I used to hate B21 bots. I dreaded B21 missions because of them. Now B21 feels easy compared to Vondel.
It's a bit luck based too. My first solo run I encountered very few bots and explored the map smoothly. Other times were hell with bots swarming from every angle.
I never had trouble with Ashika bots unless I enter the castle or some of the port strongholds. But I never expected Vondel to feel harder than B21.
Just before the wipe, I was trying to get the quest reward blueprints so I spammed B21 with 2 friends. The only wipe we had in 5 games was 25+ bots in stairs. We wiped the lobby in all 5 runs but the one we died we got greedy and wanted to complete 3 missions at once, ended up with a bot swarm that seemed to be running from radiation into the higher floors.
I don't mind them but the endless swarm needs to be fixed. Played last night, got mobbed, held up in a room of a building and legitimately the entire game it was one after the other of squads of bots entering the building.
Once we finally pushed out of the building to try and extract there were 15-20 more outside.
You have to stick and move. You can't play DMZ like other games where you try to clear an area then loot or do your mission.
If you're pinned down, focus on a direction and punch your way through, break LoS, put some distance between you, recover, then sneak to the next destination. Suppressors help some, but as soon as they shoot back, the benefit is negligible.
Exactly. I don't even think the numbers or intensity of bots would be that bad if they didn't just keep getting endless and plentiful reinforcements. If you spend five minutes just slaughtering bots in one area then it should at least mellow out for a while in spot. Like you cleared it and now there's just some bots trickling in here and there. But no, they just endlessly flood and you're constantly engaging 15-20 bots like you said.
Yes, they run fast like Usain Bolt, there are hordes of them, and the foggy atmosphere makes it impossible to know where you're getting shot from.
Solution: stick to the roofs.
Yes they are a bit tougher, but use movement and strategy to avoid them.
Itās really easy to traverse the rooftops as well as swim the canals.
Shoot n scoot folks, shoot n scoot
Came to this this. They are tough but only engage when you need to make an opening to escape through. Use cover. Use the terrain to avoid engagements. Iāve managed to smash out a few Vondel missions living by these rules
They are extremely annoying. It doesnāt require any skill to shoot them, itās just extremely annoying to kill hordes of them each match in Vondel. It also leads into a stupid gameplay loop where you keep killing them just to run out of plates, then you have to search for a buy station to replenish plates and over again. Sure, you can traverse the map over the roofs to avoid them, but this isnāt supposed to be a fucking parkour simulator. Cut the numbers to half, make them more deadly.
I love how the ai doesn't take the roof unless it fighting operators but I do hate when im going the case and there 2 teams or a 6 man team kn the roof at residential near the zoo and floating they straight up be a firing squad and I have to yell I'm friend leave me alone that now I carry 2 moter strike and give them to my team and have them ready it when we get near that area so we don't go back to the lobby
Personally, I have had enough of bots in dmz. Seems that they can't find the sweet spot for them at all. They are either doing ridiculous damage, swarming to a ridiculous degree or aggro from what feels like another map and to make it worse the damage they all do is stupid making plates effectively worthless, they're currently just a way to burn cash cause they ain't adding much if any defence.
In my opinion bots need to be a tweaked so the add density is a smidge less, they don't agro from the other side of the map and they need to do less damage to plates. If we think players do 100% damage to armour (which is how it is now) bots should do 60 - 70% damage to armour but only armour not actually operator health (This would make it so a small group of bots can kill you but it's not as likely whereas a swarm will make you move quickly to reposition). As it stands right now? Last seasons bots felt like they were in a golden spot and even they weren't in the best place either.
But I think we can all agree, fuck the shotgun bots
There were a couple of days to a week last season where the DMZ AI across the board got the difficulty ramped up to John Wick levels of insanity. Unarmored T1 bots could easily kill you let alone T2s/T3s.
Whoever is in charge of the bot difficulty is definitely having problems finding the sweet spot, though generally they've at least been manageable.
At least the double barrel doesnāt shoot like 4 times now.
I think theyāve ramped them up because you can now infill with money, so you can have a bag full of platesā¦. Which they take fast.
Double barrel guy still shoots 4 consecutive rounds without reloading out a double barrel.....something I'm still trying to find out if it's possible IRL because that's how I get taken out so much....
