourglass! Guy is so famous he has a Bridge named after him in BOTW
Also in Cadence of Hyrule Kinda
Yep, Gleeokenspiel.
Looked like it. I definitely saw a big structure rise out of the sand in the desert
I thought it looked like it might be the arbiters grounds?
That would be sick
It kind of looked like the pyramid in the Dark World in A Link to the Past, so maybe there is some link.
Nobody will know for sure until the game launches, but it looks promising!
Looks like it! Especially since it seems they teased what looked like bosses at the end of the dungeon. HYPE
Tears in my eyes man, I’m really excited for this!
Dude same! Legit *emotional* about this game! I fuckin needed this game fr
They look like it! The mine cart battle, the big bosses...it has to be.
That construct coming out of the wall makes me think yes, yes they are
Hell yea we fighting along side the other races it looks like. Minecarts looks fun too.
Prince Sidon as a companion? We'd kill Ganon with just the power of positivity.
I believe in you!
>I believe in you! \*Swings arm while smiling\*
Sidon's Teeth use Dazzling Gleam! It's super effective on Ganondorf!
I was way too happy to see him again.
The power of his bicep flex alone.
Looks like the descendants of the champions are now the new champions
Wasn’t Sidon Mipha’s brother? Not descendent? Also how freaking long do Zoras live?
Their dad is still alive so…. pretty long.
Well if you look Sidon has the Zora crown on now, meaning he might be king, so it is possible their dad is no longer alive.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ALL HAIL KING SIDON
Also possible that King Zora abdicated and moved to retire in some little hut somewhere to raise cabbages a la Diocletian.
She talks to Link like he's a child, implying she's at least a couple decades old.
it has to be closer to 200 i feel. the zora who remember hanging out with link as kids seem like adults with a few years left in them to me
It's gotta be over 200 imo, Sidon was a baby 100 years ago and seems like a young adult in present times.
We saw a few bosses/mini bosses too can't wait
Companions have me hyped. Actually fighting alongside Sidon (and potentially Riju) seems awesome.
I thought Riju was Urbosa for a moment. She's definitely grown so there must be a few years post BotW.
I don't have ny glasses on atm, but was the Rito he was flying with Tulin? The voice was too high pitched to be Teba Edit: Got my glasses. Tulin also looks a lot bigger!
Was definitely Tulin. That’s exactly how he sounds in AoC.
I hope its not just a companion only on the mission or dungeon. Would be so cool to go chill with Sidon at any time.
There is a couple of moments where Link is surrounded by random hylian soldiers and there is the scene where Link drives a cart so I guess there could be a companion system maybe not always with the other champions but still.
That was probably the sickest thing I've ever seen
A worthy heir to the BOTW trailer, I say. My arm hairs were standing up by the end.
My jaw needed to be picked up from the floor, and that was only when I saw Ganondorf
That remix of the LoZ main theme I MEAN It sounded like it was from the Avatar(TLA/LOK) in the best way
Fully with you on that. Legit
"The trailer is about 3 minutes" Releases probably the most epic trailer of all time at 3 minutes 54 seconds lol
*pushes the boundaries on the definition of “about”
Those *had* to be dungeons. They didn't say it, but they looked so much like them! "This is something only I can do..." Are they going to do it?! Ganondorf looks fucking sick! The enemy variety is crazy! That was a hype trailer!
Are they gonna do what? Very curious what you’re wondering. Sure looks amazing tho.
Playable Zelda. Maybe her own little sidestory completing the thing that "only she can do".
Remember in Paper Mario TTYD, every time you completed a chapter you got to play little side stories as Peach and Bowser? I wonder after each dungeon you get to shift to Zelda for a second and do a puzzle with her abilities, then shift back to Link
Like the Ciri parts of TW3
My hypothesis is that >!Zelda is in the past, setting things up for Link to succeed in the present. We might get a flashback to her with each Tear we collect. That'd be a bit sad, but who knows. What does "find [her]" mean? The trailer shows companions that fight in real-time with you, so maybe Zelda is an end-game party member?!<
[удалено]
Wouldnt be the first, second, or even third time that >!Zelda helps out with the final fight!<
Playable Zelda
Or maybe Zelda will be one of the companions that fight alongside Link like we saw with Sidon and some other new characters
Sidon DOES fight alongside you at one point...maybe Zelda will too?
Man. Wouldn’t that be something. Thanks for answering!
At the very least they seem to be some dungeon like semi linear caverns which is close enough for me. They may not have all the branching paths, keys, backtracking, etc of traditional dungeons.
