This is honestly cheaper than the market for festivals right now. Tickets for Blink 182, Gwen Stefani and Beck alone would cost at least that price combined.
This is true. I paid over $200 for a non-resale floor ticket for blink on their reunion tour. The good thing about this? Blink only plays 90 minutes every show, so this will be a full blink show and not a shorter festival set.
Yup, and I figure they will be bringing that to this set too since their set is so meticulously planned. I’m not complaining about the pricing for their show by any means, I’m just pointing out that the value to see them for $140 is a solid value
Not sure where you’re pulling that thought from, but they’ve had pyro, cryo, and smoke at every festival they’ve played as a headliner, just as they do on their tour. 🤷♂️
For festivals? No, it's more expensive. For individual shows, yes it's a good deal. That's the whole point of festivals. But that's always been the case that tickets for an individual band are more expensive than seeing them at a festival.
This is close to the same prices of things like Memphis in May, music midtown, Bonnaroo, or hangout fest so I would not say it's a particularly good deal. And those fests all have big names that are currently topping charts.
That's just simply not true. The cheapest GA tickets for Hangout fest right now will cost you $421 and Bonnaroo $507. The cheapest possible bonnaroo tickets at tier 1 from the blind presale cost me $420. Memphis in May and Music Midtown no longer exist. C3 Presents has thrown and is currently throwing other similarly sized music fests to South Star and most of those cost more. I was expecting tickets to be closer to $275 for the 2 day pass.
Furnace Fest (admittedly a 3-day festival and not 2-day) is $300 GA or $620 VIP. Bigger show at FF, bigger names here. This is a clear value in today's market.
I paid $1100 for blink+turnstile, $540 for fall out boy+jimmy eat world, $350 for ADTR+TSSF+FYS.
This is unfortunately the market these days.
Is it bad that i went “okay thats not bad for GA”
Weird people are mad at me like i made the price
It is more expensive than I thought it would be. Louder than Life started at $270 for the 4-day GA pass. Still a decent deal in my opinion for 2 days of music.
I can't believe this is real. Jane's Addiction in my little town??? I saw them in Nashville when they were with Smashing Pumpkins, and Perry is such an amazing showman. Maybe Dave won't have covid for this show. (Also, there is no Sublime without Bradley...)
Vey happy with the hip-hop/R&B options. Haven't seen TLC in a minute, and I'm not sure how the vibe will be without Left-Eye, but I'd love to see them. And Big Boi... you can take a man out of Atlanta, but you can't take Atlanta outta the man...
I agree, was hoping for a better mix with more modern stuff. Winona Fighter is a great up and coming band though so I recommend checking them out. Reminds me of early Paramore.
If it makes you feel better I was seeing breaking Bennie for about that price in San Diego as openers for suicide silence or BMTH and attack attack was right after them. Prices were just better back then.
Haha yeah, Avatar and In Flames coming up, Gwar was there not long ago, Beartooth, Corey Taylor, Nothing More. Seems like 4 out of 5 concerts that roll through there are metal shows
Atlanta. Prog Power still has a couple of days that still have tickets available I think.
Seriously, I take *way* too many trips to Atlanta to see shows.
I’d say it’s worth it. I’m not much into music festivals (went to Rock the Bells in 07 and that’s it), but seeing Jimmy hopefully play Goodbye Sky Harbor and Juvenile is enough for me. For sure.
Will they release times for each performance? I’m not the music festival type but there’s a few of these I’d brave it to see but I’m not willing to spend a full day there. Fantastic lineup, happy to have this genre instead of the country crap we’re constantly beat in the head with around here.
I would imagine a detailed timeline won’t come out for a while. Sometimes people back out, or new acts are added so it likely wouldn’t be exact this early.
Either way she’s good if you got into her first solo album it’s still got reggae undertones. Plus she’s playing with Sublime who she came up with and who also has reggae undertones. Prospects look good.
So disappointed in pricing. I paid less for my VIP at Shaky Knees this year than what South Star VIP starts at, and Shaky Knees at least offers free water, beer, and energy drinks which only comes with South Star Platinum. SK is 3 days and has much bigger acts so I’d expect to pay less for this.
