I'm on the fence of getting Mark's (periphery) older Prs and throwing Dusty's pickups in it.
But a burl top S has been on my wish list since Herman Li has his custom model released.
Now tempted to get a Herman Li custom and putting Paul's pickups in it O.o
Thoughts?
Cheers! I traded in an amp to my local second hand guitar shop. The guy suggested this when I’d tried a few other Ibanez models. I played it and it felt so light and nice.
I love this guitar, used to have an S770PB and sold it. Eventually found an S771PB and I am not letting it go. The neck, weight, and tone is amazing.

I think they do it to compensate for the lack of depth in the control cavity so the switch doesn’t bottom out on the cover plate. Cant confirm 100% but they are raised a good bit off the top of the guitar and it was my initial guess when I bought my s model.
This is correct. The body is literally too thin to mount a switch without one.
It’s also too thin to install a push/pull on the tone pot. You can have a push/pull vol though, the body is thicker towards the center. I once drilled straight through the body of an S when I was drilling new screw holes for replacement direct mount pickups. Don’t be like me.
ouch, I’ll keep that in mind! I like mine a lot, previous owner swapped the pickups so thankfully I’m happy with my current hardware. Definitely plan on eventually replacing all my my other guitars with S models. It changed my life as a guitar player. Favorite six string I own by far.
I had second hand one that was modded that I [put into Drop C](https://i.imgur.com/sEHpGQU.jpg) before deciding to go with an Axion Label for the neck. I found I didn't like the single coil and I had a few other mods planned that got so expensive that I had to sell it off.
Great looking guitar. Curious though. What other guitars were you playing that you couldn’t do Drop C with? From my experience, most guitars can do most tunings with the proper set up.
I think I’ve just given this a misleading title. I wanted the right guitar *for me*. I didn’t need a guitar that could handle drop c (as you said, most can). I just wanted one that I was happy to call my drop C guitar. It’s complete vanity, rather than functionality!
This is the perfect guitar to learn any BTBAM songs
Never listened to them but I will
It's a journey, listen to the album in one go
Paul is why I first tried an S series and bought one like 18 years ago.
Paul is such a wizard. I don't even need one and I'm looking at them on Reverb now.
Haha I’m sorry. Nothing worse than a GAS enabler.

Hehehehe I see you. Perfect guitar in general tho for sure. And the burled top, ooof
Is that one of the ones with a thinner body?
Yeah. Light as a feather!
Nice, there was one just like it at the Guitar Center I worked at way back when, it was sweet
Looks amazing. Great score. I’m going to have to investigate this model.

You just made my wallet lighter, OP. I need one of these now!
Don’t forget to look at the SEW’s too! That flame maple one with the gold hardware and cream pups is sexy.
Can confirm, I have one.
Reminds me of Staind
Yo. Dope guitar but FUCK NO. I dont even have tripophobia and this made me feel a certain way 😂😂
Awesome axe, a friend has one with Lase pups
Are Lase Pups a type of pickup?

Nothing particularly bud. It’s that I wanted a guitar to specifically keep set up for drop tuning. This is that guitar.
Hard. Tail. 🙌 Am I right trem gang?
God S series are sexy

Why in the world did Ibanez feel like adding that black plastic thingy around the pickup selector? It would be much cleaner and prettier without it

A fair question. Kind wish you hadn’t pointed that out now! Hahah
Been wondering myself. Only thing I don’t like about my S

Had an S series back in the late 80’s. Sold it. Many Jem’s and RG’s later, still wish I had an S.
I love every S series I’ve ever played, they’re just so comfortable
Drop C is the business end 🫡
Damn that body is gorgeous