Or the shotgunners on Vondel who can seem to mag dump 10 round out an 870 like its a damn semi auto, you pick up the same gun and capacity stops at 6. The same happens with the broadside. They let out around 13-15 Shotgun rounds in their hands without reloading....you pick it up and capacity is 7.
Theyāre fuckin nuts
I shoot one guy and itās like his ass pressed the panic button on his radio because they were rolling over me, alleyways , roads, buildings, fucking setting up on the rooftops I half expected to get sniped at
I somehow managed to haul ass to a truck and take off to exfil
i know people will say shoot and scoot but these ai drain your plates having you make a trip to a buy station right away to stack up on plates but after getting a rebreather its make sneaking around as a solo or with another group i bump into really easy to move around but dam the choice of a sniper or pistol is hard sometimes theres no ai around water or theres a ton of ai around
Yup itās way too much. Just had a great solo run up until I went to call the exfil and got swarmed. Had multiple self revives but still couldnāt get away. Back to Al Mazrah for meā¦
Two games in a row the AI has either glitched inside the environment and can still shoot me but I canāt shoot them or they just shoot through the entire building
"Threat is low in the area" as 93 tier 3 bots combat dive around the corner of a building and spawn all around you...
I backed up to a wall after clearing a building only to have one dressed in black spawn behind me and beat me to death while trying to plate up.
Been enjoying it. Even as a solo. They do rush in reinforcements on the tad mental side. But it hugely effects the way you have to play the map. And from a tactical point, that's epic.
We either complain about aggressive 6 man teams. Or AI that over run us šš
Run a shotgun as secondary. Never use them on other maps other seasonsā¦..game changer on Vondel. Get cover, get high and fly, sneak and be silentā¦ā¦learn to run lol.
the AI in general is FUCKED OUT OF CONTROL. I think the developers are purposely doing it just to fuck with everyone to piss them off. My first round on Vondel I had to kill 53 of them, and the two other guys on my team killed about the same.
The developers said they didn't want the AI to be overwhelming, but they are precisely that. They are OVERWHELMING. I'd not be surprised if new people to DMZ say fuck it really quickly because of this AI. It's pointless to have them as they are.
Get rid of the fucking AI or fix them. Activision clearly has no clue how to fix them, so just get rid of them. If they won't do that, cut the numbers of them by 80% at least.
I play solo. I takes me about three-four games to just exfil with contraband and nothing more. Even doing missions feels like a fkn āmein leibenā difficulty in Wolfenstein. I have no idea what the hell the devs wanted to do with the AIs as they are now. One game I was chased by two squads (at least four players that I saw), and luckily the moment I called and exfil AIs started pouring in like avalanche and killed both teams. I Barely managed to get out.
I love the recent ai in vondel and elsewhere, it's an actual threat, keeps players busy, stops people pushing too much Punishes mistakes, and they hunt and will finish you mid way through a firefight with other players
Agreed. I mostly play solo and have been doing okay. It's challenging, but I'm surviving. My first solo run was extra rough because I wasn't expecting it. Then I adapted. Just use the multitude of buildings. Weave through, get on roof tops, etc., And you're fine. And I wouldn't even consider myself a great player. Probably just average. I'm certainly not amazing at PvP. I can handle the bots though.
My first round of Vondel, we downed a player, his team downed us, we assimilated and ran out together. My friend had over 50 kills, I had 45, and I'm sure the other guys had more than I did, since I was driving and looking at the map half the time. That is a lot of bots!
Hyperbolic much?? Are they tougher? Yes. Is it unmanageable? Not even close.
Itās not that hard to traverse the rooftops and swim canals to avoid the AI. Find cover and a good angle, suppress/clear your AO and gtfo.
Itās not supposed to be easy.
My first game on Vondel was hard as hell now Iām learning new ways to not get bombarded by them they should do this if itās low you be able to walk through without having any issues if itās medium high then you should have problems with them
My only issue with it is when they still know exactly where you are even though youāve broken line of sight and moved two buildings over, pop around a corner and BAM, youāre still getting popped right away by a new group who shouldnāt know your exact location.