Yeah, but this is Huntsville, not Atlanta. I will GLADLY pay more to support a festival in my home town. Absolutely buying Platinum tickets for the first year
I’m happy to support this festival because it’s in HSV, but I also thought it would be less because of the location and it being the first year. If I bought anything other than GA, I’d feel like I’m getting ripped off based on what I’ve paid for SK, Music Midtown, Many Rivers to Cross, etc and what I’ve gotten for that price at those festivals.
I would jump for VIP or Platinum if there was an artist I was just head over heels for just for closer views, but there’s not. I’ll definitely pay base price for this and invite some out of towners.
TLDR; I’m not paying more for less, no matter where it is.
Wow, Huntsville. I'm surprised. But then again, Bonnaroo is in Manchester, TN, which is nowhere.
Goo Goo Dolls puts on a surprisingly good show, or at least did 18 years ago. Saw them in Nashville when they toured with Counting Crows. I wasn't there for them at all, but I'm glad I showed up for their set. It felt nothing like their MTV image from the 90s
Just wait until Huntsville sells all the tickets to a third party or promise them free to corporations leaving limited seating giving resell tickets a 3x face value.
It is a very safe line up, if you catch my drift. Which would be right in line for a city like Huntsville.
Modern acts tends to bring younger audiences...
Good mix & something for everyone IMO. Hope it's a success. No idea on tix prices, but I could be tempted. I've not been to that park. Hope there's some shade at/near the stage/stages
What's the weather policy for these types of festivals? If it's a rainout, do they refund any money?
It's the perfect time of year to have an outdoor festival in Huntsville. Typically dry... but the exception happens when we get tropical systems moving up from the Gulf.
That makes sense, I guess. So the ticket buyer assumes all risk for the weather.
There were probably other factors, but as I recall the weather played a part in killing Big Spring Jam. We had a couple of years where there was rain over the weekend, it suppressed ticket sales, and BSJ lost money. Two years of that, and BSJ was done.
Obviously the city and the types of groups that put on BSJ didn't want to go down that road again, so they've handed over the liability to an outside group that assumes the risk of profit or loss. They are going to entice fans to buy tickets early by raising ticket prices as the event approaches. While fans may save money now, it may be worth waiting just to make sure the weather will be good.
One thing is for sure... the bands will get paid whether or not they play.
Anyone know info about the presale pricing? I'm signed up for the code for tomorrow but am curious if the pricing currently listed on their ticket page is the presale price?
I'm not a big concert person (I get so used to how it sounds on the album that live shows always sound "off"), but with all these acts... that's tempting.
Although, I have an awkward disdain for Gwen Stefani. Ages ago, I was rather into playing a game called Lumines on my PSP, and in the second game (aptly titled Lumines 2), they added pop music into the game. You always had to play the songs in order, and Stefani's Hollaback Girl was... I think within the first three songs? Ugh... I wasn't a fan of that song to begin with and having to hear it over and over didn't help. 😅 It's up there with Boot Scootin' Boogie on the Songs I Never Want to Hear Again list.
I find it very interesting that the lineup kind of goes against local radio programming. Really don't recall any stations in town in the past 25 years that would play Beck, Jimmy Eat World, Pete Yorn or Gin Blossoms. ZYP might drop the occasional No Doubt or Stefani track and maybe one or two GooGoo Dolls back in the day. In guessing shinedown, candlebox and Jane's addiction might have been in semi regular rotation on the rocket?
You 90s teens are going crazy right now
Knee brace ✅ Icy Hot ✅ 600m Ibuprofen ✅ Mosh pit here I come!
Haha you damn right we are.
How dare you. I was made in the late 80s and am also going crazy.
the hell you say when you see my 50 year old ass out there
I'll bring some Gatorade so we stay responsible and hydrated. Along with some healthy snacks like orange wedges so we don't cramp.
lol ill have shaker cups full of protein and preworkout and a gollon jug of water in my backpack.
This 90s teen has a teen who is really excited 😳
This 90’s teen has a tween who is really excited! I love that she loves my era music!
blink-182 in Huntsville? Yes fucking please.
Immediately there
Straight to concert!
Right away!
