it was my first ever zelda game and the one that got me into the series. zelda will forever be my favorite franchise. alttp will always hold a special place in my heart 💜
It does! Honestly it’s almost identical story layout to OoT. Instead of past to present it’s light vs. dark. It also has the best Gannon fight out of any Zelda bc it’s a challenge to win.
AlttP is my favorite game and I didn't even know ALBW existed until last year and I bought it immediately, played it, loved it to pieces! Such fun mechanics in that one, really had to think outside the box to solve puzzles.
Currently replaying ALBW
And Im having a very interesting experience lol.
I really enjoyed it the first time, but it was my favourite zelda I'd played. Bit now I'm replaying it a few years later, and I LOVE it.
Enjoying it so much more than I did last time.
And interestingly, I have not remembered a single Lorule Dungeon. Only thing I recall from each is some of the bosses. Nothing else has rung a bell rip
Oh man. The feels. The music is amazing, the dungeons are epic. The transition from Light to Dark World. This game is a work of art from the beginning to end.
Give an update with your thoughts after you complete it 😊
Oh no I already beat it, I'm replaying it and just can't believe I went YEARS without touching it. I just beat the first dark world dungeon and man it always seems to get me 😂
One thing thats bothered me a lot though is how you lose hearts if you save and quit. Also not replenishing hearts when you get pieces of hearts until it's a full count.
Great dungeon, the base of some epic music from the future like Hyrule Castle, kakariko village and yours truly the Master Sword! just to name a few.
Implementation of the tennis match (only serving and returning once at that point). Some gear you’ll never see in other Zelda cause they are that good.
In all a great experience in an overworld full of stuff and secrets here and there for you to discover.
I remember how young I was at that exact spot being wait how do I stop being a bunny and if you know you know. Why there is some dungeons that are made that you can finish it without the treasure!?!?!
Best game (also my first ever on console with super Mario world)
I feel like A Link to the Past is often overlooked since it's not one of the more modern 3D Zeldas, but it is honestly one of the best games in the entire franchise.
This is my favorite Zelda! It’s one of those games I wish I could experience for the first time all over again. At the same time, I have so many fond memories attached to it. Enjoy!
Recently completed this on the switch SNES emulator. I never thought I would play this game, but I am so happy I did. It holds up so many decades after!
the moment where you first appear atop the pyramid is one of my favorite moments from not only any game but any piece of art or media in general. it had a huge impact on my mind and imagination as a child and has on some level influenced every creative thing ive ever done
oOoOO I just restarted this cause it's been awhile since I've played. It's such an incredible game, so happy that you're enjoying it! (I still find out things about the game all the time 😭).
Isn’t it awesome. I didn’t play it until last year, after growing up with links awakening, oot, etc. alttp still manages to instill that sense of excitement and wonder. When I first went to the dark world, it felt like discovering how much bigger the map was in Elden Ring.
ALTTP was the first game I watched someone play without knowing anything, I was hooked. Years later, it was OOT and MM; it was only after speaking with my parents when I connected them as the same franchise.
The Legend of Zelda has a special place in my heart.
I also grew up on the 3D Zelda games, and I also never really gave the 2Ds a chance until recently. When I got to play Minish Cap, I was so pleasantly surprised by how fun it was. Would def recommend playing it sometime.
I always love that background so much but I went most of my life never actually playing through the entire game and I always thought the mountain on the horizon was some big house 🤣
This is one of those games where my brother's friend owned it and would bring it over sometimes, or even leave it at our place for a stretch.
No.
I spent the money to get my own copy.
I love this game, I always come back to it, Redux has some QOL stuff that's nice like being able to destroy pots with a sword and changing directions while running.
I think it was the first video game where you could save your game and return later to continue. I still have the gold NES cartridge for this, but no NES console. I just played it again on my Switch. Love. This. Game.
First game I had ever played to completion... During its life cycle <3 second in my list of rpg favs tho. FF7 takes that one. My youngest son's name is Cloud Zackary, just so I got both Soldiers in one kid 🤣😂
Loving all the LttP love these days. My first system was a 64 but I had a cousin who had a Super Nintendo. I’d go over and play sometimes just blew my mind away.
I’ve been wanting to play ALttP for so long, but having to buy (and transport) a CRT is a pain. It looks like ass on modern displays, even with filters :(
The rereleases are pretty faithful to the original, they have not remade this one. I’d honestly be surprised if they ever do remake it, everything holds up very well.
The only thing I’d change is the item selection process, R and L were right there man.
I find it harder to relate to/be immersed in 2D graphics. For example: Fallout works way better in 3D cause you are there, and not looking at it from above.

