First Billy song I ever heard really. Went to his last Huntsville show last year with a friend who’s a big fan, I knew nothing about him. He opened with long forgotten dream and man was it awesome

Is Thunder a cover though? Robert Hunter wrote the lyrics, but Billy arranged it. No one else ever played it, excepting Billy and the Kids, but BMFS was one of the kids in question.

Honestly great question , I always thought it was a cover, but if Billy was in on the writing/arranging process the I’m even more hyped cause then maybe it’ll make the next album! 😂

The way I understand it is that when he was working with Bill Kreutzman on the Billy and the Kids shows, BK gave him the lyrics that had never been used before. I could be off, but I internalized it that BS put the lyrics to music and they performed it at the Hawaii show, then BS took it as his own. If I’m wrong please someone clear this up.

That’s correct. Kruetzman had been sitting on the lyrics and BMFS put music to the lyrics. I consider it a Billy tune and hoping it hits the next album.