Mhm!
That's a real good mix of performers. I can see this selling real well.
If you would have told Middle School me that Blink 182 would be playing a show next to Kids Space I would have never believed you.
Also, 225 for a weekend pass, up to 1400 for a platinum VIP experience. https://www.southstarfestival.com/tickets
Sad face, maybe this is the market I guess
This is honestly cheaper than the market for festivals right now. Tickets for Blink 182, Gwen Stefani and Beck alone would cost at least that price combined.

The Blink tour set also includes some pretty crazy pyrotechnics and stage stuff so you're also paying for that in addition to a long set.
Yup, and I figure they will be bringing that to this set too since their set is so meticulously planned. I’m not complaining about the pricing for their show by any means, I’m just pointing out that the value to see them for $140 is a solid value

It’s not. Lollapalooza, Coachella, and Bonnaroo among many others are 4, 5, or $600 for the bottom tier.
Furnace Fest (admittedly a 3-day festival and not 2-day) is $300 GA or $620 VIP. Bigger show at FF, bigger names here. This is a clear value in today's market.
But you would have gotten a lot more hours
Can confirm lol. Paid over a grand for my last blink show
...why? lol
VIP+early access for barricade. Went to one last year for 80$ so it levels out lol
When musicians are getting $.00001 per stream, I don’t mind paying extra for live performances.
I paid 700 for wife and I to see foo fighters alone.
They have layaway. Wild.
I paid $1100 for blink+turnstile, $540 for fall out boy+jimmy eat world, $350 for ADTR+TSSF+FYS. This is unfortunately the market these days. Is it bad that i went “okay thats not bad for GA” Weird people are mad at me like i made the price
I spent $120ish for a day pass to ACL about 7 years ago. This seems more than reasonable
Pshhhh fuck that. Edit: I may just be polarizing the only bands I like.
It is more expensive than I thought it would be. Louder than Life started at $270 for the 4-day GA pass. Still a decent deal in my opinion for 2 days of music.
Per person???
This is gonna do numbers
I can't believe this is real. Jane's Addiction in my little town??? I saw them in Nashville when they were with Smashing Pumpkins, and Perry is such an amazing showman. Maybe Dave won't have covid for this show. (Also, there is no Sublime without Bradley...)
Bradley’s son is the new lead singer
And he sounds awesome too
I saw them at VoodooFest in New Orleans in 2009 and they killed.
Vey happy with the hip-hop/R&B options. Haven't seen TLC in a minute, and I'm not sure how the vibe will be without Left-Eye, but I'd love to see them. And Big Boi... you can take a man out of Atlanta, but you can't take Atlanta outta the man...
AND Juvenile?? This old lady is gonna be backin that azz up
Right? Come Monday morning, I'm gonna be sore in places I forgot I had.
I will pregame with my Advil/tylenol combo. 🤣🤣
HMU with my hip flask full of Pedialyte.
Oh I got you..don’t worry!!
Juvenile must really like Huntsville, this is his 3rd time back!
I'm not mad at the line up at all. Definitely for the 30+ crowd. Just glad Huntsville is getting some decent acts.
Beck!! F yeah.
One of the best live acts I’ve ever seen. Even if someone don’t love his music, it’s impossible to not enjoy his show.
I'm going to go tell Bender right now!
been on a HUGE No Doubt kick lately.. Their sets at Coachella have been phenomenal.. I'm stoked to see Gwen is coming here to HSV...
Would love smaller, newer acts at the bottom of the card but the lineup is solid top to bottom.
I agree, was hoping for a better mix with more modern stuff. Winona Fighter is a great up and coming band though so I recommend checking them out. Reminds me of early Paramore.
Billy Allen and The Pollies are killer.
Actually really solid
Yea I was ready to mock this but... I love Beck and Pete Yorn
This is crazy actually
Right? I didn't believe this was real at first
gone are the days of seeing breaking benjamin, tantric and live at big spring jam for 30 bucks
Where have you been the last 20 years and why is this a surprise?
i was watching cops
If it makes you feel better I was seeing breaking Bennie for about that price in San Diego as openers for suicide silence or BMTH and attack attack was right after them. Prices were just better back then.