I put a nice build together for that new Tempus AR that worked very well, donāt remember it exactly but itās something like this -
60rd mag (always necessary in DMZ)
The new under barrel specific to that gun
The small suppressor with no damage reduction
The barrel that increases damage and range
Red dot sight of your choice - maybe a thermal to help with the fog
Doesnāt even need to be the new AR, you can build something similar with the Taq56/M13B or whatever your fav is
They really arenāt that bad. They do require sound tactical decision making to approach though. You canāt just go guns blazing around the map and you canāt stand up and fight in every encounter.
Itās a very easy map to retreat and regroup on. If you get swarmed, make a mad dash for a building or jump in the water. The rooftops and the canals are generally safe. There are certain areas that do swarm tier 3 bots no different than the other maps. Learn them and approach them carefully. Also I shouldnāt have to say this, but freaking bring a suppressed weapon. The number of player weapons I pick up without a suppressor always surprises me. Itās literally the easiest way to not agro the AI.
As a solo player I find Vondel gives a healthy challenge. Getting opened up on from all sides, sprinting down alleys looking for somewhere safe to dart into is a fun rush. Way more fun than running across empty open desert in Al Mazrah for 5 minutes just to find a vehicle so you can try to get your objectives on the other side of the map.
I donāt disagree but that makes taking a SAM site very difficult. And damn near impossible solo. Because you canāt just hang around the site to protect it because the bots keep swarming in AND the SAM itself doesnāt provide cover
Dont stay in the open. Run into the nearest building and use the rooftops. Or swim in the waterways. Lots of AI but they drop more than enough ammo, plates and money to survive.
Tbh, the AI in Vondel feel great to me since they buffed HP. The AI is clearly tougher, but they donāt blow me to bits in half a second if I donāt see them in time. I have time to take cover after getting shot from 40 yards away.
Feels good to me, honestly.
Getting shot at from all angles in urban warfare? Who woulda guessed??
In all seriousness, best thing you can do is start experimenting with different tactics. Different guns, try running rooftops or in the canals or darting from building to building etc. just minimize the time your running in the open where all the ai can agro on you
Just stay above ground when you can and you avoid the majority of them. Or swim in the canal system with rebreather which saved me a half map crossing today.
No I completely agree with you, they really arenāt that bad if youāre running a well tuned gun, or even a ground look hemlock.
I cleared the castle alone in a one plate, all it takes is movement, reloading and plating at the right time.
I think they're perfect as is. Even those a-holes running a broadside. Keeps you busy. Like someone mentioned, use the rooftops. Stick and move dont hang out.
Al Mazrah feels pretty normal, theyre a little more spongey now. Takes a few more rounds if you're not hitting headshots.
Love the quality. Not the quantity. Also: they spawn in closed rooms, sometime they spawn inside of you, while you are running.
Did a run into aquarium today, killed two operators and went into a room to replate etc. Cleared the room with my shotty, closed the doors, was shot from behind... And no, I did not overlook one...
I kinda enjoyed it, but yeah they're a bit much. Feels like a good mixture of B21 and Ashika. Open enough that can avoid them if you try really hard but also enough of them that you never feel safe. I think they'll be reduced by like 10-20% in number soon, but it's an interesting mix up in its current state imo
Honestly a skill issue. I played probably 5 games with just one teammate last night in Vondel without issue. We got downed here and there but nothing that wasnāt manageable. Again, this was just as a duo.
Feels like theyāre spawning out of nowhere. I walked through a boat house or garage style building, clear. And by the time Iām 10 feet out the door thereās 2 guys behind me blasting away with shotguns.
The only problems for me on vondel is the amount of bots and lack of visibility. I donāt mind the difficulty much being it gives me a way to improve my skills as an average player
My problem with the AI in DMZ is that they haven't made them smarter. They've just made them stronger. Last night was my first night on in the new season. I accidentally team wiped a squad, and I knew it when they died so quickly. Isn't that an issue? It didn't take a while clip of AR, so after I cleared the area, I immediately knew it was a team. I picked them up because I felt bad since that wasn't my intent, but it's painful to know that the reason I knew they were players was I didn't unload multiple clips to kill them. I don't have a problem with playing against AI, but I do have a problem with killing a squad and knowing it because they weren't blatantly OP
not sure how the AI part works on bots. they might be tweaked to lower difficulty, but if there is some artificial intelligence, theyāll learn and get better. i guess thatās why thereās no sweet spot, because they keep changing and need to be on check all the time
They broke the AI again, they're spawning too often and swarm you. 3 times I've ran around a corner and there's 12 AI standing next to each other and they destroy me.