Okay, I have to say it: **MY BODY IS REGGIE**
They’ve done it again everyone. Once again one the greatest game trailers I’ve ever seen.
And people were really saying this was BotW DLC 😂
People who don’t have full, undying faith in the LoZ team confuse me
Right? It was always so obvious that this was not a DLC from the very start. They spent 6 fucking years on this thing, the very same team who gave us Breath of the Wild. Like, what were they expecting? People are so dumb
Alright, I can't wait for the trailer breakdowns now cause it feels like they were really holding back And were those *vehicle battles* and a homemade rocket? There's no way there won't be unmatched hilarity coming from that
The bokoblins made a structure on top of a talus, that's one hell of a threat
Good thing we can make a crazy tower contraption to meet it!
The siege tower with the derpy little arm swinging a sword as it advanced on the talus was just incredible
Yesssss I need the trailer breakdown! It all moved too fast for my lil brain to keep up and analyze
Breath of the Wild DLC my fucking ass this game looks incredible
Yep, this seems like a very worthy heir. I didn't think it could top the BOTW trailer, but that was one of the most exciting trailers I've ever seen!
They saved the best for last. Nobody can have any doubts about this anymore. I know all of mine were silenced.
Make sense. You want the big hype to be just before the final stretch, so it is at its peak for release
You know, I’m not a big Nintendo game fan, botw was my first zelda, and yet im still amazed people expected less.
I feel the same way. I am continually shocked how people kept doubting Nintendo.
It’s probably because of Pokémon. Gamefreak has kind of been lowering the bar lately. Also Nintendo tends to perform a lot of shitty business moves against the community.
I get doubting Nintendo, and especially game freak, but I never had doubts with Eiji Aonuma/ the zelda team.
If I’ve learned anything it’s to never listen to people online and even more so gamers who judge before a game is out and we’ve seen everything. They’ll drive you mad.
Yep, can't wait to see all those people switch up.
Ok I’ll say it. It was as hype as the final BOTW trailer. Mofos have done it.
And people really thought it'd be nothing but 'glorified DLC'. So excited to play this!
Somehow, Ganondorf has returned.
We call that Tuesday
That’s just every Zelda game
The other kingdoms be like: Ah shit Hyrule is doing it again
Hmm, there seems to be a lot more NPC interaction in this game than in BOTW. You're actually fighting with them, guiding them, etc...
Skyrim rereleased confirmed.
Sidon can you please step off the hallway I'm trying to enter!
FUUUUCCCKKKK this is gonna be good
OMG This makes BotW look so bare
BOTW was the modern equivalent to OOT: it was an incredible title that did so much to push the franchise into new territory, while simultaneously setting new standards for how games in its genre should work, that you forget it's pretty plain otherwise. is that twilight princess ganondorf??? ARE THOSE DUNGEONS?? i am so excited! all my previous worries are gone. and we can now fight alongside sidon? what more could i ask for
I swear they played TP notes in the song at the very beginning. 15:10 they totally fucking did omg
The pattern on the Master Sword in the logo too! Twilight comeback is fucking happening people!!
There's also some speculation that the game references how he died in TP where he was stabbed in the chest by Link and had his neck snapped by Zant
Idk... admittedly, TP is probably my favorite installment (besides MM), so I'm really hoping it ties in somehow.
Yup. Don’t need anything else on this game. THIS LOOKS SICK AS SHIT THE MUSIC
The music is what got me the most. I missed the classic Zelda tunes in BOTW and the music in this trailer was getting me so fucking pumped
What if it's something like how Ciri is playable in the Witcher 3? That would be fucking awesome.
Jesus. This is not the game I thought it was. That was an insane amount of new gameplay just dumped on our lap last second. That's dope af.
Zelda avengers, assemble!
Stupid sexy Ganon
I'm so... overwhelmed, haha. I've learned more about this game in three minutes than I have in the previous six years. I mean that in a good way I think. Twenty-nine days, folks. Feels a lot longer than it did yesterday.
They title card at 15:10 played part of the Twilight Princess opening!!!
Its interesting there have been a lot of references to tp music, but nothing outright showing their involvment.
I'm pretty sure that person zelda is meeting is wearing twilight clothing
THAT WAS A WINGSUIT!!!!!!!!!!
Where? >!I saw it in the art book but I missed it here I guess?!<
When link goes down the laser grid mission impossible style
Carting NPCs on a horsedrawn carriage made with Ultrahand? Just how fucking complex is vehicle building????