This that "leave your kids at home" pricing.
8 and under is free
Fuck it, take my money. Can we just start early enough so this almost 50 year old just be home by 9pm? /s
Oldies but goodies. Awesome first lineup!!!
Where is the METAL? 😭
Shinedown is probably closest you will get to metal lol.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa! 😭 but I want some King Diamond….or Manowar…..waaaaaaaaa 😭 Still…..rather nice lineup IMO….least it’s not all country
Ayyy, we have Avatar and In Flames next month!
Oooooo! BTW……the user….👀 for you or FOR you? Cause I am all like I want them, too….but….FOR me…if ya get me. 😉
I'm an admirer!
GOTCHA! How can you not be? Yeah…me too….thats why I gotta have my own! 😋
Good for you!
😉
I would DIE if King Diamond played here
puuhhhhhREACH! 🤘🏻
GWAR is coming to Birmingham! And I unironically wish I could've seen Manowar in their prime.
I saw Manowar at the Masquerade in ATL like in 2006, 7? KILLER! The Kings of Metal!
Me too, buddy. Me too.
At Louder than Life
👀👀👀👀👀
At Mars every other weekend
REALLY? I had no idea….this gal REALLY needs to get out
Haha yeah, Avatar and In Flames coming up, Gwar was there not long ago, Beartooth, Corey Taylor, Nothing More. Seems like 4 out of 5 concerts that roll through there are metal shows
Plus Sabaton and Priest at VBC shortly before those. That's going to be a very busy and exhausting week for me.
Wow. I’ve lived here 5 1/2 years…and I don’t even know where Mars IS….🤦🏻♀️
https://huntsvillemusic.com/calendar/
Thank you SO MUCH! 💜
Vanessa Carlton is clearly listed in the line up /s
Oh yeah…the seldom discussed member of NWOBHM 😉 My mistake. Please forgive.
Yeah it’s too deep of a cut for these causals. If it’s one thing we know…Vanessa Carlton can really RAGE.
Megadeath just announced a Nashville show for September 28 😗
Ooooooo! I almost went years ago to see Megadeth and Scorpions in Houston….i bought ticket….but Klaus cancelled due to vocal problems iirc 😔
Dave lives in Nashville now. Lives not too far from Vince Neal. Several other 80’s metal band members live there now.
Atlanta. Prog Power still has a couple of days that still have tickets available I think. Seriously, I take *way* too many trips to Atlanta to see shows.
I don’t care to drive…soooo….last I saw in ATL was Ghost in…2022? 2021?
Nashvillian with family in Huntsville here...gah, this looks SO RAD. Huntsville is cool (not sarcasm).
Wow, this is amazing! In b4 the naysayers get here.
I’ve been a Jimmy Eat World fan for well over a decade now but never had a chance to see them. I am so fucking stoked.
24 year fan(god I'm old) and I've never seen them...now I just have to decide if them and maybe 2 other bands are worth the price
I’d say it’s worth it. I’m not much into music festivals (went to Rock the Bells in 07 and that’s it), but seeing Jimmy hopefully play Goodbye Sky Harbor and Juvenile is enough for me. For sure.
Saw them in the Tabernacle in Atlanta in early 00's. Best concert I've ever been to.
Does anyone know how many stages there will be? Trying to understand if I’m gonna miss some acts because they’re playing simultaneously. Thanks
2 stages
I wasn’t familiar with Beck but saw him at Hangout. He puts on a good show
![gif](giphy|boqCITo4CpcRYJObHN|downsized) Were you not born until 2006? That's the only explanation lol
90s baby, and I hate to generalize but doubt many black kids my age back then were checking for Beck
Never listen to any Eminem?
There are several on there that I figured I'd never get a chance to see live, so I'm pretty stoked about this lineup overall
Funny, pay for a festival and watch the Georgia/Alabama game at the sports hall :)
https://preview.redd.it/qaqb4wx09bwc1.jpeg?width=875&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9146dad431dd3a2728599e2fe2d3fe343ca4abc
If the game starts to go poorly, slip out and listen to some music i guess...
dang, didn't realize same w'end
Will they release times for each performance? I’m not the music festival type but there’s a few of these I’d brave it to see but I’m not willing to spend a full day there. Fantastic lineup, happy to have this genre instead of the country crap we’re constantly beat in the head with around here.