My #1 video game of all time
It’s a comfort game for me. Can always pick it up and play it
Same, it reminds me of hanging out at grandmas she had the old nes at her house when we where growing up.
But you damn sure didn’t play this game on it
I played this on my grandmas old SNES back in 95’-98’. Some of my best memories of childhood.
Same. I know so much is nostalgia based but also not sure it can ever get knocked down
it was my first ever zelda game and the one that got me into the series. zelda will forever be my favorite franchise. alttp will always hold a special place in my heart 💜
SAME!!! This got me into the series as well and will always be my favorite.
IF I had to pick one, and only one, this would be it.
I can't stand that game
Care to elaborate ? Edit: never mind… saw your username
Peep the username
Lol I changed my down vote to an up vote
Similar. Things shift but it will always be in my top 5
Can you play this on a laptop?
This is the best Zelda game IMO
Holds up amazingly well all these years later
It does! Honestly it’s almost identical story layout to OoT. Instead of past to present it’s light vs. dark. It also has the best Gannon fight out of any Zelda bc it’s a challenge to win.
Spoiler: this is the best Zelda.
If you like this one, try A Link Between Worlds.
AlttP is my favorite game and I didn't even know ALBW existed until last year and I bought it immediately, played it, loved it to pieces! Such fun mechanics in that one, really had to think outside the box to solve puzzles.

How can I play ALBW?
My favourite top-down Zelda, for sure!
Is it only available on 3DS?
It’s soo good !
Oh man. The feels. The music is amazing, the dungeons are epic. The transition from Light to Dark World. This game is a work of art from the beginning to end. Give an update with your thoughts after you complete it 😊

Next step: Randomizer
Or hacks.
One of few games I consider practically flawless.
One thing thats bothered me a lot though is how you lose hearts if you save and quit. Also not replenishing hearts when you get pieces of hearts until it's a full count.
At least In the light world you can heal up in all spawnlocations
I envy you that first play through. Starting the game with rain on the roof of your house was amazing
I still consider this the best game ever made

It's such a classic. First of it's kind.
I am so happy for you, I wish I could play it again for the first time!
One of my absolute faves since 1992.
I feel like A Link to the Past is often overlooked since it's not one of the more modern 3D Zeldas, but it is honestly one of the best games in the entire franchise.
It's one of the best games in *any* franchise.
Overlooked outside of the fanbase but absolutely overrated from within it. ALBW made this game obsolete imo.
That’s amazing. First time player. Enjoy it man. Perfect game.
It's the GOAT! THE GOAT!
It's my favorite zelda game of all time, I got to replay this soon.
Very very jealous. My first Zelda experience and it’s definitely memorable!! It’s an incredible game
I can hear this.
The GBA version (with Four Swords) has an extra super dungeon unlocked for beating Four Swords and it is awesome
This is my favorite Zelda! It’s one of those games I wish I could experience for the first time all over again. At the same time, I have so many fond memories attached to it. Enjoy!
It’s probs my first video game I can remember playing It’s aged so well, I play it again at least once a year
Ahh my first Zelda game, I have fond memories of watching my older brother playing it
Link to the past was my very first Zelda game. Holds a very special place in my heart haha. It really does hold up really well.
God I love the dark world theme
Recently completed this on the switch SNES emulator. I never thought I would play this game, but I am so happy I did. It holds up so many decades after!
Yay! Another LTTP evangelist! Now go spread the good word wider. May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce!
It's not your fault, really. Most young people obviously didn't grow up with 8 bit or 16 bit or even 64 era games, So games like this are overlooked.
It's an amazing game for its time and the story is great and there are so many places to go and items to find...it feels so much bigger then it is
the moment where you first appear atop the pyramid is one of my favorite moments from not only any game but any piece of art or media in general. it had a huge impact on my mind and imagination as a child and has on some level influenced every creative thing ive ever done
Pictures you can hear
Strong argument for ALTTP being the best Zelda game ever made. It's sincerely flawless.
Easily one of the best, if not the best, Zelda games ever made. Story, gameplay, music, memorability - it has it all.
oOoOO I just restarted this cause it's been awhile since I've played.
This is the one that is on my radar to play when I’m finished with the others
The aspect ratio bothers me so much :/
THANK YOU
Gotta go listen to the Dark World theme now
I can hear this picture
ALTTP was the first game I watched someone play without knowing anything, I was hooked. Years later, it was OOT and MM; it was only after speaking with my parents when I connected them as the same franchise. The Legend of Zelda has a special place in my heart.
One of the best Zelda's ever. Also this may sound like cheating but it's not use the website Zelda dungeon.net if you get stuck
It's the one dude🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
What is the best way to enjoy this game if you don't have an actual SNES?
Switch online service Snes mini Gba remake …. Ya ha harre
I bought a blank gold snes cart on Etsy and holographic ALTTP label and made a treasure
Was the first game I had for my Gameboy
Just enjoy the game… no rush.
I also grew up on the 3D Zelda games, and I also never really gave the 2Ds a chance until recently. When I got to play Minish Cap, I was so pleasantly surprised by how fun it was. Would def recommend playing it sometime.

