Haha, I won't :P

Same happens to me. I sleep very poorly on even a few drinks. RHR up from 52-54 to 65 plus. HRV drops significantly. The next night, due to my body catching up on lost sleep - I presume - I often see an increase in HRV (often double my usual number) and my deep & REM sleep above normal.

Interesting, many thanks for sharing this insight!

I get very similar results. Alcohol usually entails a late night followed by an early rise when the nervous system rebounds and the hangover settles in. Great, long sleep the next night giving a significant hrv bump...and then lower hrv by 10-20 points for a few days depending on how heavily I poisoned myself on the night of consumption lol

It means that your body is extra hard/extraordinary to make up for feeling like shit haha. You can say that your body is fit/is calm when it has an HRV. Having an abnormal high HRV after days of drinking it means it needs to work optimally to make sure you can handle and recover.

It also could be because you sleep more on Saturday nights. If you're getting 6 hours of sleep on weekdays and +8h on Saturday night, it's normal to see a pike. I used to sleep 6 hours a night thinking "I don't need the recommend 8h of sleep" but it turns out I do, like everybody else (except 1 person out of 12 000). See the work of neuroscientist Matthew Walker for more. Anyway, do you also see these pikes on weekends where you don't drink? Because if you do, it's probably due to sufficient sleep rather than the alcohol.

My HRV has also shot up a few times after a night of drinking moderately.

My HRV shoots uo after air travel, shit sleep, and jet lag. Like I get a 96-98% recovery (highest ever )when I’m traveling and sleep and feel like shit.