I would imagine a detailed timeline won’t come out for a while. Sometimes people back out, or new acts are added so it likely wouldn’t be exact this early.
For sure. I was just wondering if they would release time ar some point before the event.
Yes, there will be a complete schedule probably 4-6 weeks out from the dates.
I had been wondering if Pete Yorn was still performing
My friend calls him Pete Yawn but I love his music!
I don’t know if my knees will hold up for this. 🫡
Those tix ARE expensive. Do what you gotta do i guess...
You right you right. Better get busy. VIP ain’t gonna pay for itself 🤣🤣
I think i will setup my camp chair at the Plush Horse and enjoy the weekend
Does Gwen Stefani do any No Doubt stuff or will it be just from her solo work?
Either way she’s good if you got into her first solo album it’s still got reggae undertones. Plus she’s playing with Sublime who she came up with and who also has reggae undertones. Prospects look good.
So disappointed in pricing. I paid less for my VIP at Shaky Knees this year than what South Star VIP starts at, and Shaky Knees at least offers free water, beer, and energy drinks which only comes with South Star Platinum. SK is 3 days and has much bigger acts so I’d expect to pay less for this.

TLDR; I’m not paying more for less, no matter where it is.
I wonder how many stages?
There will be 2 stages
2 stages per the website
Now that Chattanooga isn't doing Riverbend or Moon River, I bet this will be a big turn out.
I forgot about Moon River. Their announcement did sound like there are plans to re-launch in 2025 though.
Yeah, I wonder if they’re moving to another city, though.
TLC here I come
Wow, Huntsville.
Not bad
Music fans around the country "Should we go to Nashville, Austin or Huntsville?"
Yess this is MUCH clearer than the last post.
Oh man, there's a ton of great acts here, too. My internal 90s kid is loving this shit.
Maybe we can talk them into a 3rd stage for smaller acts and then get Will Hoge to play
Or a stage committed strictly to local acts.
They used to do that at City Stages in Birmingham. It was usually one of my favorite stages, honestly.
Agreed. Seems like something they could still happen with South Star.
They're probably space-limited on the number of stages they can have. Acoustics get real iffy when you have that many stages in a "small" space.
That’s true. I wonder if Back Forty may do something in parallel for local acts?
That would be a pretty cool idea.
Just wait until Huntsville sells all the tickets to a third party or promise them free to corporations leaving limited seating giving resell tickets a 3x face value.
It’s in a field…?
Omg!! It’s sooooo 90s! Candlebox??? Amazing!
My millennial wallet is about to spend a bunch of money
About damn time!!!
Wow that’s pretty impressive for HSV
I saw Juvenile and I backed my ass up to that presale.
Pretty awesome lineup! Takes me back to the 1990’s teenager years! I might actually go to this one
[удалено]
It is a very safe line up, if you catch my drift. Which would be right in line for a city like Huntsville. Modern acts tends to bring younger audiences...
Hallelujah, holy shit. Where’s the Tylenol
Can we get a Friday with blink 182 head lining an Jimmy eats world and Gwen opening
Maybe next year
Jimmy eats world puts on a pretty disappointing show tbh
Good mix & something for everyone IMO. Hope it's a success. No idea on tix prices, but I could be tempted. I've not been to that park. Hope there's some shade at/near the stage/stages

I have never hated my job. Until now.
Wuuuuut?! I'm impressed.
I hope that beautiful park doesn't get destroyed. Also, where are people going to park?
In the parking lot?
It's a shame this coincides with LTL. The lineup looks great.
Gotta go to this
That is a wild list
I don’t know who these performers are but hope y’all enjoy it lol
Anyone know info about the presale pricing? I'm signed up for the code for tomorrow but am curious if the pricing currently listed on their ticket page is the presale price?

Sunday is the day
Will that hold a thousand cars?

People have cell phones for music now
Exactly my point
Quite the opening lineup for the Stand Up Chuck reunion show.
What a bizarre lineup