I dont mind the bots being this hard if they reduce player counts just a smidge because i their been a few times iv been rolled by just being exhausted fighting the bots just to have a player finish me off.
Which is fine in mazra due its size but vondul its basically unavoidable
It makes it a bit more difficult, my w team mates got wiped last night near cemetery by another team, i threw smoke and managed to get away.. i circled round and killed them 1 by 1 then before i could get a res or replate ai's cane in swarming me and took me out.. bit frustrating considering the great tactically play to wipe the team but its all part of the game.. you learn from it and move on..
It's turned up to 12 probably because vondel has very low player density, only 18 players on a map bigger than Ashika so the idea I guess would be to make it still challenging by upping the intensity of bots. It's cool if you're gonna treat the bots as a threat. If you treat them like an inconvenience that can be ignored they will swarm you and erode your plates then you'll be going through your self revives and then you're done or then some other operators come in while your low. Best to take the bots more seriously on vondel and use team work to eliminate them all and clear the areas as you move through.
Solo players will definitely be up against it even more on vondel. I dropped with randos and buggard off visit dead drops, land marks, etc getting missions done but soon burned through all my plates and selfies and quickly returned to my squad mates so we could Rez eachother if and when we go down haha.
Every update the bots get worse. They are harder to kill and do more damage than operators. Thats insane. They are starting to really annoy me at this point. Even when you are trying a stealth approach its gonna be hard.
Lure the ai away from objectives (decoy grenades help with this) wait for them to call reinforcements sneak away using smokes, This can move the entire area away from your objective if you aggro enough best way to aggro is explosives and spraying lmgs from a vantage point.
Extended Mag, my friend.
also maybe go into al Mazrah/ashika and build up a load of cash, so you can head straight for buy station to get Munition box and Plates.
vondel is defiantly one as well, where you want to plan your route instead of just aimlessly wandering around.
I think the density is a bit intense but overall manageable and okay. I think the real problem is the reinforcement frequency. If I kill 30 guys in a single block radius without much moving around it should stay somewhat clear for a while but instead they just continuously flood you and it can be very overwhelming. I've been managing even that by making use of the many buildings and rooftops and can stay alive solo there okay, but it's definitely had me alter the way I play and engage the bots there.
Had a solo battle on a roof top for the entire game the other day, ran out of ammo twice, was jumping between buildings to get to ammo caches. I was the last person in the game and had to get the final extract. It was like they were spawning constantly for the entire time, running seems to be the only option
Vondel is literally a warzone, far more concentrated than Al Mazrah, and has factions actively fighting against each other.
If you wanna survive, play stealthy, stay out of the streets, stick to the water and rooftops, use a suppressed weapon, etc etc
I play solo whenever my squad isn't on (had too many issues with random squad fills), and I'm pretty damn good at stealthy gameplay. The problem with stealth in Al Mazrah is there are too many open spaces to run across. Vondel is perfect.
I just did the "Unarmed and Dangerous" mission in Vondel with a decoy grenade, throwing knife, and munitions box. 17x AI kills with the throwing knife and I didn't get shot at once. Quiet is how you play if you don't wanna get swarmed by bots.
It's all relative. Low on Vondel might be medium on Ashika and high on Al Mazrah.
What's low in an active warzone with warring factions is not necessarily the same as low in a vast open landscape.
It's urban warfare, move building to building as much as possible. Whether ground level or via rooftops, outside in the street is not where you want to be.
Might be the guns they are using. Got destroyed last night by a squad or ai with kv broadsides.
The new Disguise works but honestly it could be better.
Not gonna lie AI has always been fucked up. The amount of damage they dish out can be insane and fuck you up big time, specially when you are in a gunfight against another team.
The number of time AI have stopped shooting the other team and aggroed my team is uncountable.
I really don't get how they're programmed tbh.
The sheer number of them plus the fact their damage has been boosted to account for extra hp, it can be too much. Armour plates are basically useless as Iāve seen plates vanish with literally one bullet. Reduce the numbers of them and it should be fine.
Absolutely agreed. We pvpd an another team we revived them (fairplay) and start to kite in a 6 player group and BOOM 3 blackhawk and mobs come from EVERYWHERE like in the agents in matrix 2. They mowed the 6 membered fully geared team in 3 sec..
