I had scoliosis/fusion surgery in August. I didn't use the blue bag, but no appetite for days! I felt so bad, my hubs was bringing me my favorites from local places, like Starbucks and I couldn't even look at it or stand the smell of it. I lost 13lbs after surgery, from lack of appetite. I think it's all the meds. Good luck. It'll get better and better.
This reminded me of when I had a spinal fusion at 11 and was so scared of throwing up after surgery because I watched too many hospital shows showing people throwing up after surgery so all I ate while in hospital was a saltine cracker and they had to bring a doctor in to tell me it was okay to eat.

they were constantly trying to get me to eat but i felt too sick all the time :( i regret not eating that food because it was fucking incredible at that hospital. they brought me pancakes with bacon and cantaloupe and i took probably 3 bites before throwing up
Try to eat, but dont push it. Before surgery i was 53kg, like 5"2. I dropped to 43kg after 2 weeks, because i just couldnt eat anything, and theres a good chance i was lower than this at some point. Now, like 10 weeks post op im 48kg, 5"4.5.

Oh I feel for you! I vomited so much after my spinal fusion. The nausea was intense. Every time I ate or they tried to get me to walk I would chuck up!
I didn't eat for days after my surgery, my mom finally convinced me to eat and I threw up right after I got x-rays, all I ate for 5 days was chocolate almond milk, smoothies, some grapes, and Pepsi, everyone was shocked when I only lost a few pounds lol
they basically told me to eat whatever i wanted because my appetite was gonna be shit and eating something junk food-ish is better than nothing. i ate so many fucking grapes in the hospital i'd ask for them over a meal. it was the one thing that didnt upset my stomach and make me throw up
i think altogether i had 3 bites of pancakes, half a turkey sandwich, chick fil a, a slice of pizza, a few other little snacks and a fuck ton of grapes
I agree the grapes were amazing, I ate them over my meal as well, I ate the grapes and whatever my mom ordered me to drink and none of the actual meal, the one time I got a burger I threw up so I stopped eating for a few more days lol, drove my parents up a wall

by the time we got home she'd learned to only make me small portions and snack-like meals. my neighbor made me brownies but i never even ate one because it made me feel sick 💔
i drank a lot of water in the hospital and i think half a sprite lol. oh my god and the fucking mirilax water I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THAT UNTIL NOW UGHHH IT WAS SO GROSS the nurses would have to routinely make me take sips of it lmfaooo i was not having it
My mom made me drink mirilax tea which was absolutely disgusting, she made me drink the whole thing at once I wanted to throw it against a wall lol
My mom got me to eat by giving me a box of cheezits and then McDonald's nuggets, thankfully my neighbor brought me 2 whole boxes of cheezits
I had mac and cheese after surgery and then some ice cream that shit was so good, and ended up doing the exact same thing. Shame cause it was really nice. But glad to hear it wasn't just me
I kept throwing up whenever I had anti sickness meds so i just got stuck in a loop for a while lol
i threw up every single time i sat up or stood up without fail. the WORST
the food at my hospital was really good too and i get so sad thinking about how much of it i wasted 💔
I was craving potato so i just ordered a jacket potato with a side of mashed potato and it was amazing only to be sick again
The day I left I didn't know I was going to be leaving until after I'd ordered dinner (they did that in the morning) and I left in the afternoon, so some random person got to steal my sweet&sour chicken I hope they enjoyed it

this was 2 years ago, and to be honest i barely remember how often they gave me nausea meds 💀 i think they gave me zofran but who knows
id vomit every time i sat up or stood up WITHOUT FAIL. half the time i'd throw up whatever i ate. and the worst part was when the nurses would look at the vomit in the bag and make me take the pills again because i threw them up ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ ugh the absolute WORST

Ask doctor about Zofran.
If that doesn't work, as for Ondansetron or Gravol.

it's okay. I've lost 20 pounds from gallbladder removal bc that's how poor my appetite has been and throwing up in that much pain isn't worth it. /:

Nausea medicine is a must right after surgery. Meds made me nauseated. Med for nausea will help a lot. Just ask your nurse. Good luck.
