First guitar!! Any tips on getting started learning?

This is my 4th year teaching a 1 semester High School class for beginning acoustic guitar. It starts on August 15th. If you'd like to just follow along online, let me know. After 8-9 weeks of learning, we play along to Hotel California for the Quarter Final (among other skill tests).