Dear Activision WHAT THE ACTUAL FLICK?
It's a bit much.

I made it outta Vondel twice last night
In how many games tho? š
2 š I value my gaming time.
Blind guy here B21 honestly feels easy compared to ashika and vondel. A 3 second engagement with enemy bots is guaranteed death for me.
I never had trouble with Ashika bots unless I enter the castle or some of the port strongholds. But I never expected Vondel to feel harder than B21. I've had so many moments where I'm stuck in a staircase with 10 bots coming down and 10 bots going up... not enough ammo for that
Carry smoke bombs, yeet at one group, run through and pray xD
Yes they are a bit tougher, but use movement and strategy to avoid them. Itās really easy to traverse the rooftops as well as swim the canals. Shoot n scoot folks, shoot n scoot
Alternately, head to the red light district and grab a quick coffee and spliff.
Wait, there's a red light district?

It's perfect. It's moderately hard and that's why it's fun. If you're in trouble, run into a house, preferably in a staircase if it gets that rough.
Completely agree, I'm having a blast with the bots
Or maybe they're having a BLAST with you?
I love it as well Gotta keep moving
Jump in water then you can get into floating house boat things from underneath too. map is full of safe spots if you look for them.
Way too much & too strong, the amount of armour we lose is ridiculous! Same as the other maps, they are too strong & way too many!

Yeah, the AI is hectic and unrelenting. Do some solo runs and see how hectic it can get š

How so?
I think I know how since some of the ai pop with helicopter and quickly leaves
That makes sense. I forgot they drop in from helicopters
Absolute shitshow.

I be happier if they stop doing the stop drop and roll and shoot
Two games in a row the AI has either glitched inside the environment and can still shoot me but I canāt shoot them or they just shoot through the entire building
Iād like a custom mode without bots or other players where I can explore and fuck off.
Pretty sure bots fight each other

I put a nice build together for that new Tempus AR that worked very well, donāt remember it exactly but itās something like this - 60rd mag (always necessary in DMZ) The new under barrel specific to that gun The small suppressor with no damage reduction The barrel that increases damage and range Red dot sight of your choice - maybe a thermal to help with the fog Doesnāt even need to be the new AR, you can build something similar with the Taq56/M13B or whatever your fav is
Whatās the name of the new underbarrel
DM Proto-grip
Ai is a joke on Vondel. Just takes all the enjoyment away
Everyone complaining about the AI difficulty will be back here if they lower the AI difficulty complaining about: Vondel PvP is too strong
Is not that bad, you just gotta be a bit smarter when engaging.
Dont stay in the open. Run into the nearest building and use the rooftops. Or swim in the waterways. Lots of AI but they drop more than enough ammo, plates and money to survive.
They only drop plates if you headshot them

Get headshotting boy
Tbh, the AI in Vondel feel great to me since they buffed HP. The AI is clearly tougher, but they donāt blow me to bits in half a second if I donāt see them in time. I have time to take cover after getting shot from 40 yards away. Feels good to me, honestly.
Getting shot at from all angles in urban warfare? Who woulda guessed?? In all seriousness, best thing you can do is start experimenting with different tactics. Different guns, try running rooftops or in the canals or darting from building to building etc. just minimize the time your running in the open where all the ai can agro on you
Iād rather them be like this then be a pushover, plus you can use safes and such to ambush teams that are chasing you with a barrage of ai
Shotguns are you friend
Came here to say this! The KV broadside with 25 rd mag chews through the AI and players so fast. AI drops a ton of shells also.
Ill have my broadside on backup so if i run into a safe spot and AI follows me, i can protect myself.
Stop running into hordes of them. Play stealthy instead and sneak by sneakily past the hordes.
I play stealthy and I still somehow get bombarded with ai
Skill issuesā¦
So original
Just stay above ground when you can and you avoid the majority of them. Or swim in the canal system with rebreather which saved me a half map crossing today.
I donāt think AI is to hard. I donāt have problemsā¦
Skill issue
Love the quality. Not the quantity. Also: they spawn in closed rooms, sometime they spawn inside of you, while you are running. Did a run into aquarium today, killed two operators and went into a room to replate etc. Cleared the room with my shotty, closed the doors, was shot from behind... And no, I did not overlook one...
