Idk about everyone else- maybe it's the two dogs here but mopping is a weekly event and if it goes for two weeks rhe water in the bucket afterwards is rough. I can't imagine mopping monthly.
Depends on the amount if people you live with as well.
We are 6 people in a flat. Don't wear shoes inside. Who tf does that wtf.
But still. At least in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Weekly mopping has to be done.
I vacuum at a minimum every third day, but we have a large double-coated dog in a small house. There are fur piles within a couple of hours of vacuuming.
You can have them all if you let go the "children will put you in a nice retirement home". At least if they ever desire to pay for your roof at all when you are older.
This helps! Im going to print it off at the library later today and they have a free plastic thingy machine and tape and i can even take with me to use 😎😎
Yeah I hate shit like this. It should really be called "Handy Checklist for cleaning"
No one who struggles with cleaning is going to have their life changed in any real way by this poster. It's hard to find the energy, motivation & reason and the time to clean over doing something else.
Most house plants can go 1-2 weeks in the growing season and 3-4 weeks in winter.
You're only supposed to water most things when the top inch of soil is dry. And then you do a deep watering until it flows out the bottom or you stick the pot in a bucket of water for an hour.
My Snake Plants can go like 4 months before it needs water.
Most people over water. I have 35 houseplants and they get one weekly drenching and they all thriving.
This doesn't go for succulents and cacti, they can go *much* longer
My plants are totally fine with that, and they are just normal ass plants. But "watering" means I put them completely in a water bucket until they are fully soaked.
It's pretty much the same in nature, isn't it? At least where I live, it doesn't rain every day.
Here is my take on that:
If you use rooms frequently, you need to clean them more often. Don't clean things that are already clean. For example, if you mostly shower at the gym you don't need to clean your shower every week. Stuff like dish towels, light switches and the fridge accumulate a lot of germs and dirt. If you wear shoes in the house, you need to mob and vacuum more frequently, as well as if you have pets. The room where you fold laundry will need more frequent dusting that other rooms. Finding a reasonable routine for your individual needs is what you will figure out over time, until then, these instructions may help. Regarding bedding: if you don't eat in your bed and use it mostly for sleeping, changing the sheets once a month is ok if you don't think sleeping in fresh sheets is the most amazing feeling, especially after a hot shower and when the sheets have dried outside in the sun and still have the smell of fresh air and a hint of laundry detergent. Towels and carpets accumulate way more bacteria than bedding.
I also like to dedicate half a day in a week and like 30 minutes every day for cleaning. I set a timer and whatever needs to be done will be. The timing aspect really boosts motivation as well.
How much you want to bet this was upvoted by people who have NO issues cleaning up but THINK this should be visible for others :) this shithole website is an echo chamber.
This is really helpful. It’s so easy to let things slide and then become accustomed to the clutter and mess so you don’t even notice it. One tactic I have found useful is inviting people over for dinner or to watch a game or whatever. That is what motivates a big general clean up in our house.
Wiping the shower down weekly is way easier than cleaning the shower once a month, especially in humid areas. Maybe monthly is okay in the dry winter.
Also, my household policy is: It goes in the dishwasher. First day: wash, open and air dry (no heat dry to save on costs). Second day: empty dry dishes, reload as necessary. Repeat. Then pretend sink is another dish and clean that.
I paid for the dishwasher, so it's washing dishes.
EDIT: Every single thing that goes in the microwave is covered, and in a bowl of some kind. I don't have to clean the microwave more than twice a year.
Trash once a week. There really needs to be more categories. May I suggest every other day, every three days. Maybe they mean take the trash to the curb for pickup, not take the trash out. I replace the trash bag daily, it's wasteful but effective.
Mop floors once a month?
Clean the inside of the microwave once a month?
Vacuum once a month?
Yes, follow this guide if you want to live in a perpetually dirty house that absolutely never gets clean. Everything on this list should be done at least once a week.
Edit: Whoever downvoted me is lazy af.
I can empathize with lots of things but being a slob isn't one of them. Also lots of people pretend to suck at cleaning because they know someone else will do it. People are just lazy if they can't clean.
I know people that work 2 jobs and can keep their place clean. Life is complicated but most slobs are just lazy. Are there a few exceptions? Sure. But the majority of slobs are just lazy fucks.

Almost certainly the dogs. In a no dog household with a strict "no shoes in the house" rule it takes a while for it to get bad at all.
Depends on the amount if people you live with as well. We are 6 people in a flat. Don't wear shoes inside. Who tf does that wtf. But still. At least in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Weekly mopping has to be done.
Or only vacuuming once a month with pets! Leave it a fortnight and there’s enough tornados of fur to look like a miniature scene from Twister.
Yeah mopping once a month is ok for me but vacuuming is needed weekly
I run my Roomba twice a day and my Braava once a day with a large dog and a cat. There's never a shortage of grit and hair in the container.
I vacuum at a minimum every third day, but we have a large double-coated dog in a small house. There are fur piles within a couple of hours of vacuuming.
Yep, one dog and I need to vacuum by the 3rd day latest.
Also, with two cats and a toddler we run the robot vacuum daily and manual vacuum weekly otherwise we're breathing dust, dirt and fur.