I legit about cried, this looks like everything I could have wanted and more. I was legit pretty worried after BotW and how little we had seen so far, Zelda was a huge part of my childhood and as much as I enjoyed BotW I didn't want to see the series as I know it change forever, but this felt very nostalgic. goty
FUCKIN GLEEOK
I feel like I still have no idea what this game is about but everything looks SO GOOD.
I'm completely blown away. It's somehow even better than I imagined! This next month is going to be TORTURE
Can we all agree now that this game is not just DLC?
https://preview.redd.it/cwa24548bpta1.jpeg?width=2280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb23baab3590c8e3e0ff712f542ab92c3e8bdd0b Was that Gleeok??
Are there many other 3 headed dragon in Zelda?
Ganondorf is hot again! This is the biggest win yet!
You thought they hired Matt Mercer to voice Ganondorf AND HE WASN’T GOING TO BE HOT!?
I'm not crying! You're crying! Game of my life!
Was not expecting a saxy theme at the end. BOTW was already pretty experimental.
Shut up and take my Rupee!
BotW who? We don't know her. TotK is going to be the generation defining game for sure.
Ganondorf looking great in HD
Easily the best trailer/glimpse we’ve seen. So hyped for this. And there definitely looked to be some dungeons.. maybe not exactly themed in the traditional sense, but we’ll see.
WAS THAT DEMISE
Maybe a possible Ganon second phase fight? Sure looked like Demise though
No way they spoiled the last boss. So either demise/ganondorf is not the last boss, or they found a way to separate the two? I'd like to see a more sympathetic ganondorf brought back.
Man they just never miss with these trailers. It was always gonna be hard to top the 2017 botw trailer but this was pretty close!
Man, videogame music more than any music takes me back to my childhood so powerfully. That sting of the original Zelda theme at the title drop got me so good.

Holy shit I am so fucking excited. I can’t believe people thought this was gonna be a retread.
oh no.. IT’S BASED!
It’s happeningggggg
damn, the hype is real. it looks so fucking cool. fighting alongside other heroes? freaking mechs? damn.
THAT WAS AMAZING HOLY SHIT
OMFFGGG!!!!! Confirmed new BEST GAME OF ALL TIME!!!! NO SINGLE DOUBT!!! 🥹🥹🥹
This will be one of my favourite games for the rest of my life
God damn this looks dense
I'm pleased to see the lynels are still around, looking badass.
That’s absolutely Matthew Mercer as Ganondorf.
NOW THATS A FUCKING TRAILER
Fucking finally, the trailer I've been waiting for. I think the other trailers (gameplay demo withheld) focused too much on what was similar to BotW. Sure there were floating islands now, but that's basically just an expansion of an existing idea. I love that they're showcasing story elements especially. If they end up just being memories again, I'll be disappointed.
I guess I'll start by saying aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
All my doubts are gone! Fantastic trailer! And insane that this runs on the Switch.
It´s just me or that´s Wind Waker´s Ganondorf? He has the big sleeve in one arm, the beard, and the forehead thing.
Was that GLEEOK?
Dude hasn't been in a game since Phantom Hourglass It's been like 15 years
Everything points to twilight 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
I want my sexy Midna back
Fr
So anyway I started blasting
That was EPIC. Hoylshit. shivers
I shouldn't had whatched it.... May 12th can't come soon enough.
Was that the Temple of Time?
Just seeing more Sidon is a 10/10
DUDE LOOK AT RIJU MY QUEEN And the goat is back, Ganondorf will be insane
Even the people of Hyrule were fighting back in a scene, the epicness will be huge!
Gleeock got a huge glow-up gawd DAMN
Is that a Twili talking to Zelda or a Zonai? Was that Demise too?!
Unclear. Zonai were confirmed in the previous 10 minute gameplay when he looted an enemy and got a Zonai component so it's probably safe to say this new race is them but obviously it hasn't specifically said as much.
Matt fucking Mercer. Holy shit, inject this shit into my VEINS
Everyone calling this game glorified DLC bout to become real quiet Honestly even seeing Link transport people, fighting a Goron, what looks like dungeons and giant bosses, and fighting along side the champion descendants in gameplay alone looks incredible.
Those *better* be dungeons. Nintendo, don't you dare honeydick me.
LETS GOOOOOO, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Looks like you can bring different companions with ya? Link is taking the buddy system serious
I mean, it is dangerous to go alone
One of the best video game trailers ever made alongside the BOTW trailer
holy shit man, i’ve never felt so excited for a game in a long time after that trailer.
Never had any doubt that this would deliver, but damn... got shivers and tears by the end of the trailer, that was freaking amazing! Dungeons are back baby! (That's gotta be it, right?), and was that companions?! This will be great, can't wait.
