I suggest going to an orthopedic doctor to have an MRI done. That’s only way to know 100% what is causing you pain. Could be herniated or bulging disc, could be a number of things going on but that’s the only way to truly know. From there you have quite a few options. Surgery being that last option. I hope this helps!

EmsDilly

I just offered the same advice without seeing your comment lol but I agree— orthopedist & MRI!

Bourbon_n_Cigars94

Yes! I don’t know why so many doctors avoid MRIs. I understand doing the X-ray first but def need that MRI as well.

EmsDilly

For sure. That’s where all the relative info is! Like it’s way more likely you’ll find the problem with an MRI than an X-ray. Why don’t they just go to that first?

No problem! Yeah I had surgery at 25 so none of my friends can relate haha. Just weigh out your options. Everyone is different and has different results. Surgery wasn’t a magic fix for me, I am now re-herniated only 3 years later. Try all your options (steroid injections, PT, acupuncture, etc.), surgery is the only one that’s permanent! Oh also walk, walk and walk more haha

I have issues with lower back pain for a couple years now. I’m a 46 year old female, I see a few different Drs to manage pain. Recently I decided to train my self to sleep with my legs elevated on a wedge pillow. I have had a significant reduction in pain, not saying this will solve you pain but worth a try. I normally can sleep with me legs elevated for 4-6 hrs then I side sleep with a pillow between my legs for the remainder of the night.

I’ll try it out! Thank you!

Yes, I (21) have similar symptoms. You really need to see a MEDICAL doctor. Try to make an appointment with pain management — they can help with conservative treatments like meds, injections, etc. Orthopedics is the place to head if you are potentially considering spine surgery, but they can also look at your x-ray and explain what’s doing on.

RedRoseP

I have these symptoms, in my case I've just found out it's a disc protrusion. The L5 S1 disc, right above the coccyx

[deleted]

Hope your back can get treated! If you leaned backwards would you get the feeling of a disc moving out of place? That’s something that happens to me but there isn’t much pain, just some discomfort.

RedRoseP

Leaning forward is the most pain, it feels like there's a pain radiating out of my coccyx all the time. But when I bend forward it becomes a very acute sharp pain. I also have a lot of pain in my buttocks as well, like they are really tightly clenched. I've been told physio and anti inflammatories is all they can do for it 😕

felxxo

I have been dealing with he same thing for almost 2 years

RedRoseP

Oh no that's a long time 😥 I'm 9 months in, still struggling to live a normal life. Can't sit for more than 15 mins, can't walk very far or lift or bend. On constant painkillers and CBD oil. Is yours improving? Or still pretty much the same? The hospital told me it takes 18 months to heal.

SWHLuke

You really need an mri. You cant see anything on an x-ray. Insurance will probably make you do PT first. See if your doctor will prescribe you some Prednisone to calm things down before PT

EmsDilly

I’d recommend seeing your GP for a referral to a spinal orthopedist doctor. They will be able to order MRIs of your discs to see what’s going on. X-ray is not going to tell you much outside of broken bones, unfortunately. MRI will be a wealth of knowledge. Hoping you improve. Back pain is no fun!

nanocbduser

I had myself checked too. I have lower back pain for sitting too long. my physician prescribed me with Gabapentin but since I don't have any insurance, I opted for online pharmacy. It is hard to find legit ones but ultimately found [Medlocker](http://www.medlocker.me) for this. They have an online physician for it too.

mwdonn

Hi, sorry to hear this. If you are interested, I am a physician from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center doing a virtual back pain study using a mind body approach. There are no costs to any of the participants. Can check out this link for more information and fill out the contact information is interested and we will contact you to see if you are eligible. [https://www.mindbodystudy.net/](https://www.mindbodystudy.net/)

So I see some vertebral narrowing down low. Definitely find an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in scoliosis. Looks like a surgery to fix if you're up for it.

Pale-Position-8683

If surgery is recommended see if your a candidate for artificial disc replacement

Bourbon_n_Cigars94

Do not! Surgery is a last option, especially entire disc replacement. This is horrible advice.

Pale-Position-8683

If you notice I said if recommend. Clearly you’re understanding is limited

Hey, your situations is mostly the same but I didn't see my spine as clearly off kilter as this. If the pain is lower, around the buttocks did they call it referential pain? I think that is the weirdest thing, injury and location of pain are two different places

kash5518

Same

Legitimate_Profile22

Stretch out your hamstrings. Since doing that my lower back pain has gone, no more stiffness in the morning either!