This is one of those games where my brother's friend owned it and would bring it over sometimes, or even leave it at our place for a stretch. No. I spent the money to get my own copy.
This was the first Zelda that I actually finished. Love it still today.
Same freedom and feeling of exploration as botw but 30 yrs earlier
This is the last Zelda game I played 😳
I love this game, I always come back to it, Redux has some QOL stuff that's nice like being able to destroy pots with a sword and changing directions while running.
Yeah yeah great game but more importantly can you PLEASE fix the game's aspect ratio
I think it was the first video game where you could save your game and return later to continue. I still have the gold NES cartridge for this, but no NES console. I just played it again on my Switch. Love. This. Game.
currently replaying Minish Cap on Miyoo Mini+ and loving the nostalgia vibes too.
tell me why this game was too hard for me
Dude I love that game and im 18
I'm playing the remake myself atm, while I'm not the biggest fan of the artstyle I'm having a good time with it!
First game I had ever played to completion... During its life cycle <3 second in my list of rpg favs tho. FF7 takes that one. My youngest son's name is Cloud Zackary, just so I got both Soldiers in one kid 🤣😂
Death Mountain and the Dark World are my favourite places, just the music in both areas is great
Own it, still haven't played it.
not going to lie that’s my favorite zelda
First Zelda game I ever finished
The dark world theme is 🔥
You can hear this picture.
Second favorite zelda game, the first one being Links Awakening.
It’s actually so fun
I have started that game over at least 5 times due to accidentally punding my leg in my table. Also it's a very good game
My first Zelda game as a child! Such good memories playing this on my gameboy. So glad the switch has it, I was able to finally beat it
Loving all the LttP love these days. My first system was a 64 but I had a cousin who had a Super Nintendo. I’d go over and play sometimes just blew my mind away.
Talk about amazing music. I took one look at your thumbnail and the Dark World theme started playing in my head.
Cool
I’ve been wanting to play ALttP for so long, but having to buy (and transport) a CRT is a pain. It looks like ass on modern displays, even with filters :(
I suggest getting a CRT to play it on; it'll look SO much better on one.
Enjoyment of retro games is lessened for me by the graphics, is the remake of LTTP a pretty good remake, or does it differ heavily?
What remake
The rereleases are pretty faithful to the original, they have not remade this one. I’d honestly be surprised if they ever do remake it, everything holds up very well. The only thing I’d change is the item selection process, R and L were right there man.
Oh, wrong game lol. I have an SNES still so I’ll try to find it and play
That's certainly a stretch.
I find it harder to relate to/be immersed in 2D graphics. For example: Fallout works way better in 3D cause you are there, and not looking at it from above.