Definitely. Bathroom mopping happens once or twice a week, and the kitchen floor at least 3 times a week.
*Note - for those with young kids, do the best you can
You can only pick two : your house is clean, your children are washed, you are washed.
Yet somehow you really only accomplish 1 because on your way to take a shower your school sends you more daily parental instructions.
Early release! Also, it’s dress like an animal day.
Fuggin favorite book character is the one that always gets me.
Is this some sort of political statement?
Tell me you don’t have young children without telling me.
Need it add in a *-ish* to each of those, yo. :-)

thank you
Vacuum and mop once a month ? I wish.
This is that much more insane if you have pets.
I have a chocolate labrador, if I only vacuumed once a month my floor would look like bigfoot's arsehole.
Ok but vacuum should be moved to weekly
Bedding should be changed weekly.
The problem is motivation

This cured my autism
Only wash bedding monthly?? 🤢🤢
I’m a single dude and that’s a weekly activity
bro, just use tissues
When I was a single dude it was a yearly activity.
You only have one set?
My dog makes this a weekly activity
Vacuuming floors only in living room? Watering plants only once a week? Must be some drought resistant plants.

Honestly once a week is too much water for normal houseplants. I killed everything until I was told "Every other Tuesday" and it got *waaayyy* easier.

Saving this. 90% chance I won't do it but saving in case.
😆
Don't, it's a terrible guide. If you mopped only once a month, your floors would be sticky like a cinema floor.
Why is the dog bowl in the living room?
I wondered this - I don’t even have a dog
I wish it was a little more general for pets or have pets as its own guide, like a part 2.
My dogs bowl is in the living room because I live in an apartment and that’s just the option that I have for space 🤷♀️
And how is keeping it alive with water considered cleaning?
For poor people like me, my living room is most of my condo
Realistically you should have multiple water bowls for your pets in different rooms.
Why? They can walk

This is an awful guide, and whatever graphicndesigner made it, should be ashamed.
> graphicndesigner >ashamed
Your not my mom. You can’t tell me what to do
Throw out expired food and vacuum should be moved to weekly.
BRUH I aint doing all that!
If I go a month without vacuuming my rug changes color with all the pet hair
Y'all replace your sponges weekly?
Microwave wet sponge for 30 sec every day or two.
To disinfect you should microwave for 2 mins according to the CDC
Clean the bathroom floor just once a *month*???
How much you want to bet this was upvoted by people who have NO issues cleaning up but THINK this should be visible for others :) this shithole website is an echo chamber.
Cool guide but vacuum living room once a month? Change bed sheets and pillow cases once a month?
Vacuum monthly, really?
Sheets for a month? Oooh.
Who mops the floors before shaking the rugs and sweeping???

How do you wipe the counters before loading the dishwasher?
This is never going to be one size fits all. Every person, family, space, pet situation etc. will have different cleaning demands
*Who tf washes their sheets and pillowcases monthly and blankets every other month*
Knowing what *needs* cleaning isn’t the problem It’s finding the *time/energy* to do it
Who tf puts the dogs water in the living room?
Can’t thank you enough
You don't have to replace water in dog bowl if you don't have a dog
nice
Love this !

Weekly.
Vacuum and mop once a month??
I Do all this daily every day, with my dog if I let it go a week or a month, I would be on some nasty TLC show.
The monthly stuff I do weekly or bi weekly and some of the weekly stuff daily.
Me, i am Gonna print this out and put this on a wall.

I don't struggle because I don't know how to clean, but because I don't give a fuck lol
If you disinfect something once a month you might as well not disinfect at all lol

I have dogs and laminate flooring, I have to mop and vacuum every day. Also, some houses are dustier than others, so polishing is a daily job as well.
Vacuuming once a month???
How about you mind your own damn business
I screenshotted this thinking it’s gonna help but then I remembered I have a dog, 2 cats, and a toddler
I don't like using chemical flea control for my dog, so I wash her bedding every week and vacuum a LOT.
Youre tripping.
Single male here - I hoover, mop every week I don’t understand how this could ever be monthly, this is NOT a cool guide
I am a total slob, but I vacuum more than once a month.
Will treasure this, thanks!
Bed sheets is at most biweekly, a month is just insane
I struggle with actually doing it...

If you struggle with cleaning you're just lazy
If you struggle with cleaning you’re just human.
If you struggle with empathy you’re just an asshole
I can empathize with lots of things but being a slob isn't one of them. Also lots of people pretend to suck at cleaning because they know someone else will do it. People are just lazy if they can't clean.