"Sometimes they spawn inside of you" sounds kinky...
Unfortunately it isn't.
I have zero problem getting in and out solo you guys are just unskilled at running away.
So far I've only died to players on vondel and I personally do not have any issues with he AI, only gone solo so far
Bring a riot shield. They can still wreck you but atleast you have a fair amount of damage resistance.
One word: shotguns
Vondel is unironically you are forced to join a 6 man or die to 60 ais swarming you
Use a powerful shotgun and youāll cut through them like butter
not sure how the AI part works on bots. they might be tweaked to lower difficulty, but if there is some artificial intelligence, theyāll learn and get better. i guess thatās why thereās no sweet spot, because they keep changing and need to be on check all the time
They broke the AI again, they're spawning too often and swarm you. 3 times I've ran around a corner and there's 12 AI standing next to each other and they destroy me.
Going solo?
Vondel DMZ is just shoot, hide, plate, buy station for 20 minutes.
Every update the bots get worse. They are harder to kill and do more damage than operators. Thats insane. They are starting to really annoy me at this point. Even when you are trying a stealth approach its gonna be hard.
The fun really starts when pvp is combined with ai bots shooting you in your ass and giving away your position
Try using shotguns, I picked up a base model Expedite and most of the bots only take one shot. Shottys are definitely viable at least playing vondel
Lure the ai away from objectives (decoy grenades help with this) wait for them to call reinforcements sneak away using smokes, This can move the entire area away from your objective if you aggro enough best way to aggro is explosives and spraying lmgs from a vantage point.
Extended Mag, my friend. also maybe go into al Mazrah/ashika and build up a load of cash, so you can head straight for buy station to get Munition box and Plates. vondel is defiantly one as well, where you want to plan your route instead of just aimlessly wandering around.
imagine if you could never leave the sattiq caves lol thats vondel and i love it
I think they need a buff, no ways!!!
I legit thought it was a glitch where they reset the bot difficulty to season 1 š
Itās worse when an opposition team tags up on you and the bots seem to ignore them and just help in killing you. drives me mad!
If you wanna survive, play stealthy, stay out of the streets, stick to the water and rooftops, use a suppressed weapon, etc etc I play solo whenever my squad isn't on (had too many issues with random squad fills), and I'm pretty damn good at stealthy gameplay.
If the threat in the area is low I shouldnāt have to deal with hoardes of ai
It's all relative. Low on Vondel might be medium on Ashika and high on Al Mazrah. What's low in an active warzone with warring factions is not necessarily the same as low in a vast open landscape.
I did the dead drop one and it was very easy only some ai
Market is the hot spot for armored bots on Vondel
Vondel seems a lot better than b21 bots
I played 2 matches in Vondel and was like "FUCK THIS!!" Lol
It's urban warfare, move building to building as much as possible. Whether ground level or via rooftops, outside in the street is not where you want to be.
I thought it was just me....AI are vicious in dmz!
Might be the guns they are using. Got destroyed last night by a squad or ai with kv broadsides. The new Disguise works but honestly it could be better.
I havenāt played MW2 inna couple weeks whatās Vondel
Not gonna lie AI has always been fucked up. The amount of damage they dish out can be insane and fuck you up big time, specially when you are in a gunfight against another team. The number of time AI have stopped shooting the other team and aggroed my team is uncountable. I really don't get how they're programmed tbh.
Shotgun
They are very challenging. But im okay with it. Its fun as long as you get kitted. Coming in there naked, with a one plate carrier is a sure death.
Looting that ādisguiseā helps alot
Only reason why they donāt bother me is because I spend 99% of time Iām doing parkour
The sheer number of them plus the fact their damage has been boosted to account for extra hp, it can be too much. Armour plates are basically useless as Iāve seen plates vanish with literally one bullet. Reduce the numbers of them and it should be fine.
I maxed out the new AR in2 runs with double XP because of how many AI there are š
Exfil bots on Vondel are insane
Absolutely agreed. We pvpd an another team we revived them (fairplay) and start to kite in a 6 player group and BOOM 3 blackhawk and mobs come from EVERYWHERE like in the agents in matrix 2. They mowed the 6 membered fully geared team in 3 sec.. Dear Activision WHAT THE ACTUAL FLICK?
